"New" Member Cards ?!? #%@

guess I will have to call too you can not even read our names on our cards, the cast member at the disney store had to punch in something else because she could not read my husband's or mine member ###

I don't get it.... Did everyone (who had an expiry date) have the same date? Mine was to expire on 10/31/2002.

Why would DVC set everyone to the same date? And then why would they mass mail these stickers to everyone, including newer members and those without an expiry???? What a mess...

There must not be any tracking of these exiry dates at all. With these stickers me thinks they're trying to get out of a pickle.

Now we're definately all on the same page..err..sticker. ;)

I have cards with no expiration date and I have no stickers yet either......

I think the "valid" stickers are partially in response to Disney Store workers who do not realize that the DVC cards are eligible for discounts. When they do get it straight they frantically look for an expiration date like the DC cards. I have had too many arguments with these workers over the past year or so. The cast members understand. The "workers" don't get it.

Zimbubba...DS "workers" are Cast Members too. They are looking for an expiration date b/c the register requires one to process the discount. Until the registers are fixed you'll have to continue to "tolerate" the CMs supposed "shortcomings".

You might have less arguments in the future if you locate the manager before you go to the register. Disney has been less than informative with TDS CMs - don't blame the CM for not knowing something that he hasn't been told. Find the manager, confirm the benefits...if the manager isn't aware then politely request that they check the SOP on DVC benefits. If that doesn't work then notify DVC MS as requested in our most recent Vacation Magic newsletter. Arguing, disrespect and a patronizing attitude won't get you anything but a bad reputation in your store.

I just received my "Valid Stickers". My card had no expiration date and neither do my new stickers. In addition I have been sent 8 stickers even though we have 4 cards and 4 family members holding cards. I can see that this new system was well thought out....

I personally can see no reason for having to track down the manager just to get a discount that's been in effect for 10 years. Poor communication and training is not the resposbility of the DVC member. I can understand if someone is new, otherwise I expect them to know how to complete it when I present my items for check out. If they don't know, then I expect them to find out from the appropriate person or manager. All of this can be done amicably and without contflict.

Hi there, we live in Dartmouth...what a small world!

...after all...

That's great to hear, I have only met a couple of people from the area that are members.

A simple resolution would be, and I believe it was mentioned earlier, to issue cards in the same design as room keys without an expiration. If the concern is that past members would continue to get discounts after a resale, then when you make a purchase run the member # at the register.

You could even go so far as to update membership cards with every resort stay, have a special design solely for members, which act as your room key/park admission/new ID card. This would actually make it easier for cast members who may miss noticing your membership on your room card when making purchases and then having to re-due the sale.

I don't know just another way to make us all feel special:crazy:

True, it can be done amicably and without conflict, however with DS currently staffing at a minimum, it might save the DVC member time and headaches by mentioning the discount to a manager prior to having the transaction rung. If you wait until you're at the register and then have to wait for a manager to be called over, you're adding to your own frustration as well as the frustration of those in line behind you. I never said it was the responsibility of the DVC member to get their deserved discount, I only mentioned that it might save time and trouble if the manager was located prior to heading to the register.

The original comment was a very crticial observation of Disney Store "workers" and a complaint about having had "too many arguments" - I only responded to be helpful and to help Zimbubba avoid arguments and confrontation in the future.

Additionally, it seems that you are not the type to verbally abuse a CM for not knowing about a discount that has been in effect for over 10 years, so this helpful hint was not necessarily directed at someone like you. It seems that some folks feel that arguing with a CM is the only way to get what they want. Unfortunately, CMs are only able to do what the registers allow them to do...in the case of a DVC discount the register requires an expiration date. If Members are frustrated by the fact that CMs "frantically search for an expiration date" perhaps they should direct that concern to MS and have that requirement removed from the registers.

As a DVC Member myself, I understand the desire for a hassle-free shopping experience and receipt of said discount. However, I also understand that arguing with CMs does nothing more than frustrate and embarass the CM.

I hear your suggestion but find that getting a manager in most places is a real hassle and far more difficult than putting that responsibility on the CM at the register if one is needed. I can see just mentioning it to any CM that may be nearby might be helpful. At our store locally we've never had a problem that I can recall. The trouble is that we don't shop there much anymore since they stopped carrying adult items other than sleepwear. My pocketbook sure is happy though.

Interesting...we received our stickers. I dug out our cards. We have no expiration date. I promptly deposited the stickers in the trash.

I hope they aren't looking for these on my cards when we go on our next trip.

According to the official web site, if you don't have an expiration, you don't need the stickers.

... that this subject has waranted 33 responses. You folks have nothing better to do than to worry about membership card renewals? Let's move on to something less trivial shall we.

Dean...fear not...adult items are supposedly on their way for the Holidays!

Maybe I should just stand on the side of the road with a cardboard sign that reads:

"Will work for Stickers."

I still don't have mine, and my card expires in 22 days.:( :( :(

Aw Nutz.

I think many are having a little fun with this thread. If you feel it is insignificant, you are welcome to move on.

Reg,I'd be happy to mail you my stickers if you need them.Let me know.:)

Thanks Dan, but I'm happy to report that TA DA!!! My stickers arrived in the mail today!!!!:D :D :D :D

It's nice to know that I no longer will be expiring on 10/31.;)

Got our stickers in the mail Friday or Monday and only one sticker actually had writing on it which was "lid". Our cards do say they expire 10/31/02 so I had to call and ask for them to send some more. I'm sure they thought issuing the stickers would save them time and money.......but it may be backfiring. Oh well. Their problem not mine this time. :D
