New Info about Splash Mountain foot stuck incident

Small world.
A DIS reader's daughter's roommate knows about something that happened to another DIS reader's daughter.
Hope her foot is healing OK.

Not Small World....it was Splash Mountain. The Small World boats have special anti-foot sticking shields in the front.

I kinda thought there might be more to the story.

If I think back to when I was a teenager ... geesh! All the stupid stuff I did when my parents weren't around. :rolleyes1

I know that I bent the truth, sometimes a lot, when I got caught.

I remember once when my best friend and I decided to try smoking. My parents asked if I had been smoking - no, no, no it was Jennifer (my best friend at the time) she was smoking and I can't help if her smoke got on my clothes. :rotfl2:

I'm not a bad person, I wasn't a bad kid, I was just testing the boundaries, just like my kids are going to start doing one day. But my parents didn't deserve or receive any compensation for my misadventures.

Last trip to WDW we got on the train at Main Street and I lost count of how many times the CM had to make an announcement about keeping body parts in the train. She even stopped it 2 X's. Obviously somebody was playing around, teenagers or adults, but it happens.

I didn't see the previous thread, but there are also bars on both sides of the log, running along the length of the log, just under the top edge where you can hang on if you need too.(I think.......if I remember correctly!)

Some teenagers don't always do the smartest things.

I really don't know the entire story, but I do want to say that most parents don't want to believe that their darling child has done anything wrong. Instead they place blame elsewhere. I think this is just another stupid teenage mistake that her parents will end up paying for b/c Disney isn't responsible. However I do understand that the parent would be upset and what to find who or what they believe to be the "real" culprit. What can I say, its just the nature of a lot of parents. :confused3

Not really. The DIS is the most active message board on the entire web. Not just most active Disney message board. Most active board, PERIOD.

Really? Wow. I didn't know that. I knew DIS was huge, but....
How do they measure that? Number of posts, frequency of posting, number of members?
Glad I'm not alone in wanting to talk about the Mouse and his House.

I just hope Disney doesn't cave just to shut him up and give him a free trip.
If I was the op I would be very angry at my DD, not that she did something stupid-all kids do that, BUT that she lied to me!

I don't know exactly. I would assume all of those are what it's measured by.

I'm guessing, of course, but if there is some sort of bar in the general area of the front row passengers feet, but that 99.9% of folks don't even realize it is there, then it would require someone slipping and coming forward with above normal force to get their foot stuck. If she was standing then slipped down and forward on a small drop that would explain it.
This sound likely to me. Also this was the second trip around and they were more daring on the second trip.

Did you all get the impression the OP wanted a bunch of free stuff? I thought I had read he wasn't worried about the medical cost, he would have liked a ECV because his "wife" had a bad back and couldn't push a wheel chair (ok, I wasn't sure about that one, couldn't he or the two sons push?) and he felt the hospital treated them poorly. He was very upset about getting to his DD when he had no idea what was going on, how hurt she was, etc. I didn't really get the impression he wanted a lot...just to be treated better.

Teens will be teens and if she was goofing around, she's paying the price. I just hope it doesn't end up ruining the whole vacation. I also hope it didn't shut down the ride for other people....if she was goofing around she probably has a lot of guilt over that.

thanks so much for the update....that would explain WDW's attitude a little better.

If the girl did stand up in the boat she is lucky all that happened is her foot got stuck and she didn't fall out and kill herself.

I thought the story was a little weird as well! Why would she stand up in the ride?? She can't be that stupid maybe she decided to show off or something. I hope disney doesn't give them anything free either!

I thought she was showing off for the two boys. Remember the boys are the stepdad's kids so they are only now related via the parents marriage in 2005. I could see a 14 year old girl or boy doing that to impress 13 and 15 year olds of the opposite gender.

I still dont understand how her foot got stuck because she stood up, it seems more confusing to me now,
I had imagined maybe she pushed her feet to hard and the panel broke.

On our last night in the Magic Kingdom in 2001, we rode Splash Mountain one more time because we wanted one more picture with the four of us (DH, DS #1, DS #2 and me). There were three teenagers sitting in the log behind us - two girls and one boy. At the end of the ride, our older DS left to go back to the hotel, since he was soaked, tired and uncomfortable. The rest of us waited for the picture. And waited and waited and waited.

And then the CM told us the picture would not be printed because the teenager behind us stood up during the drop. :furious: I was furious.

So yes, some teenagers do stupid things on rides.

It was quite apparent that the OP was absolutely looking for something free, which is why he got flamed by alot of posters. There was just something about his story that was missing and was not convincing.

1. He was upset that Disney only offered him a free push wheelchair, because his wife could not push the daughter. C'mon, I don't need to say more about this.

2. If my daughter was hurt I would not be ranting that the hospital did not teach my daughter how to use crutches, this would be the last thing I cared about, the hospital gave me crutches that would be enough, I could teach my daughter to use the crutches if it was that much of a problem???

3. Finally, the last thing I would be doing is posting on a message board trying to find out who to call to complain, and it was obvious from his posts that he was looking to be comped and comped heavily, he even mentioned a free trip in a post, and then tried to retract it after he started to get flamed heavy.

I think he should get nothing!!

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING #1

last count it was #38, it may change by the time you click this link. But in term of both total posts and registered users Dis is far behind the top.

Ok, I didn't understand the whole wheelchair thing either.

I must have missed where he said he wanted to be comped a free trip. Ah, takes the wind out of my sails that he was just distraugt and concerned about DD.

Now about posting here? Couldn't he just be turning to his DIS family looking for reassurance and answers? He has been here quite awhile so I would guess he has many friends here.

I guess I like to give the benefit of the doubt and try to see it from all sides.
