***** New September 2013 Thread *****

I'm concerned about the fact that everyone is reposting the July 31 for POR to be finished with fridge replacements. Is everyone just going by one person calling and speaking to one CM about this matter?

I wonder if fridge swaps will make a reappearance now that the fridges are being replaced? I know you can request a fridge if you have certain medical conditions. My Mom is diabetic and will be traveling with us. We've always been able to get guaranteed fridges at the value resorts when she travels with us, because her insulin has to be refrigerated. We called and requested a fridge for our September trip (we're staying at CS) and were told that they would make sure our room had a fridge because of my Mom's medical condition.

Not saying people should make up a medical condition and call to request a fridge (unfortunately, I know of this happening in the past) -- I'm just saying that some fridges are available for people with medical conditions and special needs. If that fits your situation, call and let Disney know and they'll do what they can to ensure your needs are met.

This is a quote from Andre and he knows POR inside and out

The room inventory survey of fridges is now complete, and not all rooms are affected (only around 50% at Riverside in fact, due to a bit of luck during the recent refurb) so requesting a fridge (even for non-medical reasons) might well get you one. I don't think this is going to be as big of a deal as people feared.

So does anyone have any idea about fridges at All Star Movies? That's where we're staying and were really hoping to have the fridge to hold some drinks and breakfast items.

Yes, I had seen that quote from Andre. It definitely put my mind at ease coming from him. We have visited WDW six times, once at Dixie Landings and others at All Stars. This would be first time ever with a fridge anyway. Always made do without before but would be nice to have one to keep drinks cold. Oh well, I'm leaving it up to chance and will just feel lucky if we get one. :)

Hoping that CBR is as lucky, I know their refurb was a long time ago, but I cannot drink regular milk and generally bring my almond milk with me for cereal and such. Since it isn't a huge deal I do not want to request one when there could be someone who needs it to store meds.

It was just suggested to me to put in a request for one "if available" and let them know it's not for a medical reason. You could try the same thing?!

 Spouse's boss told him today that our dates are no good. Managed to book a room (river view more $$$) for the following week in September (21-25) and no princess meals are left. What should I do? This makes me a horrible person but I'd rather go without him so my Izzy can experience the princess meals than go with him. Or cancel all together rather than miss those experiences. Haven't even tried BBB yet. :sad1:

Can you not get almond milk in the shelf stable containers? I've never tried it so maybe it's best served cold? :coffee:

Just had to cancel our trip for September.:sad2: We had a huge car repair (about equal to half the cost of the trip) and some other unexpected financial surprises. Plus, our family can't fit at POR anymore, which is another expense. I don't want to charge it, as I'm used to saving first. Anyway, I'm bummed, and I knew people would understand here. The good news is, if free dining really is released for later this year, maybe I can save enough by then. If not, I'll try again for a deal in January or February.

Everybody try to keep cool in September! :goodvibes
