New prix fixe dinner at BOG...sharing?

I don’t see why you couldn’t share a meal. It’s not “all you can eat”. It’s one portion. Some people just don’t eat that much. It’s no different than sharing any other meal that is not a buffet or all you can eat.

The reason is not the amount of food offered that someone cannot eat. It is because BOG was plagued with families who booked dinner, made minimal purchases, and then met with the Beast. WHile most restaurants are not negatively impacted by a family who shares meals, it just evens out, BOG was. A lot of people could not get an ADR for a meal, and the number of guests securing ADR's without purchasing meals was swelling.

SO far I have not read any reports that guests have tried to share and were successful, which indicates to me that so far, it is not allowed.

You were lucky. This is not the policy, and is not always true for every guest. If a restaurant allows the under 2 set to have food free of charge, it is a bonus, not a policy. If @TheRustyScupper chimes in here, he will give yout he 411 for under three dining, but I can give you the condensed version: technically the under 3 set are not free, they are allowed to share off another plate. Anything else is pixie dust.

It’s not a policy, but it is a practice. Last year, my at the time 18 month old ate for free at Garden Grill and Tusker House. I don’t think under 3’s are typically charged at buffers and AYCTE places.

But we’re talking about the difference between an individually-plated prix fixe meal and an AYCTE meal. If you order an individual meal for an under-3, you should expect to be charged.

Yes, I know, but the poster I quoted was saying it was lucky that the child wasn’t charged at ‘Ohana and the like.

I would go in with the expectation of being charged at a price fixe menu, but it’s possible the kid still won’t be charged.

Not likely. If they want the kid meal food, they may give them an adult portion of it for the adult price, but that's the best I think you can hope for.

I asked this same question of the CM on the phone, so take that into consideration (Edit: by which I mean that the call centre CMs don’t have a great reputation for accuracy). I am travelling with a 14 year old and 8 year old, and the 14 year old preferred the look of the kids’ menu. I was told that she could order the kids’ meal but she will be charged as an adult. We haven’t gone yet, so I can’t confirm what we were charged yet, but that appears to be the policy.

That is fine by us, as I wasn’t trying to get them to give me a discount - after reading all the stories on here about people who order tap water and one cupcake to share, I totally understand by Disney changed the menu. I was just going to make the 14 year old order off the the adult menu, but as long as she eats, I don’t care what she eats! Based on what Jackie said on yesterday’s Disney Dining Show, I’m hoping they might give her a slightly larger portion than the 8 year old gets.

For breakfast and lunch, the meals at BOG are ordered off of a kiosk, correct? So no one knows what meal is for each person, so it would be easier to share those meals or order kids meals for adults, correct? Thanks!

All you can (or care to) eat.

Breakfast or lunch you can share or order off the kid menu all you want.

That’s great to know, thank you! She will eat the adult entree if she has no other option, so if it’s that or Mac and Cheese then I suspect she will pick the chicken too. I’m pleased that your daughter was allowed the kids’ paint your own Chip dessert, as he is incredibly cute and I know the 14 year old would enjoy him. I won’t eat any of my desserts, so both kids can fight over them too!

No, you can't. Everyone in attendance paying a set amount is the whole point of Disney making it pre-fixe.
