New Security Entrance

We walked into GCH from DTD today and noticed that they had a different layout for security. They previously had two stations. Now they have four.

Would love to see some photos or get feedback from people actually using this entrance first thing in the morning in readiness for EE at DCA. I am tossing up between using the Pixar Hotel Entrance or this one for our first EE day on the 1st of December. I want to ride Soarin at EE so I was thinking this entrance would be closer and a better option but I was cautious, given the horror stories of how long people had to wait in line to get through security at this entrance.

This entrance is much closer to Soarin’ than the PPH entrance. I think it is almost a toss up because while this entrance generally starts screening people earlier than the PPH entrance, they have FAR more people to screen, so it can take long time (unless you line up very early, ie 6:30am). Maybe if they keep the 4 stations, it will move much faster now. That is my hope!

To be clear, this is not the entrance into DCA. It is the entrance from GCH to DTD.

We walked from DTD into the hotel this way and then into DCA through the GCH park entrance. The park entrance still had two security lines.

Oh yes I see, I forgot there were two entrances. Makes sense I suppose to have four stations when this entrance services guests who want to visit both DCA and DL. Thanks for the clarification.

I wasn't in the parks today but it sounds like the security entrance next to the sorcerer's hat has been closed.

I'm hearing they are going to redo that station and should be back in a few months. So hopefully thats true

Your picture makes me think this is also in preparation for the closing of the Pixar DCA Park entrance early next year. Translation, the VGC entrance will be busier once Pixar DCA entrance closes. How much busier to be determined but looks like VGC has double its screening capacity.

Below is a picture that I posted upthread. Location 2 is closed. Most guests will use location 3.

I don't doubt that. It could have to do with the construction at the former ESPN building.

If we wanted to enter into DCA via GCH, is it easiest to go through DTD, enter GCH near the Starbucks, and then go to the GCH/DCA entrance?

You would essentially be going through security screenings twice, so I guess that's up to you. You get screened before entering DTD. And then you get screened again before leaving the Grand Californian to go into DCA.

No, as was mentioned, you wouldn't want to go through security twice. Not to mention that it is a trek to wind through the GCH to the DCA entrance. Your best bet is to go through security and enter DCA through the main entrance turnstiles.
