So, my mom and I went to Target yesterday.
That dollar section is a dangerous place. O_o
We spent $456.45
BUT we got all the stuff for my birthday party so that's good at least!

WOW! my checkbook would roll over on that. I panic when I spend $30 at the half price bookstore. :upsidedow

Quick greetings to and for all!

Happy late b-day Nsalz! Hope you expressed our great desire to all meet DisUnc, though most probably will get to in PA. in Aug.

I did cancel DW yesterday. Part of me is sad, but other parts are quite relieved. Now to figure out what to do with/for the kids!

They do want to go camping in a local park with the Y day camp group this weekend. Gotta see if my tent is still in one piece. Been so long since I used it! It should be a good practice for all of us and there will be others there to help me get it & keep it all together.

Not much going on. some rain, lots of thunder and no rain... no telling what it may do around here.

All kinds of worries with Jeff's schooling is coming up again. Been praying, but the school he has been placed in for 5th has just been accredited for the first time in years, and isn't in a good neighborhood. I am trying to get him moved to the school Krista is in, but the Special Ed coordinator isn't as flexabile as I would like or others have been and says "we have to follow all the rules of placing children or it would be chaos". My toes!!:scared1: If she gets my son placed back in ED classes cause of her stubborness I will not be happy. Dannielle..how is it out there with special ed placement?

Oh an Bear is right about having your own fireworks or sparklers. They were watching the interstate borders from NC to check for illegal fireworks in traffic stops. Not that it stopped many here, but you could hear sirens going off as police cars went to the neighborhoods that were using them.:confused3

Hi, Kat! I WISH the cops did something about the illegal ones here. Thursday night there was a neighbor on the next road over that was letting off M80's and BIG fireworks until 3am! Rick called the sheriff several times, but they didn't do anything. We had pretty much continuous fireworks around us day and night for 3 days.

Yeah

That's gonna be SOME party!!!:thumbsup2 :woohoo:
Hope so

My parents are polar opposites.
My dad is a huge penny pincher. My mom doesn't really care.

Oh, and guess who broke her right wrist AGAIN?
Yup, me.
I went to take the dog out for a walk. She saw a bunny and went darting after it causing my arm to go slamming into the frame of the door. Now it is broken. Joy.

so my sister just called and said that they went to mgm and the cast members where so rude. she said in all the years we have gone down it was unbelievable. and her friends son wanted to see buzz. he was to be there at 11:30 they got there at 11:34 a nd they told them the line was closed. anyone else here have that problem lately

Our army surplus stores have pop-up tents big enough for 4 (if you squeeze) for $20. We don't have a tent now because I sent our last one for fire victims in so. Cal.
In CA, the law is a child can't be placed in a special ed class without parental consent. The teacher, school, etc, can lay out the reasons they think that would be the best option(if that's what they think), but the final consent belongs to the parent. In my district, the problem is the other way. They really drag their feet on special ed placement because it is so much more expensive than regular ed, and our state is drastically cutting funding.

As someone who is VERY close to a character, let me defend them by saying it may have to do with the weather. There is a limit to how long the characters can be out in hot weather (15 minutes when it's really hot around here). So, if by 11:34 they already had enough people in line to take 15 minutes to go through, they have to close the line. The last thing anyone would want is for Buzz to pass out and land on their kid. That being said, there is no reason for the CMs to be rude. They should politely suggest when the guests can come back to have the best chance of seeing a character.

thats what i thought and i told her that.. i said you did not want to see buzz fall over from the heat

Our only rude CM was in Epcot. It's rare, but it happens. I'm the type to complain when it happens, because Disney is too expensive to have a worker spoil the magic.

ya know i wish i was there to see it. my sister swears that she will never go back to mgm.. i know from my self that if somethings gets me going i get rude. i wish castmembers could say hey we are having a bad day because of x so dont mind us... i was shocked to here this from her being we are vets of disney going down so many times and having such a good time.. but it will not deter me from going

You canceled and after MUCH agonizing we decided to go for it. Especially since the cubs said they dont want to go next year....we got a travel book and they see all of these other cool places they want to go, so... cool! (Though, I might have to tag along w/ some of my limies for long weekends so I dont go thru withdrawal!):thumbsup2

Yeah....we had a LOT og banging here too...fun at first, but got old after a couple of hours.....

Yup, me.

Wow, bummer. Hope it feels better soon!:)

A total bummer - but, hopefully, over time they will not feel as stressed about it and can enjoy mgm again.:)

:thumbsup2 true that.

Hugh - So glad you are going!!! Something to look forward too! How is everyone feeling?

Kat - I was at Cape May Cafe today for Dinner. It was great. We thought of you because ours servers name tag said KAT. She was excellent! Sorry you are not going to WDW.

We did get to meet DisUnc on my Birthday. He and his nephew came to lunch with us. It was great. Super guy, just as you would expect!..:confused3 No green hair though. What's up with that!

msgrimm - we have not had any problems with Hollywood Studios this trip. We do sometimes run in to a rude CM though, but we do try to chalk it up to them having a bad day and give them a break.

Hi all! We're back from the Cape. with the exception of Winnie, who is at Lake Placid with a friend's family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL SISTER NSALZ!!!

The NSalz's had lunch with DISUNC and James at EPCOT today!
Welcome back & Happy Birthday to Nsalz!

Thanks - I was kind of silly and didnt take it easy like I should have....am kind fo paying now - VERY tired, but its coming along. Go back to the doc on Thurs...do we'll see.Well, glad you are back on line and weathered the storm ok. Man, I havent even seen a sparkler in ages - they are outlawed here, you cant even buy them. How I used to love to write my name w/ them - so cool!:thumbsup2
Hope everything is well & your hearing is great! I just found a bag a sparklers that I had & forgot about so we were lighting them on Sat. night.

The fireworks are supposed to be illegal in our area too, but people go crazy on the fourth. Also there are big tents selling stuff for a couple weeks before, not sure how that is if they're illegal. :confused3

There was a story on the news about a boy lighting firecrackers in his room, caused a small fire which he put out then left the room. He didn't account for smolderings and ended up causing $100,000 worth of damage to his home. :headache: He and his family members were able to escape.

Well, I am figuring it is pretty wet there, and we are in a drought here, with lots of smoke from the Dismal Swamp fires. So they are being more careful.

Not that the caught many, if any....maybe they just liked to have the sirens on!
:rotfl:

Yeah

Hope so

My parents are polar opposites.
My dad is a huge penny pincher. My mom doesn't really care.

My husband and I are like that. I save & scrimp & he jsut takes it out of the account & eats out.:sad2:

Yup, me.

Are you right handed? I know how weak my wrist is after I did that once when I was aobut 7. And of course, chip has had hundreds, but I don't think he broke a wrist yet. The radius, ulna (lower arm bones) , femur, A knuckle or two but no wrist. Not that i am asking for him to either!

I hoepthat you feel much better soon and it hasn't put to big a cramp on your summer!

Our army surplus stores have pop-up tents big enough for 4 (if you squeeze) for $20. We don't have a tent now because I sent our last one for fire victims in so. Cal. That is a good idea. I may look there though ours is a ways away. It acutally rained yesterday so I did n't get mine out. Poor thing has been packed away at least 13 years. 1 reason I worry about it!In CA, the law is a child can't be placed in a special ed class without parental consent. The teacher, school, etc, can lay out the reasons they think that would be the best option(if that's what they think), but the final consent belongs to the parent. They drag here too. I just wondered if parents has any say in the special ed school their child could attend. The one they have him slated for is in a low income area, and just got accredited by the state this year. Jeff had heard from kids that were there that thers was a lot of tension & fighting, and these were the african-american kids that were saying it! And not sure if you remember that Jeff was the one that it took over a school year to get him in special Ed and then they screwed up his next school year start by not forwarding the correct papers. I am going to keep bugging her, esp. as august gets going cause I do not want him there~!

Though Buzz may want to smush a few to the ground...or maybe their parents or guardians! But a good explaination of the facts.

And I should have had you take Jeff with you! His b-day was the 8th. My kids are great, cause I know they really want to go, but are thinking of mom too. So special for them to say we can do it later cause it might be to hot down there! tee hee
