New "term" for pre-teen girls I heard yesterday...

I'm just relaying this information - I did NOT make it up...but I did bust out laughing when I heard it! (I know - very demeaning...but really, should these young girls be doing this in the first place?)

What do you call a 10 - 14 year old that wears tight, low riding jeans with belly bearing shirts?

prostitots.

I'm sorry....I just found the term really funny. But I do kinda have to agree with it...why do girls that young feel the need to 'put it all out there' for everyone to see?

LOL! Perfect!

just remember, though, it's not what a teenager puts on her body that gets her pregnant -- it's what she takes off.

Well, I don't agree with clothing getting anybody pregnant. I'm quite sure we all know what causes pregnancy, and it ain't thongs. ;)

The OP's original point isn't about what TEENAGERS are wearing, rather what preteens and tweens are.

I think parents are treading on shakey ground when they allow 8 through 12 year old girls to wear sexy clothing. It might not necessarily lead to sexual activity at a young age, but that's not a chance I'd want to take if I were blessed with a daughter.

but calling a young lady a disgusting name certainly doesn't "help" the situation. if you've got a concern about the sexualization of children, express it in an adult manner. caling a 12 year old a "prostitot" is more demeaning and dehumanizing than allowing her to wear the clothes in the first place.

Look, the kid shouldn't be dressing like a hooker to begin with. And I love the term pimp-ents also. What are these parents thinking? Do these parents realize what they are doing to their daughters? Do the moms of these girls live vicariously through their girls? The parents should be ashamed of themselves for even buying this crap for thier kids!

just as an aise -- the "fastest" girls in my dd's middle scholl are the ones wearing turtlenecks.

apparently they have "something" to cover up.

You can excuse the sleazy clothes till doomsday, but I can still have my own opinion. My daughter will not dress like a tramp, because I wouldn't want people to assume she is one.

their thongs?

well....as a mom of 4 boys all I can say is Thank God I am not dealing with this! Although it would be a cold day you now where before I would let my daughter out of the house looking like that! I personally hate it! Girls at such a young age don't need that kind of attention.

Now, to be fair to both genders that look for boys with the low slung pants (bottom of bottom) and boxers pulled up....just as bad! My boys were not allowed to dress like that. When I bought their pants they fit! No knee hanging for them.

And there was a term for that look too, but I don't think I want to post it here!

To me the way some of those girls look is just morally wrong!

I agree with you completely, my boys do not, and will not, dress like that. I can't stand seeing those pants hanging down under their butts, what kind of fashion is that?

What frightens me is that parents buy their 8, 10 and 12 year old's these clothes.
This is the thing I don't understand about those parents that complain about how their child dresses. Well excuse me, I am pretty sure your 12 yo doesn't pay for their own clothes (and even if they do it is still YOUR JOB to make sure they are buying appropriate clothing) .

No....I think the parents who DO buy the extreme clothes are living vicariously through their young daughters & don't think the clothes are extreme. Kind of like the gung-ho Mothers who push their daughters in those "Beauty" pageants....and having them dress sexy at 6-8 years old, and sing suggestive songs as their "talent".

Or perhaps when they see their DD in the clothes the skirt is 1 inch below the waist...and later the skirt is 3-4 inches below. I saw some pictures of Brittany Spears sister's 13 birthday party that is a perfect example. The pic of her oriental friend that is shown on her website has the girl with a long sleeve sweater and nary any skin showing. A later close up that is circulating the Net, has the shirt 4 inches above the bellybutton and the skirt 4 inches below her waist.

As a mother of a teen daughter that is not allowed to wear "suggestive" logo tees and midriff bearing clothing, let me bring a little of what I have observed during my volunteer time at the high school.

The girls wearing the "worst" of this stuff seem to come from one of two categories. The first being the absent parent group (not just single parents) but the mom is a doctor, dad is an accountant type that have more business dinners than family dinners. They hand their kids large amounts of cash and say see you later. These kids are screaming for parental interaction but no one is listening.

The second group are the girls with low self esteem than seem to feel that unless they have a herd of guys panting after them that they have no worth.

Parenting is hard these days, especially with what the kids are exposed to on TV, magazines, etc. That being said, I still do not find demeaning names hilarious, not even remotely funny. Sad maybe, but I just don't see the humor.:(

hehe..have you SEEN what these kids pull in the mall?

the eyerolling, the huffing, the deep dramatic sighs, the "Mo-om...I'm not going to look right/fit in in that!"

either that or the mothers picking everything out for their daughters...living vicariously through them.

That falls under the 'That's too bad' category in my house.

Wow, someone remind me again why I don't want to have daughters!?!
