New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Another congratulations to all the new mommies!

October - I know what you mean about being able to love another, but you just do and out of nowhere the love just comes. I'm feeling the same way right now, especially the little girl part. I'm still having trouble dealing with the thought of another boy.

CONGRATS on your new baby!

I have a ? for everyone...
I'm almost 36 weeks pregnant. A few days ago I had (TMI) diarreah, stomach cramps and nausea. I'm thinking that this could be the start of the baby getting ready to come. I still don't feel good. I've been having constant BH since 24 weeks and was diagnosed with irratable uterus, so it would be no suprise if the baby did come a few weeks early. OB said she should be ready to come and there shouldn't be a problem if she decides to make an early entrance.
Does this sound like my little one is on her way?

A ton of people will tell you yes, and many articles would support that. That being said, don't get your hopes too high up... that happened to me several times for about 4 weeks before delivering, and I was on bedrest for PTL -- they still didn't come. There were cervical changes that were going on at the same time, but active labor definitely wasn't around the corner. When I was in active labor, I felt just "normal".

Unfortunately, I think as much as we try to figure out if it's coming (whether we want labor or want to stave it off), it just gets here when it gets here, and even the "warning signs" are just to be cautious -- they aren't dead giveaways, by any means. Either way, not too much longer! :goodvibes

We have some hospital pictures online, finally! I guess they've been up a couple of days, but I never got the email I was supposed to :confused3

Kyle and I were actually going to completely bypass the hospital photo shoot, because I just feel like we get infinitely better shots ourselves than I tend to see from the hospital photographer, in this day of digital cameras and hundreds of the same shots all day :rolleyes1

I'm glad we didn't, though! The Christ Hospital outsources their photography service, and I'm so impressed with the job the photographer did! We didn't even bring in a real outfit or anything because we weren't really interested, so I'm glad we had a pair of onesies (decorated by my sister) that looked pretty cute with the blanket used as a background.

Here's the site, and if they ask for a password it's kjea2008.

I agree with Tink. I had the false labor signs such as cramping, diarrhea, etc. several times and never even dilated/effaced and made it to my c-section date. With my dd I had the same signs over and over again for several weeks and still went past my due date and needed an induction so you never know. Of course it is possible that your body is getting ready to go into full-blown labor too. I just don't think there is any real way to know until it happens unfortunately. Hopefully it will happen for you soon and you will have your little girl in your arms soon!

As for us, Cohen's jaundice had gotten worse. His levels were 9.2 when we left the hospital and by our newborn follow up 2 days later had jumped up to 17.8 which put him in the high risk category. We have had him on a biliblanket the past couple days and have been going for daily heel pricks to see if there is improvement. Yesterday his numbers dropped to 15.3 and today they are 14.7 so definite improvement...thankfully! We are keeping him on the biliblanket at least 2 more days and they are giving us a "rest" day from driving for a heel prick tomorrow so our next check up is Thursday. I am hoping his levels will be good enough then to get him off the blanket all together.

He has been really lethargic since coming home due to this so nursing has been a definite trial and error process here. We are getting better now that his levels are dropping and I am also pumping and my supply seems pretty good so far at least. We have also supplemented an oz or 2 of formula a couple of times when he didn't nurse well at all. His weight had dropped twice since birth. He went from 9.2 at birth to 8 lbs 1.1 oz at his lowest. But since pumping and working extra hard with him the past couple days we are back up to 8 lbs 4 oz which is what he was when we left the hospital so there is definite improvement there too. I am so relieved that he is making such quick progress and hope he keeps it up.

Other than that, I thought I'd share a few pictures with you. I may check out the new moms thread too. I was a member of the old one and made some good friends there that I still talk to sometimes daily but I don't have as much time now as I did then so we'll see. Anyway, here are the pictures:

This is the one in my signature but here is a bigger version. I have been known to change my signature frequently in the past (though not as much these days) so who knows when that picture will suddenly be replaced.

Scott, Kylie, and Cohen. Scott would not be happy that I posted this picture. He was really tired and not at his best...but then, none of us were that day! ;)

OMGosh, Jen, the twins are just too cute! You must be so in love and happy with your new family of 4! :)

Tasha, I am totally smitten! :lovestruc So much so, in fact, that I thought I'd share the hospital pictures as well. Actually, I feel like we got some that were as good, but I was impressed with the photographer's skills to get the girls so alert on just day 2 of life --and at the same time!

Your pictures are fantastic, thank you for sharing! Big sister does look very proud! :goodvibes

Hi all! I finally had my first Dr's appt. on Monday and got to see my little blob! All appears well with the baby (thankfully, just one!!! No offense to mother's of multiples, but if you check out my sig., you will see why twins would have been scary! :rotfl2: )

So far, my cervix looks great, but it is way too early to worry about that. Dr. has also promised that she would monitor my cervix herself, and that there will be no shots or high-risk doctor unless absolutely necessary. So, maybe I will finally get my "normal" pregnancy! That is, if I can survive morning sickness with 2 toddlers!

BTW Jennifer, your hospital pics are amazing! With both boys, I paid a ton of money for photo packages that never got passed out, they were so bad (and one was taken by husband's aunt who was a nurse).

That's exactly why we didn't plan for a second to have them taken! We are thrilled with this company the hospital uses, or at least this photographers work with our girls! :)

I'm so excited for you to have such a wonderful appointment! I hope things continue to progress smoothly! :goodvibes:

Well darn, the site down right now, Tink. I wanted to see your photos. I'll have to check later. Noah's were okay, but Expensive!!! Not sure I'm going to order any...

Tasha, Noah had jaundice too. He was on the biliblanket for about 24 hours and we had to supplement as well. Luckily we were able to use the dropper while breastfeeding, and had no problems there. Once my milk came in he wanted absolutely nothing more to do with what was coming out of that dropper! :) Sounds like Cohen is steadily improving. ::yes::

Noah had his two week check up today and he has gained 1lb 1oz in the past 9 days!! He gained back his birhtweight plus 10 more ounces. What can I say? The kid likes to eat! :rotfl2: In fact I haven't gotten much rest the last two days cause that's all he's wanted to do! He's going to be quite the little chunk if he keeps this up. :)

He's doing really well though and is just the cutest thing. I am so in  .

You guys are making me so excited to have this little guy! I still have 8 weeks left! My shower is on saturday & thats gonna make me even more antsy!

Hi all! Just back from my OB appointment and I lost 2 pounds. I'm not worried though, because last month I gained way too much because we had just returned from vacation.

Little man is doing well and I'm measuring at 29 weeks. Now I have to go for the glucose test and get my rhogam shot within the next week or so.

I'm also donating the cord blood. The Brady Cohn foundation (local) takes it for free and if we ever need it, they give it back no charge.

That's my latest and greatest. Now I'm just trying to potty train my 2yo. UGH!

I ended up failing the one hour and just did the 3 hr test yesterday. I did well (as in not passing out or anything) and was only really tired by the end of the day. Now just to wait for the results. I also have to have my blood drawn next wed before my next appt thurs to determine for sure if I am a negative bloood type. That makes 6 blood draws within 2 weeks. I am going to be a walking bruise for a while as it does not take much for me to bruise.

We had our 3D u/s just about 2 weeks ago. Here is our first princess at 28 weeks, 4 days. We have 3 boys at home anxious to meet their new sister.

Did I kill the thread??

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend. We are off to a swim meet and then have nothing else for the rest of the weekend.

Enjoy!

No silly, no killing of threads here :lmao: I was having a really hard time logging on yesterday!

Those 3D pics are soo cool. I keep going back and forth about having one done. DH couldn't care less, but seeing your pics makes me want to do it! It'll be so neat to see you're little princess once she's born to see how the pictures compare :)

I really really hope this baby it's on it's way. NOW I have nausea really bad for the past few days, I can't even eat or lay down. It feels like acid is in the my throat constantly and tums does absolutely nothing. I still am having stomach upset and diarreah pains, I can barely walk because when I stand up I get bad stomach cramps. I can't go too much longer feeling like this, I'm miserable! I'm 36 weeks 1 day today. I'm ready.
