http://rankings.big-boards.com/?p=2

last count it was #38, it may change by the time you click this link. But in term of both total posts and registered users Dis is far behind the top.

:offtopic: WEll, ok then. What can we do to MOVE IT UP????

Now back to your regularly scheduled DISing . . .

A few more threads about the foot incident might help. And a Flowerschild post is always good for 10 or 12 pages of debate.

I must have missed where he said he wanted to be comped a free trip. Ah, takes the wind out of my sails that he was just distraugt and concerned about DD.

"No, we are not looking to sue, just want something done about it. It is DD first trip here and now she cant enjoy it, and it puts a strain on all of us. I do think that disney should do something for us.....yes. Something in the means of comping out trip our offering another one. After all, if they get us here again, they make more money from us. Did we start out looking for this.....no"

I copied and pasted this from the locked thread as it will not let you quote....but that is what the step father posted.

This past summer a young boy was nearly killed on Triple Hurricane at Cypress Gardens, after a devestating fall from the car. His parents took the case to court, as Cypress Gardens said the young man (age 13) overrode the restraints and stood up on the ride. The parents swore up, down and sideways that he didn't. They were not on the ride with him at the time.

During the trial witeness after witness appeared saying they SAW the boy stand up. The case was then thrown out of court.

Parents want to believe their children. I would, if my son told me he had or hadn't done something, but I would also want proof of what happened. Teens don't always put a lot of thought into 'what could happen'. It's just a fact of being a teen. No judgement necessary, but proof is good and, unfortunately, most theme park accidents are due to 'user error'. I'm glad she just got away with a hurty foot.

Or someone asking if they should rent a stroller for their 12 year old...

Good point. Another teen puts another parent in a bad position. Hard to know what I would have thought if my 15 year old who was just at WDW on a school trip had come home with a tale of a "freak accident" that happened to him. Would I rush to his defense, or would I assume he was horsing around in some way?

(I KNOW that DH would take WDW's side. A couple of weeks ago I went to get my car out of parking garage kind of late at night and someone had backed into it at a pretty high speed. No note of course. DH's first reaction: "What weird way were you parked that made the guy hit you?")

But how does that explain how her foot got stuck?

I agree. I'm not visualizing this.

Seems to me like rides need to prevent people from even standing up? Doesn't this ride have lap bars? I haven't been on it in ages.

Not really. The DIS is the most active message board on the entire web. Not just most active Disney message board. Most active board, PERIOD.
Large, yes, but there are other boards out there, big ones too. The DIS falls in about #203, English languaged, ranked my number of members. http://rankings.big-boards.com/?sort=members&filter=all,EN&p=all As for activity, falls in at 27th, huge, yes, but not the most active... http://rankings.big-boards.com/?sort=posts&filter=all,EN&p=all Information looks current as of about yesterday.

Mine was the first daughter to be hurt on splash.

Apparently there are 2 injuries that i read now. Mine and another who lost a toenail.

My daughter did not nor did she admit to anyone to standing on this ride....period.

if you want to bash me, so be it. You were all not there. I am just reporting what happened. if you no longer want to know, i will leave these boards i have been a part of forever.

Do not jump to conclusions or make stuff up if you dont know. you can contact me directly if you want to know anything about it.

The point is that YOU were not there either, were you? Perhaps if you had been a witness then you have more say than others - however as you weren't you can only speculate like everyone else!

The person who posted about losing a toenail said it happend 3 years ago at Typhoon Lagoon. They also said it was an accident, not something Disney caused. Just wanted to clarify that in case some who did not read it think it happened recently on Splash Mountain.

I hope you don't leave the DIS. Regardless of 'how' it happened, I think everyone is glad your stepdaughter is ok, in spite of having a hurting foot. People also want to know if the rides they trust are safe. I my case, I wanted to know the facts since they did not sound like what I know of the ride vehicle.

There will always be people who rush to judge, who believe anything they hear or who just want to stir the pot. There are also people who want to form an opinion based on the facts. Sometimes we find out what the facts are, sometimes we don't. Bottom line, your stepdaughter escaped real harm and you're in Walt Disney World. That sounds like it's all good to me! :)

I am quite certain that he knows the girl a lot better than strangers on a message board. I'd hazard a guess that, like most of us parents (or step-parents), he has a bond with the girl and knows whether or not she is trustworthy and don't forget, his sons were also there so I am quite sure he could tell if all 3 of them were lying. If one of my children had an accident in school or at a friend's house or a hundred other places where I wasn't there to witness it, I would still have a much better insight into what happened (through asking questions, listening etc.) than strangers on the net.

Disneyfun1, I sure hope you don't leave. I remember you from when I first joined ages ago (I always admired your personalized tags :teeth: ).

Anyway, you have to realize that when people talk smack about WDW in any way, shape or form, you are going to have a buttload of DIS'rs questioning you. It's kinda like "I can talk about my mama, but you can't". We (and you) are diehard fans - we find it hard to believe when WDW is called into question. Maybe we are brainwashed? ;)

I hope it all works out and your daughter feels better soon. Go out and have lots more fun!!!

I did not read this entire thread, but had to add that one time when we were on Splash Mountain, some teenagers stood up in a few logs ahead of us. IMMEDIATELY, the ride stopped and CMs popped out of doors that you never notice while on the ride to get these kids to sit down! I was very impressed with the speed that the response was after the kids stood up. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I am sure that Disney will have all on video as to the cause of this injury. I hope the girl is doing well and continues to have a great trip.

Just a point, but when we were at disney last so many of the rides stopped, which we thought was because of something wrong with the ride or people with disabilities getting on, but now i wonder if its due to people doing things they shouldn't on rides. If people want to do stupid things they should do it at home. Perhaps disney should impose a penalty on these people as it affects others enjoyment of the rides.

Perhaps this will encourage some people to think of their responsibilities aswell as their rights.
