For you mommies who were anemic... how long until you felt better after iron supplements? DH and I knew I was anemic because I'm a walking textbook case (pale as heck, exhausted, short of breath, lightheaded, etc). We started a mild increase in iron recently, and drew more blood... today the nurse said to start immediately on a new one, because I'm still significantly so. Ironically, regardless of potential side effects, I'm ecstatic to be starting on it, and hope to feel like a new person soon! :rotfl:

It took me about three weeks to start feeling better. I thought it was because I was pregnant. I never felt that way with the others. I was out of breath and exhausted. I would sit down and start falling asleep. I was so exhausted. So I started thinking ack what if I have cancer or something else. When they told me I was anemic and more iron would fix it I was relieved. Good luck you should feel like a new person soon.

Well, I was borderline at my first visit with my OB (at 11 weeks, after I transferred from an RE clinic). They added a bit then, but at my most recent visit I begged them to draw more blood (they weren't going to again until about 24 weeks), and the nurse called back and said, "Whoa, you really are anemic. I think this extra amount iron we'll give you will really help". She 'apologized' for having to put me on it, but I ran out and got it filled and took it, the happiest I've been in weeks! :rotfl:

I was mildly anemic for a bit in early high school (before I was on birth control, when my periods were insanely heavy). I remember being exhausted, but nothing like this. Of course, I also got yelled at for not meeting my caloric requirement, etc at my last appointment. I'm hoping the iron helps some, but I'm thinking one requirement to feeling completely human again will be to evict these two (beautiful, very welcome) parasites from my uterus .... :rolleyes1

Until then, I better just take the supplements and eat all freaking day like my OB wants me to! I suppose I would feel equally as tired if I were starving myself, which is essentially what is happening since the babies steal everything first! ;) Seriously, I find that so cool.... what a miracle that our bodies work so hard to sustain other life first. :lovestruc

Thanks for the input!

i went to doc and confirmed i'm 4 weeks along estimated due date oct 19. Will call the ob/gyn on monday, bought veggies, prenatel vitamins, trying to think on names, need to start a baby registry .

Congrats!!!

Claire Renee was born on February 13th at 3:19 pm. :lovestruc She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She has a head full of thick, dark hair. I was induced and everything went smoothly and quickly.

I will try to post pictures as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Yay!!! Welcome to the world Claire Renee!!! :cool1:

Aiden Robert arrived feb 15th @9:16 am He weighed 8 lbs 9.5 oz. 21 in long. Head was 36cm:scared1: everything thing went smoothly except we had a hard time witht the head. I'm only 5 ft 2 so let's just say he ripped me a good one, but he's doing great. I'll also post pics later. I'll be released tomorrow morning.

Congrats!!! Welcome to the world Aiden Robert!!! :cool1: Grayson's head was also 36cm. His ped says 35 cm is average. I swear his head looks so tiny, though!!!

Welcome Aiden and Claire!!! I'm glad things went well with the births.

My baby shower was very nice. I got to see my cousin who I have not seen in three years. Got a lot of really cute stuff. :woohoo:

Well I have had the flu for the past 5 days. My poor DH is sick as well. Guess the flu shot didn't work. Can't seem to shake this stupid fever. I seem to be living off of tylenol and water. The Dr said the fever is not high enough to be concerned just to keep an eye on it, stay hydrated and ride it out.

Welcome to all the new mommies to be and to all the new babies! Congratulations!

A little update on my girl~ Emmaline is doing well. We were able to discontinue using the bili blanket yesterday, which means no more daily bloodwork. YAY! I've been nursing her like a champ and the doctor says it helped immensely. I've started pumping and freezing already and have 8 bags of milk in the freezer. I haven't used my Avent duo pump yet, but my Avent manual pump is awesome. Today I got 2.5 oz in 6 minutes. Not bad at all...

My mom came back on Tuesday to stay with us for 2 weeks and she has been a Godsend. She has helped us so much and just being here has helped alleviate some of my anxieties.

DH's family came to visit today and met their granddaughter and we had such a great visit. My SIL is a photography major and took some amazing pictures. Now I just have to get them from her.

Thanks for all of the updates.

:wizard: Congratulations candeeapril and nannerbadnanner:cool1:
Can't wait to see pictures of the little blessings.

Awesome news!!! I know those things are a pain.. we were supposed to have a bili blanket for Amanda, but ended up with a bili bed (long story).. HATED that thing. And the bloodwork, UGH! I can feel your pain. Poor Amanda had her heel pricked so many times in the hospital (for something else, mind you), and then for the jaudice, once we got home! It's so hard to see them getting pricked at all, let alone every day!! Right after the jaundice was done, she had the darn PKU done! So glad that's all over :)
Way to go on the pumping!! I haven't really started doing that yet. Need to work on it though. I also have an Avent manual.

Hope you can stand another picture! :) Here's one of Amanda's 1 month old pics!! Where did the time go?

I just got back from the doctor. This doctor wants to wait until 39 weeks until they induce. She wants to wait until then so his lungs can mature more (since it takes longer due to the diabetes). She doesn't want to let me get to 40 weeks though. I am 37 weeks 4 days now, so not much longer.

I go back Thursday for yet another NST.

Holly, she is just too cute. :cutie:

:welcome: Welcome basketrn! :welcome:

I, too, am pregnant after our first IVF cycle. Please check in after your ultrasound tomorrow! I hope you can see the HB, but keep in mind that it's seriously not there one day, then it is the next... we had no trouble at 6w3d, but sometimes people don't see something until later in 6 weeks. I hope, of course, for your sake that you have a nice strong one at TOMORROW'S scan! :wizard: Any chance for multiples.....? :teeth:

Totally cute, Holly!

:wizard: Welcome, basketrn!:wizard: :wizard: Good luck with your U/S tomorrow.

I head to my 12 week visit tomorrow. This will be the first real OB visit - heartbeat and everything.

Holly, Amanda is so cute. I love the way she's looking at her teddy!

Congrats Basketrn. Welcome to the group.

AFM: I've been out of town. My grandma (Granny) passed away Valentine's morning, so we just got home from out of state. :(

I got Noah's bedding ordered from Penney's and it's a special order so it could take up to 11 weeks! I want it NOW! ;) All is going well though. He's an active little baby and I love feeling him move around.
