***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

I am planing on visiting Disney World in December or January and not staying at a Disney Resort.

1. Can I get FP+? How?

2. If I stay at a Disney Resort for part of my stay, can I get FP+ during the remainder of my stay.

3. How important is FP+ to getting the most out of your trip?

Thanks!

MB do not require "activation". The are working when they arrive at your house. If your AP is linked, it should work at the park. You will need to check in for room key and charging access.

I was there last week - and this information was absolutely correct for me!!

I have another question along these same lines - sorry if it has been answered already.

We have a trip planned for Dec and we have DVC APs. APs were linked to our MDE account and they expired on 10/25 so now we have DVC AP renewal vouchers which were linked to our account (MBs ?) with a will call number. I am assuming since these are renewal vouchers (especially DVC related) then we will need to have them activated on the MBs.

Has anyone had any experience with DVC AP renewal vouchers being linked to MBs?

Thanks!

Working on our upcoming Jan trip and I wasn't sure if we could book two different times for test track on the same day. Is this possible??

No. It is once per attraction per day.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the MB and FP+ are linked to your Disney resort reservation, so you can't use MB or FP+ at all unless you stay on property. If I'm incorrect in this, someone correct me :). It's a perk for staying on site just like EMH.

I think the FP+ being important would have to do with different factors. One of the most important being when you go. If you visit on Christmas week or during spring break, it might give you a great advantage. But, if you're visiting in mid September when lines are nonexistent, it won't matter much. It might help you plan better, but if you're like me, I don't like to plan to heavily beyond where I'll be eating.

I can't fully explain it, but you are not correct, here. Initial testing was with on site, but now Disney is testing with the Swan and Dolphin, which is technically non-Disney. Those guests will not be able to do their magic band until they arrive at their hotel, but they get to use it. How far Disney will extend the privilege to other resorts we will have to see how this pans out. Others non-Disney resorts may not wish to participate. We will have to see how this all works out. Non-Disney resort guests may have to pay for a magic band. We are not sure of this aspect yet.

I believe magic bands will become available to everyone eventually. The advantage of being onsite is you may be able to book your fastpass plus ahead of everyone else, which would be an advantage to a degree.

If you stop and think how many people have annual passes who would be furious if they couldn't use fastpass plus. Disney is not about to isolate those individuals.

Regular fastpass is being replaced by fastpass plus.

Right now, I'm planing on being in Orlando from the December 7th through December 15th. I'm considering staying on property the nights of the 12th and 13th, in part to get FP+.

I do like planing things out in advance (as much as possible; my last trip was a very well planned success, but it poured when it was time for me to get engaged. I was barely able to cox my now-wife through the gigantic puddles in the MK).

Well I have a question. We will be booking a dvc resort for June 2014. We are thinking about getting APs because our next trip will be April of 2015. Since the AP gets activated when we get there, does it mean I can't get FPs ahead of time? In all our previous trips we have maximized FP use, so it's a big deal to us to book the ones we really want.

Here is how I understand it:

1. MB and FP+ are both part of MyMagic+, a next gen initiative from Disney but ARE NOT the same.
2. MB is an active Radio Frequency ID (RFID) media that allows people to swipe to charge, gain access to rooms, access FP+ entrances.
3. Swan and Dolphin guests are NOT receiving Magic Bands.
4. Swan and Dolphin guests will likely access FP+ kiosks IN THE PARKS ONLY by using RFID cards tied to their park tickets. S&D does not current have, or is planning to have, RFID enabled room access.
5. Currently, before NOV 4th, FP+ access is only through a enabled account from a qualifying stay that includes access to MB. For example, some offsite guests with a split stay can have FP+ access throughout their entire MDE linked ticket if they have at least part of their stay onsite.
6. It is assumed that offsite/Swan and Dolphin/Shades of Green/AP guests will be able to access FP+ in the future through RFID tickets linked to the MDE website. It is possible that MB's will be offered to these guests at a fee.

Edited: Bottom line, previous or current MB access (whether you used MB or not) is currently a requirement for FP+ but will likely NOT be in the future (actually starting tomorrow for a few guests!)

Statements 5 and the "bottom line" are incorrect. MagicBands are NOT required to access FP+, and conflicts with statement 4. Otherwise how would they offer it to S/D guests starting tomorrow? :)

Fastpass+ can be accessed by anyone with an MDX account that has been "enabled" for Fastpass+, with any RFID media associated with that account. That can include MagicBands, KTTW cards, Annual Passes and Magic Your Way tickets, although the latter two might not be fully activated yet (I forget if anyone with an AP tested using that card to redeem a FP+ - most people are using MBs at this time)

I just order these neoprene miracle bands...

Though they're gonna hate me when i get there, cause not only am I not gonna be confident in them...I'm gonna ask that a ticket be stripped off from the band. (Which I'm told by the magic band helpdesk can be done but I have no faith whatsoever)

I'm guessing the chances of success are somewhere just below the margin of error.

At what point are all the "good" slots full on the headliner attractions? I am checking in at Wilderness Lodge on Friday 12/20. I have customized my magic bands, but do not currently have valid tickets. I am waiting for them to arrive from Undercover Tourist (should be just a couple more days). I am within the 60 day window now (57 days out). How long before all the "good" fast passes are gone?
I am here today, to attend a conference. Bought a 1 day, Special Conference, after 4pm ticket. Purchased it at 2:30 today and will use it tomorrow.

There is plenty of FP+ selections available. I choose a Mission Space and Soarin'...for when I get there tomorrow afternoon. Checked DHS too - and there is availability for TOT, RnR, Star Tours, TSM.

This is great, considering there would be no way for me to do Soarin' without FP+ when arriving at 4:00pm. (Well, unless I was willing to do it stand-by). :)

Dec 20th is a completely different animal...

You're not gonna be able to book hardly anything 12/22-1/2...I would assume...unless you do the whole wait up at night thing.

That is the only logical assumption - but it is an assumption, as this is a brand new "frontier".

The "savings" of buying third party ticket vendors here will probably not be worth the effect to the fastpass booking window.

But again... This is new so it's hard to know for sure.

You are correct. I can utilize FP+ using my RFID enabled AP card. I can tap it to redeem FP+ and tap it on the kiosks to make/change FP+.

Thanks for confirming (again) - I can't keep these details straight any more. :)

I expect the same for those who retain their original MYW tickets (as long as they were already RFID)

True. 12/20 will likely be a different animal. I should have just posted my stuff and should have not quoted someone asking about FPs around the holiday! I was just (happily) surprised I was able to get FPs scheduled just a day shy of going to the park. :)

Elaborate on the kiosks... If anyone pleases?

I hadn't thought/heard of this before.

(To be fair...I only recently paid it any attention though because it hasn't been picked up on the radar yet)

Some number of kiosks are/will be located in each park to allow FP+ reservations and modifications to reservations. These appear to be primarily intended for use by those without access to MDE via mobile devices.

You are correct, tomorrow is a game changer! What I was trying to say, poorly as you pointed out, was that PRIOR TO TOMORROW, you had to have previously, or are currently participating in, a qualifying resort stay, which also required you to be sent magic bands. Certainly you didn't actually have to use the media itself, other RFID mechanisms would work. Sorry about the confusion. I have edited previous post.
