New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

First time poster on this thread and thought I would introduce myself. :wave2:

I am currently 11 weeks along with baby #4. I currently have 3 boys, 10, 8 and 5. So, yeah, this baby will be six years behind my youngest :scared1: . I am basically starting all over. I go in next week for the NT ultrasound, since I will be 35 when this baby is born. I am totally freaked that something will be wrong. Now that I have scared you all off....:rolleyes1

I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's pregnancies and arrivals of their little ones.

CONGRATULATIONS, and WELCOME! You are totally not alone! I just had my 3rd daughter, 4 weeks ago (:scared1: ), and my other two are 10 and 8 years old!! I started all over too, and I'm 38! But you know what, I think that I enjoyed it so much more this time around. Many people I know (who had babies later on), had told me that it was so much easier than when they were younger, and so much more enjoyable! So far, I'm finding that to be very true! Amanda is such an easy baby!!

I was scared that something would be wrong too, but she's just fine. They have to give you all the risks, but honestly, don't worry. Go for the first trimester screening.. just a very detailed, and long, sonogram, and bloodtest. My results came back with a personalized risk factor just for me, that my doc said was better than for women in their 20's! :woohoo:

LOL! I was snapping away the other day while Amanda was asleep, when all of a sudden, as if on cue, she stuck out her hand as if to say, "No pictures, please!" :rotfl:

Holly-Thanks for the words of encouragment. It does feel so weird to be starting over again, but I am very excited. Hey, I get to buy all the new stuff that they didn't have when my youngest was a baby. ;) I am going to stay positive about the screenings and just pray with all of my heart that everything is fine.

It is very true, there is so much out there that we didn't have so many years ago. Much of it is really unnecessary, too. I ran into my 8year old DD's first grade teacher at Babies R Us the other day. She was working on her baby registry (she's having her first), and she was very overwhelmed! I gave her a few suggestions on what to register for.. what will be needed, and what wasn't.

I was really worried about the whole Amnio and CVS tests. After my first trimester screening, my doctor advised me AGAINST the Amnio! He said the risk was much higher that I'd miscarry, than have any problems.. based on the results of that first trimester screening. Somehow though, I knew all would be okay. :)

I too am 35 and had the ultrasound and blood test, and the results came back just like yours - I had a better risk factor than women in their 20's. My OB also advised against the amnio, but I had decided against it anyway. I really liked the ultrasound/blood test option because there was no risk to the baby, and found the same results that the amnio did.

I had to go back around 20 weeks for another ultrasound to determine risk for spinabifida (sp?) but those results too looked perfect!

Welcome and Congrats!!! "Starting over" has actually been wonderful for us! I have been able to really cherish every moment of this baby. The older 2 love him to pieces, and we have all day together while they are in school- I'm honestly getting plenty of sleep! :goodvibes Oh, and labor and delivery were a breeze compared to the first two!

And all the new stuff! It was so much fun to register, have showers, etc all over again. :goodvibes Most of the stuff we have is really just new and improved from what we had 11 years ago- like the Pack N Play. The one we had with DD was basically a box. The one we have now holds diapers and wipes, has a changing table, a basinette w/hood, a changing table, and plays music and nature sounds, AND vibrates. :)

LOVE IT!!!!

Love all the new baby pics, especially the ones who've had enough!

DS has also always been very skinny for his height, ranging from 20-40% taller than his weight. I have found that the pants at Old Navy tend to fit him better than anywhere else, and some even have a belt that works a little. I also can't stand the Gerbie onesies, they are very cheaply made, and just don't fit well. The Carters are much better! :thumbsup2

Oh, how adorable!

:welcome: :jumping1: Welcome Mickey Fliers! :jumping1: :welcome: When is your due date?

For you mommies who were anemic... how long until you felt better after iron supplements? DH and I knew I was anemic because I'm a walking textbook case (pale as heck, exhausted, short of breath, lightheaded, etc). We started a mild increase in iron recently, and drew more blood... today the nurse said to start immediately on a new one, because I'm still significantly so. Ironically, regardless of potential side effects, I'm ecstatic to be starting on it, and hope to feel like a new person soon! :rotfl:
