DVC Members may be able to obtain a 25% discount when reserving a DVC room and paying cash (as opposed to using points). These discounts may or may not be available at certain times. It's worth asking about. But once you see the 'asking price' for the DVC rooms, it makes most of us gulp, even with 25% off. If you book a DVC room by paying cash, no deposit is taken ahead of time and it's not charged to your credit card until check in. You can still go on a waitlist to get that night on points and cancel the cash reservation up to 5 days before. The points reservation and cash reservation are linked by Member Services, so you don't have to check out and run the danger of having to change rooms.

[I'm assuming you're aware that a very small % of DVC rooms are normally available through Central Reservations + some become available because Members use points for a cruise or other non-DVC vacation. There could be availability for a room through CRO when Member Services shows nothing available with points or cash.] Good luck!

Keep asking questions and call Member Services and be sure to get someone who is helpful to you. Don't waste time with someone who isn't willing to check various dates at the various resorts and who isn't trying to educate you on your options.
