New Pins at Disney Stores---1/5/02

Heads Up Everyone....Just when you thought it was safe to sleep in on a Saturday morning....

Beginning 1/5/02 there will be a new series of pins released at your local Disney Store. These are rack pins, and not part of any collection. They are called "12 Months of Magic" pins. One will be a calendar pin for each month. One will be a Movie poster. There will be several ongoing character themes.

Pins will be released every other Saturday beginning 1/5/02. There will be 5 pins released each week, however on the first week there will be 14 released. There will be a 2 pin per person limit on the first day only.

These will continue indefinitely as will pin trading in the stores. I'll provide more information as I get it.

This is horrible! I was very fortunate to have WDW in my backyard so I could avoid the 100 yrs thing. (To be honest, I really didn't find any that I liked) Now the "downward spirial" continues! I beg for the Walt Disney Company not to release this fury upon thee! It will destroy us all!

If the pins are as scarse as YoD, count me out.
This round, if they aren't in the store when I decide to buy them -- oh well. I'm keeping this series enjoyable -- not stressful.

I agree Barb! What ever is ther that I really like when I get there, probably around 11:45, will have to do. Either that or I'll trade for them. Have to see what they look like.

The 12 Months of Magic Pins are NOT part of a series or collection. They are part of current merchandise and therefore NOT considered a collectible.
6-8 pins will be released every other Saturday at store opening
14 pins will be released for 1/5/02, for that week only
The following will released every month:
Calendar pin
Birthstone Pooh Pin
Holiday
Walt Disney Studios commerative
Goofy 70th Comm. in January, every month after a new Goofy "movie shorts" pin
All stores to receive an average of 24 units per store
Pin trading continues at stores until further notice
Pins should not be put out until Saturday morning January 5, 2002.

I'll check them out and let you know what is coming and what kinds of numbers we are getting in. We are a small store and fairly typical of most in the chain. Remember, these are not limited or part of a collection....but I can't imagine them making too too many of any one style.

Went to my disney store last night 12/22 & they had the january garnet pooh birth stone pin and a mickey new years eve pin out already. DH says we better get these (Ha Ha)
They also had more clothes for the mindy dolls. Our store has been completely out of outfits for about a month. Yippee got two outfits.

barb, I'm with you. no more stress!!! if i get them, i get them. maybe i'll try to get the goofy series but thats it!!!
no more waking up to sit in a pin line 3+ hours before the store opens, maybe i'll show up a few minutes beforehand to see who else is around and trade some pins!!

The pins are already out at my store too. I'll have to ask my manager about this tomorrow.

From what I have read here and there, the confusion must be in multiple DS memo's, one out dating the other. Looks like some stores apparently are going by the first memo and have been selling the pins, when the second memo said to hold them until 01/05/02.

If that were true Luv2Roam, then most stores would be breaking the rules, including mine. Since I read both memos myself I feel confident in my opinion that the pins (the 1st week only) could be put out before 1/5/01.

Some stores might not have them to put out yet, though. Everyone's best bet is to call your closest store and ask. If they act like they don't know anything about them, then they haven't received them yet. The memos also stated that all of the information regarding the pins was confidential - hence stores who have not yet received the pins are probably keeping quiet about any info they have received.

I know my store has the pins, but when I asked about putting them out earlier as other stores had done, the said absolutely not!! We must wait till 1-5-02. I guess I won't get any from the 1st week but it's a fair tradeoff, I'll be at WDW!!!! Yippee!
