New MyMagic+ 'Memory Maker' photography package begins Friday

So, for those who already pre-purchased PP+, will they still get PP+? Is it just not for sale anymore, and future purchases would be Memory Maker? Or if someone pre-purchased PP+, are they forced to convert it to Memory Maker now? I'm confused ...

I found different responses to this question on here. I'm going to call in a few different times to ask a CM. I'll see if I get a set answer.

EDIT: I'll let you know what I find out. :)

I'll save you some time. ( and probably the 70 minute queue)

If you purchase PhotoPass+ nothing has changed for you. You will redeem the voucher, pick up your lanyard (or gallery cd and lanyard if ordered through the DRC) and do everything like you did for the year and a half PhotoPass+ was a thing.

PhotoPass+ cannot be upgraded or exchanged for memory maker. Two completely separate products offered by two completely separate lines of business. If you want to exchange PhotoPass+ for memory maker, you will have to return it for a full refund and purchase memory maker. If purchased through the web site, the form is in the help section under returns policy. The cd case should be unopened and voucher still attached. If purchased through the DRC, you will have to contact them to find out their process since I don't know how they are handling it.

Yes but.....I purchased 2 weeks ago and received my stuff last week. I already opened the CD of stock photos, knowing there was a no return policy. Now PhotoPass+ is gone (though you can keep it and still use it, I get that) but my trip isn't until May. I'm worried I'll get there with my PP+ voucher and they won't have the lanyards anymore since at that point Memory Maker would be 6 months old. I would then miss out on getting pictures of the first 3 days of my vacation until it "activates" or whatever that 3 day wait crap is about.

It's 3 days from purchase, so activating it wouldn't cause the blackout. It just prevents people from getting it within 3 days at a discount and using it immediately.

Ahhhh, gotcha! That makes sense! Thanks! :)

Not behind just downloading isn't what I prefer. We are replacing our Mac but wanted to wait until the fall bc my DD's school has specific requests. Our computer is on the fritz and will read but not burn cd's and it recently lost photos so I won't put anything of value on it. I don't want all the 300+ New photos on my tablet, iPad, smart phone or dh's work computer. They are already loaded with photos I take on them. In my area photographers let you download AND they give you a cd/DVD to keep the images on.

Have you thought about buying an external hard drive, we have one that is 1 terabyte and we use it to back up our laptops because we lost two years worth of digital photos. It has been a life saver. It is fairly simple to use. We paid around $100 for it. It is peace of mind and it asks you to hook it up and back it up on occasion as a reminder on your computer.

Until your external drive goes. Been there, done that. The only *safe* way to guarantee is to have a separate hard copy.

agree!!! This is soooo true!

Hard copies (prints, cd's, dvd's, or external drive) are so 20th centurya- lol.

Seriously the best thing is OFFSITE duplicates. One of the myriad of cloud services is really the safest. Google drive, drop box, amazon- or an online backup service like idrive or carbonite- or if you dont feel comforable with the services then set up your own - there's software that lets you sync between multiple pc's- you can get a family member accross the country to be your 'personal cloud'. I think apple has something like that too- icloud or something- no?

hard drives, prints, cds dont do you any good if god forbid there's a natural disaster and the contents of your home and/or office get destroyed.

The most fun (to me) of setting things up that way is when you get a new pc and you dont need to copy everything over manually- you just set up the new machine on your account and it does it by itself. You can also have all your files (whatever they are) available anywhere on any device. You can also set up a single filing system that everything is in- you dont need to remember what device or account or computer has the specific photo/file that you want.

I'd seriously investigate one of them. Drop box for one always has ways to get additional free storage.

I am not impressed with this new ability to download my photos. I purchased PP+ a month ago in preparation for a marathon trip with my girlfriends. I live in Africa. Downloading 100 or more full size photos will literally take days on the network we have here. I was expecting the CDs. I truly will have no use for the photos if they don't come on a CD. Come on Disney, I'm trying to play by your rules but you keep changing them mid-game. :furious:

that stinks for you.

besides the suggestions already above-

IF (big IF) you plan on bringing a laptop, all the disney hotels now have free wifi so you could download everything to a thumbdrive/cd/laptop while at disney.

Good luck! Hope it works out for you.

The chances of both your original on your computer and your external hard drive going at the same time is small.

I agree the cloud is the new wave of the future but we haven't entered that era just yet!! Lol!!

You're talking about the company that still has nautilus submarines, skyway cars, and mr toads wild ride cars stashed around. Six months is nothin. If you were visiting in 2020 and had a pp+ lanyard yeah maybe they might not have lanyards but they'd still find a way to make it work.

Hahahaha! I guess I'm just used to my husband telling me to relax cause I'm planning "too early".

No, but they can go close and if you don't do an immediate back up, you might lose it all. Like I said, ** been there done that**. We lost thousands of pics. I always print those that mean something, just in case. And we are totally cloud storage now. The one photo that absolutely kills me is the family photo after we opened LTT while they still had characters. It was all of us and all the characters in a way that can't be repeated.

We are in our first day at WDW now. We pre purchased PP+ & took the voucher in for the PP+ card & lanyard this morning. We were told that we could use our magic bands to have photos taken & link everything using the MDE website later to the PP+.

At this stage, I have the photos taken with my magic band & with the PP+ visible in my MDE account. I have also managed to get the PP+ card linked to my wife's MDE account, but the we haven't yet tried linking all the magic band photos into one account for PP+ purposes yet as the only photo we had was already scanned by the photog onto both magic bands.

At Belle's encounter, the photog gave us a new PP card with all photos taken on it. My wife went to the PP counter to have this extra PP card linked to our PP+ account.

Hope this info helps.

I am planning to call tomorrow about this new program. I purchased PP+ WAYYYY in advance for a trip in October 2014. I am going to ask how to link this to my stay (have package with tickets) and whether or not it will be PP+ or the new program. I'll let you know.

It will be PhotoPass plus and you can't link it to your stay.

I am very interested in who in the party can ask to have pictures taken. We are going with 10 adults and purchased multiple packages (1 per family group). With Memory Maker can anyone in the group *ask* to have a picture taken with a photographer, or only the person who's name is on it?

Today was Blizzard Beach for us, so no photos taken. Will find out about the linking later.

With the old PP+ system, you didn't need to purchase multiple packages, just one PP+ package for all people. Then get a PP card for each person & link all PP cards into the PP+ package. I'm still unsure how this works with the new system although the PP booth said it still works, but need to be done online in MDE. I haven't found out how yet.

Half the purpose of friending friends and family in my Disney experience is so their photos show up in your account. If they show up in your account you can download them

Wait so if I friend my parents their photos will show up in our MM account? They will be traveling with us and might take pictures with my kids. I might not be there but will want the photos. We would link the MM to my band. Our reservations are linked.
