Used a free Friday night in chicago with Sil & Bil - DN loved using the pool! FREE - FREE - FREE - Yaahoo!

Just spent my first 2 nights at a starwood hotel.....Sheraton Premier in VA...I booked on line and got a great deal and the extra 1000 points....or so I thought....saw my account today....we had 2 rooms... I recieved 1000 points for each room so for my weekend trip I accumulated approx. 3942pts.....YIPPEEE!!!!!! and my room rate was only $55 per night.....

Can't wait to stay somewhere again.....

WOW! How did you get such a great rate? I have received a Starwood resort in Frisco for 45$ a night, but did not get the extra bonus points because I did not book on-line at the Starwood site, I got the rooms through Priceline. I did receive points for the cost of my stay and incidentals though. I also received a 500 point amenity for each room for being Platinum starwood. .... :D

Have a nice trip to Dallas this weekend at the Westin Frisco Resort, the pool area is nice and relaxing. The rooms are also very nice. When we had housekeeping bring up the baby bed, it was so sweet with sky and clouds and the cutest dust ruffle with large white bows and they even had a cloud rug to put in front of it. There is a floor especially for Starwood, ask for a pool view. Is this your DD first year at college. My DH works near SMU at the Town of Highland Park, he is a building inspector :D

It was an Endless Weekend rate......I was excited......I'd like to find something as cheap in town next time....Kids liked riding the metro in but I would have preferred in town now that I've stayed out of town.....

Can you reserve a room and then when you have enough points change it over from cash to points????

As long as there are still rooms available at the time you have enough points, you can switch from a paid night(s) to a free night(s).

Just to double check.....

If I reserve a Jr Suite for cash and then I get enough points for a free night ....only if there is another Jr Suite avail in the system can I switch my cash Jr to points?

Nancy,
Enjoy your stay while here in Texas. Frisco has really grown a lot over the last few years. They have a new mall too. Haven't been there yet, so I can't give you a report on it. If you see a small helicopter flying towards you, spray on some bug repellant quick! It's probably a mosquito. ;)

Kim - that's what I was told. If you have the last junior suite in the system, I'm not sure what they'd do. You'd probably have to cancel your reservation and then hope it's still available a minute later for a free night using points.

Troyfus - UGH...mosquitos! I'll definitely pack the bug repellant!

Amex currently has a special going on:

For a limited time only, starting July 1 through September 30, 2002, transfer Membership Rewards points into a Starwood PreferredGuest account, and receive 50% MORE StarpointsSM than usual. For every 1,000 Membership Rewards points transferred, you'll receive 500 Starpoints, instead of the usual 333 Starpoints.

Is this a good use of Membership Rewards points? Or is there another reward worth more in value like a straight transfer to airline miles? I just recently made a small purchase to take me over the 2,000 point level, since that is the minimum required for many of the rewards (and this offer). Now, I will be exclusively using my Amex/Starwood card. So what do you think?

It depends, Troyfus. If you need Starwood points - it's a better deal than the usual 3 AMEX points = 1 Starwood point transfer. My DH flies mostly on American Airlines, and they don't participate in the Membership Rewards program.

A question for the SPG experts....If you are not staying at the Swan/Dolphin, is it still possible to visit and redeem points for an instant award?

My original reservations for our November trip were at Dolphin but lots of changes and now we're going to be at BWI for part of the trip. But would still like to check out S/D for a future trip. Thought it would be nice to redeem some points $ toward a meal over there.

Anyone know if the 4000 point promotion is still on. Also, I would like to hear more about getting points if you refer someone to the spg program. Is it on a website anywhere ?

Anyone back from the SWAN or Dolphin recently, please tell us about your trip.
I'm scheduled for a Swan vacation the beginning of December. Yea !!

We are just back from the Swan. We were there from the 20th to the 25th. We had a very nice time. It was my 2nd trip to the Swan and I enjoyed it just as much this trip as the first. We had room 1260 on the club level. Just wonderful service from Mama T. Any questions, just ask.:)

I haven't read through all the pages of this thread, so please forgive me if this question is a repeat.

I registered as SPG a few years ago over the telephone when I thought I was going to stay at a Sheraton. This June when I went to the Swan, I was on the list as a preferred guest (YEA!). I am staying there again next year, and when I made my ressie, they used my address to find that I was a preferred guest.

My question is, I no longer have the card with the number and have no username or anything in order to login to the website. I have no idea how many points I have, how to get information, how to redeem, or add points.

Any ideas? I don't want to register as an online customer when I'm already enrolled.

Thanks!

Hi ! just call 888-625-4988, They are very helpful.

By the way everyone go online and play the new starwood game to be entered in the contest for
the free trips. It was fun!!

I have been reading this thread and the Swan/Dolphin thread for about a year and have learned so much. I and DH are going to WDW to celebrate our 20th anniversary in June 2003. My first question for everyone is about booking a room at the teacher's rate and then using starwood points to upgrade to the club level. Do they "encumber" your points? If I make the ressie now and need to cancel it later, will my points be unencumbered or will I lose them?

Should I sign up with the link from the web-site (it doesn't say anything about 4000 bonus points) or should I wait for an e-mail offering me the 4000 points? I just signed up for SPG on Friday.
