I have a Magic Band+ I bought during the WDW 50th anniversary. I thought I'd throw it in for our upcoming DLR visit. A few questions:

1) Do I need to pair it with the DLR app? If so, can you point me toward some instructions?
2) Is there a full list of special effects I want to make sure I find?

1) yes, it needs to be paired to the DLR app. It will need to be unpaired from your WDW app most likely first.

2) good question. I’d like to see a list too.

During my last trip, the most noticeable effect for me was when you are exiting the HM. It seemed to be triggered by parades and fireworks too, but I wasn’t paying as much attention when that was going on.

I do not believe you have to unpair it from My Disney Experience, but it does need to be added to your DLR app. They do work a little differently though in that at WDW the band is paired to your MDE Profile, but at DLR the band is assigned to a ticket (and thus a ticket holder). It's similar, but slightly different.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I found the spot in the DLR app to link it to one of my tickets. It also let me know it needed to be updated, so I did that as well. That spot on the app also has a list of experiences so that answered my other question.

I've used my MB+ at both DLR and WDW without issues. I'll be using it on a cruise this year, and I don't plan on unpairing it from any of the other apps.

In terms of DLR interactions, it's much more limited than WDW. As someone noted, HM is one place. Tiana's sometimes. Spiderman. Mickey and Minnie's. There are probably a few others, mostly as you leave the ride. It also lights up during most nighttime shows.

My family enjoys the ease of using them at DLR, and it's especially worth it if you already have one. If you get an MEP from a broken-down ride (far more common at DLR than WDW, based on the way the LL system works), then it's good practice to scan the LL from the phone instead of your MB+ if you want to preserve an MEP for something else (e.g., if you book a new LL for the ride since it was broken down and use the MEP for a different ride).
