New golf cart rules, you need insurance if not using disney carts!

Just to follow up on how I did my insurance for my personal golf cart that I brought. I went online with Progressive and purchased a policy. Cost was $80 for 1 year. I was able to split the payments up in a way that I paid $40 up front and the other $40 was due a month later. This allowed me to have the policy active for the 10 days I was at the fort and gave me time to cancel upon return. When I cancelled the policy I was given back $4. Therefore I paid $36 to insure my golf cart while I was traveling to and from the fort along with while I used it at the fort. Very fair IMO.

I’m bringing this in to Fort Wilderness… I am not going to insure it, not going to tell them, and I will be on my knees driving it everywhere defiantly 😁

As many others have said , Kenny from TT went and did the work required to obtain the Insurance DISNEY now requires. Having spoken with both Kristen and Kenny, his people are not experiencing problems.
As TeamUBR and others indicated. To secure one of his carts for the last few years you needed to go off property needed to get it. If you need transportation to go for the meeting Kristin would arrange an UBER to pick you up and return you after you took the cart , on Kenny's trailer towed with his truck and returned both to the meet up location. Disney has had this policy in effect for several years now.
I do also know that in the case of Camp Margaritaville they are not accepting the solution he found. They are not permitting any outside rentals on their property. They require proof of ownership and insurance matching the name on the reservation

Wow I’ve never looked at the Disney pricing on the golf carts because we just never wanted to rent one but that is insane. Is it actually like $800 to rent a golf cart for a week?
LOL That's cheap compared to some. We go to Road America a few times a year. $540 for 3 days (4 person, $695 for a 6 person). Come in on Thursday that'll be another $180 thank you! Only way to bring your own. Buy a full season pass and pay a fee

Not quite the same as its an event but still!

Kind of related to the topic... anyone ever run into a gator or snake on the Disney courses?

Just as an FYI, we are going to try the DVC cabins for a day next week and decided to rent a cart from Disney. Price is $70, tax included.

If we were there for any length of time, we would use Kenny.

Four days is usually my threshold for switching to Kenny. The cost savings in 2 or 3 days doesn't off set the extra hassle of going off site to pickup and drop off.

I'm getting soft as I get older. It has to be 7 days to switch to Kenny's. I'm on vacay. Just love the convenience of the easy pickup and drop-off.

2023 we did just that, we where there 6 days and I said meh, ill get the cart from Disney. This trip I have the option of bringing a friends cart that I helped work on. Next summer they will be there with that cart and I guess I should decide if I go the Disney route or call Kenny.

How will proof of insurance work for a borrowed cart? Will you get it on your policy or will your friend have to get it on his? And if it's in your friend's name, will Disney accept that or will they want something showing that you are 'the insured'?
