New "term" for pre-teen girls I heard yesterday...

but calling a young lady a disgusting name certainly doesn't "help" the situation. if you've got a concern about the sexualization of children, express it in an adult manner. caling a 12 year old a "prostitot" is more demeaning and dehumanizing than allowing her to wear the clothes in the first place.

blame society...no one "here" came up with that name.

what I found funny - back in my original post - was that there was actually a TERM for this now...

It IS demeaning and demoralizing I agree...but if these girls cared - do you think they would continue to dress in this manner?

gymnasticsmom, you're entitled to determine how to dress your own daughter, not how to dress other people's daughters.

my girls love hiphuggers. older dd won't wear anything except hiphuggers.

though to be honest, neither one of my girls would wear their pants as low as you've described. they have better taste than that.

but if someo ther mother allowed her daughter to dress like that, who am I to say she can't?

excuse me, but my daughters wear hiphuggers...and belly shirt, occasionally, and they DO NOT look like prostitutes.

While I find it totally disgusting, I find the apellation 'prostitots' totally valid for some of the girls I've seen at the mall where I work. Little girls...8,9, 10 years old some of them dressed in lowrise jeans, belly baring shirt and some of them in MAKEUP. Y es..makeup. More makeup than a hooker sometimes.

Makes me VERY glad DS is a DS and not a DD.

Well, if prosti-tot is too vulgar, I have another term:

How about "sexual predator meat"? Or "pedophile target"?

What do you call a 10 - 14 year old that wears tight, low riding jeans with belly bearing shirts?

prostitots.

Actually it's sad that mothers allow their very young DD's to flaunt their sexuality so young. If they wear stuff this skimpy at 11-13, who knows what they will be wearing at 15-17 to be "hip".

ITA, Scarlette.::yes::

I wonder how some of these moms can let their kids out wearing the things they wear. One day, I saw a girl who was maybe 10 or 11 wearing a teeshirt that depicted girls playing football. The wording on her shirt? "Hootchie Mama Football: Pick Your Position!".:earseek:

I never said they DID! I didn't mean that as a direct attack on ANYONE or anyone's DD's here.

I'm just saying...society has come up with this term...and maybe one might not think their DD's are being protrayed/look as such...but maybe society is deaming them as such. (I know - horrible isn't it?)

There is a right way and a wrong way to wear low slung pants and a belly shirt...there are varying degrees in both...

I couldn't agree more, why do parents want their kids to grow up so fast. I think it's just pathetic! I'll let my daughter dress like that when she's old enough to back-up the statement that she's making.

Gotta agree with you there, Deb.

I think its creepy when young girls (who for the most part are built like little boys) dress like little ho's -- the first thing that comes to my mind is pedophiles. I just want to cover them up and tell them to go home, away from harms way.

Yes I am, and it's also a free country and if I see a 13 year old dressed like that, I'm allowed to think what I want about them and their parents for letting them out of the house like that.

Ditto, and just think, there are parents out there that let their kids out of the house looking like that. Not only that, they bought the crap for them. Sad.

this is exactly what I wanted to say in my last post.

thanks gymnasticsmom for saying it so well.

I agree that some of these girls are FAR to young to be wearing the things they wear. My son is in them 6th grade and there is one little girl who wears the belly shirts all the time. Its actually funny in a way because what is she trying to show? I mean you don't want your kids to look sexual at 12!!!! The low riding pants don't bother me as much as long as the shirt is nice but there is nothing positive to be said for a 12 year old showing her belly.

Now a 20 year old who makes up her own mind is a totally different thing.

the problem is that they DO care... they care what their friends will say if they are not construed as "cool" or "hip" enough.
Peer pressure is now an epidemic and this is proof.

Of course it doesn't help when (then) something-teens Britney and Christina blaze such a trail that the people who created their images know that young impressionable girls will be tripping over each other to emulate.

The other thing I have a problem with is the pants or shorts with writing on the seat. Do we really need to bring attention to the derriere of a 10-year old girl by turning it into a billboard?

This drives me nuts too. I cannot stand to see words on some 9 or 10 year old's butt. Why don't the parents put a big spotlight on her butt for all the freaks of the world. What the heck is the point of that??

Um - they look horrible on EVERYONE.

:)

ITA with you there. ::yes:: It was bad enough when I was in middle/high school and we were pressured to look 'hot' or 'cool' or whatever by dressing a certain way. And it wasn't nearly as bad as it was now, I think.

And I also have a problem with words on the backs of somebody's pants or shorts. I think it just looks trashy, tbh. It looks trashy on kids and even trashier when their mothers wear the same kinds of things. I saw a mom who must've been 40 sometehing..attractive but not overly so in a "Brittany Spears" kind of way. Just kind of good looking for a 40 something year old. She was wearing athletic pants that said "Hot Mama" on the rear. I wondered why on earth she was wearing them. :scratchin :confused2

There is a difference in wearing hip huggers if worn properly (which you have said before they do) and jeans so low that you have to shave your pubic region to wear them. Then on top of that, have a thong hanging out. We've had this discussion before but thongs have a sexual connotation. Nobody is going to have their granny panties hanging out. That look is sexy and is meant to be sexy. Tweens and young teens SHOULD NOT BE SEXY...unless one doesn't mind them acting sexy.

If a mom wants to let that stuff fly, then that IS her business but when her daughter gets raped...I hope she will hold some personal responsibility. Is it directly anyone's fault but the rapists? No. Are there things that attract a sexual predator? Yes.
