January? I heard late Spring to Summer. Can you post where you saw that date?
Same thing I heard, and I'm a regular Mac Rumors user. The rumor was posted re. January, but it hasn't been given much credence thus far.
Personally, I bought an iPad on Black Friday and ended up returning it this morning. I love absolutely everything about it except for the fact that Apple killed video playlists on it. It's ridiculous, because that's functionality that has been readily available on "lesser" devices such as iPod Touches and iPhones for at least the last 2 generations. That's a huge part of what I use my iPods for--I have a few hundred music videos which are in multiple playlists (including one that contains all of them) and like to be able to hit shuffle and have them play in random order through a dock connected to my TV. It's my background music while I work during the day. As 32GB has proven to be too small for my needs

, I decided to upgrade to 64GB and figured, "What the heck? Might as well upgrade the whole device and get an iPad--better for watching on plane trips, etc., not to mention everything else it can do!" I had no idea that the functionality had taken a step backward like that. Grrr.
Yeah, it's probably not something that would bother a lot of people, and if you have no need for video playlists, I say go for the iPad. It's a gorgeous device, not too heavy at all, and sure is easier on the eyes than watching videos on an iPhone. If they've managed to address my beef with it by then, I will be
ALL OVER the 2nd-gen iPad, but I'm not lookin' to see them in stores before spring or thereabouts.
