Thanks stmize! I have only ever done online check in at the 10 day mark. Now I am paid in full, checked in and just waiting for notification on FP+. Has anyone from Sept. been able to do that yet?

It changed after jan cause then we could only ck in 10 days before.

How does the magic band thing work? I logged onto the Disney site the other night and saw that magic bands were on my sidebar, but it wouldn't let me link anything to them. Does this automatically appear for everyone, or only if you're getting magic bands? I meant to call a CM and ask, but we've had family in and I haven't been able to.

And if you have magic bands, can you only customize them if you do online check-in?

Also, this is our first time staying on property. Do I want to do online check-in?

I am still trying to figure out how the magic bands work...will every on-site guest get magic bands or are they still just being tested? I'm hoping we won't have to worry about FP+ on this trip...I am just not ready to start worrying about all of that and trying to figure that out.

I would recommend doing online check-in. It makes things easier and quicker.

Please don't let this jinx things. Please don't let this jinx things, but just booked for 3 nights at the All Star Music for my sister and myself Sept 23 to 26th. Fun! I hope everything works out!

Woohoo, just booked for Sept 23-30 at ASMu. We were just at ASSp in early July for an anniversary break but I got really sick for 2 of the 4 days so didn't get to do a lot of our favorite stuff. We bought APs for the last trip so this one will bring us closer to breaking even (another big family trip planned for April 2014 as well). I'm really looking forward to this trip after the July debacle!

So glad you are feeling better and able to book in Sept. I hope you have a wonderful time

Hey, that's the day we arrive and to the same resort!! I'm sorry your last trip didn't turn out so well but having a fellow DISer at the same place/starting the same time has to be a good luck sign, right?

Definitely a good sign! We're skipping MNSSHP (which seems to be occurring 3 times during our trip) so that limits the days we can visit MK but honestly having missed out on DHS due to illness last time, I plan on spending a lot of time there :) Do you think you'll get MagicBands for your trip?

At least if you change your minds, you'll have three chances to catch the party. DSis and I have never been before so we're definitely hitting up the one on Tuesday. DHS is a great park to visit. Have you been before? As for the MagicBands, I'm actually not that big on the idea (sensitive skin + heat + bracelet = uncomfortable wrists) but DSis wants to try them. What do you think?

Yes we've been many times over the last 15 years of marriage, I really should put together a list and put it in my sig but I'm scared of how long it would be. DHS has always been our favorite park and in July we were going there on our anniversary (the 8th) but I got sick on the 7th so we didn't get to go.

I'm a tech geek so I'm quite interested in the MagicBands, FP+ doesn't really interest me that much but just the idea of everything being on the band (FPs, room entry, payments and park tickets) just sounds like something I would enjoy. RFID cards that we used in July were a good start (especially when going back to the room loaded with food and beverages), but the wrist band just brings it all together. Add in the personalization and I think it'll turn out to be a great thing for Disney and the visitors.

I did finally get to call and speak to a CM. I lucked out and got a guy who was very knowledgeable and helpful.

He told me the Magic Bands are still in beta testing. They appear on the website for everyone, but are only available to people who've signed up to be beta testers and are selected for their dates. He also said the FP+ thing isn't in full swing yet, either. It's being tested along with Magic Bands. For now, unless you sign up to beta test MB and receive a notification that you've been selected, you should expect the regular KTTW system.

I also asked him about the refrigerators being replaced in the resorts. He said they're working on it, but they may not be done by the time we go in Sept. He said they're still in the rooms (I have no idea why, and he didn't either), but are unplugged and the outlets to plug them in have been covered. He told me they are trying to accommodate everyone who requests to have one in their room, but that request can only be made upon arrival at the resort, not during online check-in.

First, I upgraded our room to business class at CSR. I'm hoping it ends up being worth the extra charge....I'm still second-guessing myself.

Since we've been to WDW several times before, we know what we like and what we don't in each park, for the most part. But there are things in each park that we still haven't done -- even things that are classics. You probably won't believe some of these...but we just haven't done them. So on this trip I'm trying to pick one treat/food and one attraction in each park that we haven't done yet.

Here's what I have so far...

MK -- Dole Whips and Carousel of Progress (gasp! no, we've never done either of these)
EPCOT -- School Bread and Off Kilter (gasp! no, we've never done either of these things either)
DHS -- Carrot Cake Cookies and ????
AK -- ???? and Flights of Wonder

The only thing I can think of that we haven't done at DHS is Jedi Training, but DD and I just aren't interested in that. Any suggestions for some of the maybe lesser-known things to do at DHS?

And at AK, I'm trying to come up with a snack/food that is specific/unique to AK that we can try. Any suggestions?

And you know those crazy dreams where you show up at school unprepared on the day of the final? I had my first Disney dream like that last night. I showed up at MK and, for some strange reason, had a 2 year old with me but no diaper bag and no stroller, forgot my park tickets, had no touring plan or park maps, etc. I literally woke up in a panic...but when my husband asked if I was ok, I was too embarrassed to tell him what the dream was about. He just doesn't get Disney the way I do. LOL So I realize that I need to get to work on making some plans for this upcoming trip. It will be a little different in that my parents will be with us for all four park days and so we'll need to go at a slower pace, but then again -- they may not spend all day in the parks with us...I just don't know. Plus we've been several times before so we know what we want to do and this trip will be at a lower crowd time and so we're hoping to have more time to just stop and smell the roses and notice all the little details that Disney excels at. And DH and our other DD aren't coming, so it will just be different. I'm hoping it's a wonderful trip to remember, though.

Super excited like everyone else.. .September is fast approaching!!
We're heading to AoA from the 12th to 21st... our longest actual stay at WDW ever, so very exciting! (Flying, so we can spend the extra days at the park that we'd spend driving!)

Already have tickets for MNSSHP, and booked Cinderella first thing in the morning one day and Mickey's Backyard BBQ, and plan to just 'wing it' for all of our other dinners (had great success that time of year a couple of years back without ADRs, fingers crossed for the same!)

The hardest part is keeping the secret from the kids!!

45 days to go! party:

Unfortunately, I took a tumble last night... and it looks like I've broken my arm. DANG IT.

Oh no! I hope it heals quickly! Our 14 year old DD broke her wrist in two places in May and was in a cast for four weeks. Hopefully, if it is broken, you won't be in a cast long. However, there is good news -- see if your doctor does waterproof casts. If so, they are great for swimming...but the cast is still supposed to be wrapped for bathing and non-chlorinated swimming/water usage. Or you can get a long, vacuum-seal type rubber sleeve to go over your hand and above the cast. You use a small hand pump to pump the air out and create a vacuum seal -- perfect for the beach and non-chlorinated water. That's what we used for our daughter and she wore it swimming, kayaking, showering, etc. It kept her cast completely dry, and it's pretty easy to use. She got to the point where she was able to put it on and take it off by herself.

Just got a lunch ADR for Sci-Fi...another place DD has been wanting to try. Yea! I wasn't able to keep the secret about getting the 'Ohana ADR, but I am bound and determined to keep this secret!

I ended up switching from business class level at CS back to regular...I just can't justify spending $36/day for a very light continental breakfast and evening snacks (chips, salsa, veggies, hummus, pretzels, etc.). If it was hors d'oeuvres that would be different. But since we don't drink alcohol, it's just not worth $36/day for muffins, cold cereal, fruit, and chips/salsa type snacks.
