New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

None said ever that those "benefits" were promised or guarantee. But many of us said that without those benefits we wouldn't have made the PPO ADR and we would have choose something else or cancel.
We know that and that is why people are canceling their PPO ADR.

Fair enough. People who used the PPO for the unadvertised perks will probably cancel their meals. With regards to CP, I am not sure how many book that one to be first in line to the Mine Train, etc, so I do not think that PPO meal will be much easier to secure, but the folks who use BOG but do not want it for the meal may cancel and give those who want to eat a chance to get there before the park opens, dine and not lose the first hour in the park.

I never felt it was wrong for guests to use an opportunity to be in NFL before the park opened by booking BOG, order a cup of coffee, and skedaddling out. If Disney was okay, so was I. I will say that I felt it was a shame for those who actually wanted to eat to be shut out of that meal though, by folks who did not intend to eat.

Right - my point being Disney certainly knew full well that people were booking BOG, and CP before it (for ETWB and PP), so that they could get those "other" bonuses that some here are suggesting Disney somehow wasn't aware of or concerned with when they made this change in the entry procedures.

Not only did they KNOW that people were willing to pay for those other bonuses, they were smart enough to capitalize on it by charging even MORE than an ADR, but then offering a couple of other high demand rides. Genius, really.

Who here suggested "Disney wasn't aware of or concerned with [those "other" bonuses] when they made this change in the entry procedures"?

Yes. The folks who booked for the empty Main Street, which I do not think has existed except on rare occasion for the past few years, and now are upset that Disney has made changes in how they allow access have every right to feel how they feel, however I am not sure the ire is justified.

Personally, I do not think that the decision to allow early access to Main Street has anything to do with the PPO breakfast crowd. I think it has everything to do with Disney logistics. How to manage crowds al trying to enter at the same time, how to funnel the coffee and pastry folks in and out of Starbucks in a timely manner, and how to keep all those folks from clumping together in a huge ball before they get through the gates.

No one, sorry, shouldn't have gotten mixed up in it. I'm sure I read it all wrong.

I agree with this. :-)

Honestly I think Disney did this out of security concerns than crowd management, because we have seen with this changes other security changes.

:wave2: I'm on West Coast time, so, less than 10 hours into the New Year, here is the first general reminder: Please follow the DIS Guidelines when posting.

Everyone is entitled to participate in the discussion of the new Welcome Show without directing comments specifically at or to others.

Thanks! :)
20+ pages after my reminder^^, it still applies along with a reminder that sarcastic remarks do lead to Warnings/Infractions.

The BOG crowd might have impacted a decision to sell Early Morning Hours, which is what I believe you are describing. The package includes an early entry, unlimited access to three attractions for a period of time, and breakfast.

I wish Disney would have given the new morning dining event a different name that wasn't so close to EMH.

Early Morning Magic = Paid event that allows early entry, includes exclusive time on a few rides, plus a buffet breakfast.
Extra Magic Hours = Resort guest perk of early entry or later hours.

And MK is now opening at 8am President's Weekend, so my mental debate over my PPO CP is over ;) No way am I spending over an hour of park time first thing in the morning, so we switched to dinner. I was thinking the food might be slightly better at breakfast, but it's all about Pooh and the gang anyway! I'm more upset that instead of getting to MK at 7:45, we're going to end up getting there around 7am UGGG (but my kids will LOVE those waffles ;)

Good evening! We are thinking of adding EMM to our trip coming up in only four days! With the new opening show and everyone going on main stree at 7:45 or 8 (not sure which time is correct) we are wondering if that will cut into the time you have paid for. I know they let you in at 7:45 to start riding the three included rides....it seems like by the time you walk up into FL from the entrance, you are already at 8:00. I have also read that those eating a PPO BOG breakfast start getting in line at mine train at 8:45 and may be allowed to ride then. If that is so, will they let the EMM people go first since they paid to ride early? If all this is so..then you are down to really only having 45 minutes of time that you have paid for. If you have any knowledge of how this all works, please share! I need help deciding if we will get our money worth or not. Thanks!

I'm going to merge you to the Welcome Show thread because everyone has been adding reviews there.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked before....we are thinking about adding the extra morning magic to our package. Can someone please tell me how this change has or did affect EMM? Also, I read somewhere that BOG breakfast people start getting in line at mine train at

Thank you! I wasn't sure where to begin looking since the thread has gotten so long :)

As an EMM guest, you will be wearing wristbands and will be allowed access to 7D or PP before ADR guests. That was the procedure before the new Welcome Show changes.

CMs always make sure event guests have the priority. In other threads, EMM guests would begin heading to a priority ride (Space, BTMRR, etc) right before park opening.

Thank you so much! Just what we needed to know :)

So just to clarify, EMM guests will have full access to the rides up until 9 right? No one else will be riding before that time, correct? I also thought I had read somewhere on here that some who were there for a BOG PPO were allowed to enter 7DMT at 8:45..but I could have read that wrong.

Ah. Here is what was said but I can't find the actual post to quote it:

"We had a PPO reservation for BoG this morning - here's how it went.

When we checked in at the front of the park, we were given a piece of paper with a map of Main Street/Fantasyland on it and location indicators for BoG, CRT, and our second check-in point (to the left of the castle). We were let in with everyone else in line (incl. EMM) at 7:45 on the dot. We had originally planned on heading straight to BoG, but we noticed that the area in front of the castle was pretty much empty and the PP photographer closest to the castle only had one group in line. Everyone else had either stayed back on Main Street or gone ahead to breakfast.

After getting some pictures, we headed to the left and a CM checked our breakfast paper. BoG was pretty empty the whole time we were there, as opposed to how packed it was on the same Tuesday last year at the same time. At about 8:35, we went to 7DMT where there was a short line along the fence before you make the right turn to the ride (there was a CM there to hold people back).

We heard two announcements for the castle show ("in just five minutes" and "in just a few minutes") and at 8:45, they let us in to the 7DMT standby queue. By the time we got off, everyone else had already been let in and the line was long, as expected.

I don't think the new morning show affected our PPO "perks" in any way. If anything, the park felt less busy because everyone dispersed quickly."

I believe they were allowed into the Standby line. EMM loads through the FP line and would have priority loading at the vehicle.

Okay, that's what I thought happened too when I just re read it/posted it a minute ago.
