New Infraction System

Not even close, since the new system just started today. If you had been under the new system you still wouldn't be able to post since the minimum "timeout" ban is 10 days.

BUT ... If you want to be the first, just let me know. It can be arranged ! :smooth:

Doc, if you can arrainge a Tag Fairy visit, then yes, it would be worth a ten day banning to me! :scared1:

Keeping to the song motif.....I'm so vain, I thought this banning was about me, and my ascot is apricot!

So, you're striving to earn yet another ban? You might want to keep in mind the number of points you already have and really take a look at the infraction chart (and keep in mind the other warnings you have already received) before you get too glib about wanting something else. I would also want you to recall your past before doing something to further exacerbate your relationship on the DIS.

The Tag Fairy can't really be bought, but if you decide to go for that next ban, I'll put in a good word for you ;) - the only problem is that most likely no one would ever get to see the tag you earn - but I'm certain it would be a good one!

Be careful what you ask for ... you just might get it.

I haven't heard the word 'glib' since the big Matt Lauer/Tom Cruise blowup.

God I hate conflict, it's making me nervous. I have to leave the thread.....

I do think the new system is a good idea though, just wanted to weigh in before I go hide in the corner.

Considering the screaming over changes in Disney I am amazed at the reaction here.

Personally I find this a very distrubing trend. I think the DIS just turned into a kindergarden class. I have a theory on public message boards. "If you can't take the heat stay out of the fire" Apparently I am alone in this theory.

All I can say is that I have usually supported the board owner actions, but this one disturbs me. I went and read the "point" system and it is ripe for abuse. I have sent the webmaster an email expressing my concerns.

Doc, somehow, my intent gets translated when put into words.

No, I am not striving for a banning. But I would accept a banning right now for ten days (without an additional misdeed on my part) for the good word with the TF.

In otherwords, I am willing to be banned ten days now, if the Tag Fairy will agree to review my sad lack of tags. I mean banning without additional misdeed. A trade if you will. (Hopefully, this does not belong on the R/T sub!)

Perhaps, "So desperate for a tag, he choose banning. Actually that is pretty lame, but hopefully the idea is clear.

TIA,

-Tony

Whether believed or not, I never intentionaly seek banning!

OK- I left a message for the TF with your offer. The response was that a "tag" will cost you 70 points and you can have any tag you'd like. It's a special offer just for you! :)

OR ... If you really want ONLY a ten day ban, then that's how long the tag would last too but no points would be involved.

Deal ... or no Deal?

But in reality, not a whole lot changes. In the past, we mods would delete/edit posts and send PM warnings. If those warnings were ignored, further action was taken. Same now, only we have automatic documentation and the person getting the warnig or infraction has no doubt about the consequences if they choose to continue their actions.
It also, for the first time, gives mods the ability to immediately get rid of spammers and people that have re-registered after being banned rather than having to contact Webmasters to deal with them while the person continues to post.

Point and warning systems, while new to the DIS, have been used on many intenet boards, some where I have admin rights, and they are a useful tool.

I just use the "ignore a poster" feature and stay off the Rent Trade board and I should be all right. Hopefully.

It certainly sounds fair to me Chuck.

The thing that really hits home with me is this: You guys are here volunteering your time to ensure we all have this great forum to post on. When someone is attacking others, spamming, etc. it just simply puts a burden on these volunteers. It isn't fair to do that and being a former violator I feel terrible about it.

Remember without these men and women there is no Dis.

Ouch! This is a hard decision. Howie, I mean Doc, I need some more info before I choose.

70 points is not on the infraction list. It falls between a 30 day ban and permanent ban.

If I accept this deal, how long will I be banned for?

It is worth it for a 30 day ban, but not for a lifetime ban, as I hope to live another 50 or so years.

Phone it into the banker, errrr TF and let me know!

The banker says that this was a special offer - just for you - which is the reason it's not on the usual menu. If you already have any unexpired points, the 70 would be added to those and the appropriate ban for that number of points would be applied. Those 70 points would also never expire. It's your choice. I don't know how long this special offer will last, so you'd better decide quickly.

Choose Wisely! :smooth:

I know many will be DISappointed, but my use and enjoyment of the DISboards is too dear to me, so sadly, "NO DEAL!"

-Tony

The DVC whimp!

P.S. Thanks for all the extra work in getting me this offer!

I'd say 'the banker' needs to spend more time in WDW! ;)

(It's good for the blood pressure! and Enhances one's viewpoints on all aspects of life)

NOTE: for the purposes of the new point system, this is NOT an attack on "the banker", merely a recommendation of an alternative perspective :)
