New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

I think the first decision is to be sure of the side by side vs tandem. Test drive them if you haven't already, but it sounds like you might have and like the side by side. We very much preferred the tandem. We wanted a travel system, so our options were very limited. We got the Duoglide LX(?) and think it's a really nice stroller. This was all done with the thought in mind that most of the time, we'll use a lightweight Peg Perego umbrella style stroller (one for each), as long as we have 2 people to push. We will really ONLY ever use the double now while they are infants that need the carriers, and when I'm by myself.

we got a used duoglide at our twins club sale and that was good in the beginning but now I have an InStep double jogger that I use all of the time. It drives like a dream! I just use a shopping cart with my infant carseats when I need to do bigger shopping, one in the top seat part and one in the basket. I put groceries in the bottom and around the carseat. I hope soon to be getting rid of the infant eats and getting new carseats. I am going to ge rid of the duoglide if you want it...not sure how we would arrange it, but maybe could be done!

Jennifer..how was your first night home with the girls?

It was great! We had kept them in the hospital to get used to it while we had help if we needed it, so we had at least done it before. Being at home was actually infinitely nicer, because it was much quieter and we didn't have to be on anyone else's schedule. Because of their low birth weight (especially Avery), we have them on a strict schedule (as in waking them up every 3 hours regardless of what's going on), so they really are already sticking with it! Last night we obviously got up with each feed, and then had to either get or stay up with them just 2 additional times (once for crying between feeds, once for trouble going back to sleep). I'm getting a ton more sleep than I have since, oh, Christmas! I knew that would be the case :) DH on the other hand has never had a lick of trouble sleeping, so he's having a bit of trouble adjusting. I keep telling him it could be much worse! ;)

yay!!! I am glad you are all settling in nicely..ok, well except for your hubby not sleeping well!!! :goodvibes Again, PM or Email anytime!

Meredith, I just looked at your picture link finally. Sam and Zoe are getting so big, and I can't believe how much they look alike! Those are some great photos! Please add more now that the link is there, as they grow! :goodvibes

I plan on adding more pics. I am going to do an album for each month with just a few pics. I guess our multiples thread was kinda a bust...we'll try again....There is also a new moms thread that I post on.

I still haven't posted there, have I?! I'll go there. I glanced and saw that they referred you to the traveling thread, but I like the idea of a community board thread. We'll try and keep it going! ;)

Congratulations Tasha! Can't wait to see photos and hear your birth story!

Boy, do I remember those early days with twins!! Mine ate every 1 1/2 hours! Noah is much better. He eats every 2-3 hours so I actually get a little sleep with him. :)

We also used a Tandem stroller. It was easier to get through aisles. I also did the same thing as Meredith at the grocery store. One carseat in top and one down in the basket and I tucked groceries around that one. It was hard, but I look back now and all I can think about is how blessed I was. I miss my girl. :(

I was going to ask if all the new moms here were going to head to the new moms thread. I need to post over there too.

Well, turns out my quick recovery has impressed both my OB and the nurses so they decided to let me discharge a day early! Woo hoo! My milk had not come in yet and Cohen went from 9 lbs 2 oz to 8 lbs 4 oz in the course of 2 days! He is also just a tad jaundiced. So I am home now and we are very glad but we have to go back to the hospital on Sunday for a jaundice and weight check.

The good news is that my milk came in today and Cohen went from having issues to suddenly being a breastfeeding champ. It was instant! I seriously started thinking my baby was a different one or something. BFing is now going fantastic and I can't believe how quickly he turned it around so I'm sure we will have no issues during his weight check either. I am also not worried about the jaundice as it is very mild and my dd also had it like that and it was gone just from her pooping it away...literally. I am expecting the same with him.

Anyway, I took tons of pictures but have had company ever since we got home so I haven't had time to upload those yet. I am also really, really tired from not sleeping much the past few days. I am going to try my best to get pictures on here in the next day or 2 when I am not so drowsy.

I haven't read any of the posts I missed yet but will go back and do that soon too. Hope you are all doing well!

Just wanted to let you all know I added a couple pictures in my signature of my little 3 year old princess and my new little man. Cohen is very, very likely our last child since dh really has only ever wanted 2 kids and is talking about getting a vasectomy sometime in the next year and I'm feeling that our family is probably complete too...so I feel very blessed and am enjoying every minute with them as I know just how fast it will go by. :)

I can't even begin to describe how in love I am with Cohen already. I had actually wondered if I would ever be able to love any other child the way I love Kylie and the answer is a definite YES! I love them both more than I could ever express in words.

Anyway, sorry for being all gushy, I am just feeling truly happy to have such a wonderful family at the moment. Thanks for all the support I have received on this thread the past 9 months. It sure went by fast! Good luck to those of you that are still pregnant or just found out you are pregnant. I wish you all safe and wonderful pregnancies and deliveries! :)

Oh my gosh Tasha, that baby is so cute, and your daughter certainly is a little princess! I don't know why, but I love pics where big siblings are holding new babies. They always make me tear up :) And BTW, that puppy bib is pretty adorable too!

Huge congrats and I'm so glad to hear that you're home and feeling so good. :cheer2:

Tasha+Scott: I bought that little puppy outfit too...can't wait for my DS to wear it. It is too cute. Great pictures

Unfortunately, the only thing that touched mine was Zofran. If you aren't against taking it (obviously safe), then you might ask your OB if things get too bad!

I finally have the pictures in our Picasa album from the first day at least! :rotfl: After that day, the numbers drop off significantly! ;) If you're interested, the album is here. Otherwise, our site has a few new entries, one of which has about 20 photos -- but not really that wide a variety. :goodvibes

Tasha, He is so cute! I've been feeling the same way about being able to love another child and especially since I didn't want another boy. But now I'm head over heels in  with Noah and can't believe I didn't want a boy. :lovestruc I am still hoping to have one more though. I would still like to have another girl, but now I'm wondering if I can love her as much as I'm loving little Noah. :rotfl2: Guess we always feel that way.
