Here's a photo I took of the area where weddings take place that I took in during our February '06 stay. There's glare from the window, but it gives you the general idea. The elevated area is in the middle of the photo, shaded by trees:

I know it's probably been covered on this thread more than once, but if someone could just give me a quick yes or no (there are so many posts to wade through), I'd appreciate it. Is there any wifi access available at the Dolphin resort? We leave Friday. I'm willing to pay for it. Just wanted to know. Thanks.

I saw a VERY small wedding there last year, Swan. They held it in one of the courtyards off the lobby. I watched quite a bit of it, it was very nice.

:lovestruc Here are a couple pictures.......

Dan - when I saw the question about weddings the first thing I remembered was a picture you posted from (I think Discon) of a not very happy looking bride outside the Dolphin!!! I don't think she was unhappy about her wedding location though.
LOL, Gail, what a great memory. I recall that. I was with Ray Sharpton and Pandy Paws if I recall (sure do miss them :() and I was taking pictures of the walkway between the S and D. The bride was walking there and she looked like to drill a hole through me. :confused3 :scared1: :tiptoe:

Yes, all rooms have Internet, I think the daily charge is $9.95.

Thanks, Dan, just what I was looking for. Appreciate it

Teacher discount for May! Yay! Thanks to all of you for your help in deciding on a location for the best beds, food and pool locations. But, we stay on the Boardwalk for the views. So, Swan or Dolphin for best Epcot views?

Another question...

Tell me about the junior suites at the Dolphin. Are there any available in the smoking area of the hotel? What is the rate for a junior suite? Does the AAA discount apply? They aren't listed on the booking tool online, so I assume I have to call to book one?

You might want to consider having the SPG program "matching" your husbands Platinum Marriott. The top level SPG is also Platinum and with that you would get an upgraded room (we have always gotten a jr. suite) and instead of club level you get coupons to use at the lobby bar downstairs for a pastry, piece of fruit and a beverage. I cannot remember what the "Gold" card gets you but I believe it is an upgraded view.

:)

MomPoppins, thanks so much for this advice. Do you know how we would go about getting the "matching" SPG platinum level?

If I could slip in a very boring question . . .

Do the dryers in the Dolphin laundry room run for the typical "Disney 20"? Or do they run longer, actually drying the clothes?

I'm trying to determine what kind of shorts to buy for my kids for the summer - if the dryers only run 20 minutes, I'll opt for basketball shorts rather than cargo shorts.

See how Disney impacts our lives?

Thank you for the wedding info - some beautiful pictures!

The story about the bride wanting to "drill a hole through you" is hysterical!!

Thanks again!

I've never used the laundry room at the Dolphin, maybe someone else can help out with your question.

We are doing a surprise trip for my three boys....we leave on Friday.

We will be staying in a regular room since DH is there for a conference so I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to watch the fireworks if you don't have a room with a view?

Also, does anyone know if the pool has kids life jackets?

A good place to stand on the bridge just after the Swan leading to the Boardwalk. You can see the higher fireworks. Also, you could walk over to the Boardwalk and past the ESPN Club toward the bridge leading to the International Gateway.

I believe there are life jackets at the pool hut where you can pick up towels and other pool toys.

We are leaving in less than 2 weeks :cool1: and I just read in a Fodor's from the library that some Swan rooms overlook the Atlantic Dance Hall. We're early to bed, early to hit the parks people so am wondering how the noise level is on that side of the hotel?

TIA

Melissa, packing already!!

When sitting out on a balcony you can hear the music from the Atlantic Dance Hall, but it's very faint. Once you're inside your room, you can't hear a thing, as my good friend Dan Murphy has just posted.

The rooms that overlook this area will also afford you a view of the fireworks from Illuminations!

Our room two weeks ago (room 530) faced that direction, here's what it looked like during the day, and at night as well:

Have to agree with what BLondie and Dan have said - unless you are distracted by the slightest noises, you'll not hear the music at all.
Blondie, we had a simliar view from the Swan last November. Our countdown to the Dolphin is less than 1 week now, and we always eagerly look forward to going back. Caroline

If I recall, I think it was 30 minutes.

Hi! I returned from the Swan last week.

Dolphin Laundry Details:

$2.00 in tokens per wash, $2.00 in tokens for a dry.
If you open the dryer to check items it will restart without adding more tokens. The clothes (including shorts t-shirts and socks) were all dry before the cycle stopped. The cycle takes 20-30 minutes. Feel free to send a pm if you need more info.

The laundry room is spacious and very clean. There are about 10 washers and 10 dryers. It is located near Pikabu. (formerly Tubbis, I love that place. The staff is so nice and the food is good too) The hotel game room is next door to the laundry room.

The laundry room had a couple video games and a table and chairs so you can sit, eat, read etc.

Thanks, Souper!

And I just want to say this about this thread - I've really seen a lot of negative threads on ALL the boards here at the DIS - "What's the WORST, and HOW BAD IS bla-bla-bla", and just folks being mean to one another.

This thread is ALWAYS full of such happy people! I look forward to "stopping in" whenever I'm on the DIS.

Thanks to all!
