I got the post card from southwest! The code is: RRET8W4CJF for 15% off. Book (on line) between 6/19-6/29 for travel before 10/24. Happy to share! Hope it helps someone!

DF, glad your DD is better and ready for your trip! Happy planning!

Hello!!! I hope someone can help me...we are leaving in a few days for our Dolphin vacation. We are being picked up at the airport by Tiffany Town Car and we have requested a grocery stop. We have a junior suite reserved on club level, but we are uncertain about what is available in the club lounge. Can you get cans of soda all day/night long? water bottles? chips or pretzels? We are traveling with two teenage boys and want to be sure we don't under or over buy during our Tiffany grocery stop!;) Any advice? Thanks!:D

I missed you guys!
After 3+ days of not being able to access the DIS due to the tech problems my dh actually woke me up this morning handing me my laptop in bed (we have wireless internet) with the resort board page up. I was so happy! I think I actually had withdrawls over the past few days!!

hookedup ~ know the feeling! ;) I am still experiencing intermittent problems.

Pluto People ~ The CL is not open all day - only mornings and late afternoons (5:00). You can ask for cokes, water, etc. but I assume that ask should be in moderation. So... plan your grocery stop with that in mind. We used Tiffany last summer and they were terrific - punctual, courteous and helpful. We have reserved them again for our trip in late July. Please let me know how you find their service.

DF ~ Great news about DD.

Hello to all of you! I cannot get my pics to post so will have DH to try it later. Thanks for all of your prayers and good wishes! Baby Kirk "Junior" is just PERFECT! Praise the Lord, Thanks again to all of you. Will post more later... Hugs, Robin

ozzie--I see that Muffy has taken care of you :) I didn't post the code because I wasn't sure if it is individualized or general. I see now that it is a general code...I got a cardboard postcard in the US mail. what a novelty, LOL....

of course, I will keep checking those fares to see if I can do any better betwen now and then. I think that my $640 RT for 5 of us is going to be about as good as it gets, though. my budget was $600, give or take a few, so I am quite pleased.

we are very lucky--within 3 hours we have these airports--Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Nashville. Nashville and Indy usually have the best fares, but once we got $59 RT on Southwest out of Louisville :) I know that 3 hours is a bit far to go for an airport, but we have family very close to Cincinnati, so we combine the trip.

Las Vegas, my brother loves Las Vegas.....6 young men on the town, what a trip!

DF - PS - remember - I asked to be adopted months ago I think! I should still be #1!!!

1953 Studebaker Commander - very red! My DH has spent the last 7 (?) years restoring it (better than original). It has a Camaro LT1 motor in it and is gorgeous!

The '63 Avanti is still my mom's - its red too. (originally cream) - it won't be ours for a few years yet. The '56 Golden Hawk we sold several years back for lack of $ at the time to Chet Krause, former owner of Old Cars magazines/Krause publications in Iola WI. He takes good care of the precious baby and someday we hope to buy it back.

Ozzie- Maid-Rites in eastern Iowa too - I think even a moderately sleezy one with good food down in La Crosse WI. My mom eats there. We hit Steak N Shake the night of the storm - only food for several miles w/o going back into StL I guess. Took about 1 1/2 hours total - BUSY AS ALL GET UP!!!

the du website is now listing swan rooms starting at $124 but when i check for further info it still comes up at $154--anyone know anything about this?

Hi Haven't been able to log on in days, its been driving me crazy i have tried several times a day and no luck untill now!!!

Any news on baby kirk lately?
Mouseteacher are you all done with school, I still have a few more days but with this weather who cares anyways.

Looking for some super-last minute advice on possible switch to Swan. Not much input on previous thread:
S/D Switch Jitters

Concern about affect of construction currently at Dolphin. Any suggestions or thoughts. Thanks.

Thank you both for southwest info. Just booked our airfare saved about $400.00. Appreciated the information.

Sue

 disnurse ~ I couldn't get on for about 2 days last week and I swear I was in a grieving mode thinking that the DIS died!

The students were out last Friday and I finished up my admin work today. I try to take the month of July off. I do have other professional responsibilties that will keep me busy through next week. Friday is a day off for me - spending my afternoon at the beauty salon (getting a color and cut takes a couple of hours)

Once July hits the calendar, I will start in earnest planning our trip. First in order will be a trip to the Disney store to get our PH tickets. I just LOVE savoring all my "getting ready for Disney trips" errands. :)

MomPoppins :) :bounce: for Kirk Jr and your family

My Stingray is VERY RED too!

My favorite car color (next to black). :)

(YES...you are #1 on the ADOPTION LIST!)...LOL! :p

MOM POPPINS...SO HAPPY to read all is PERFECT! Glad to have you back home and on the thread with all of us. I know you'll be busy, so take it easy. (& kiss the baby for me!).

Mouseteacher I too...savor the GETTING READY for DISNEY errands! I did a bunch of these yesterday, and will do more today. I have to let you know something which happened yesterday, and brightened my summer (year!). DD received a letter from our Parish. She was awarded a $500 scholarship towards her current tuition at her Catholic H.S.! She was ELATED..to say the least. ;)

Over the past two years, she also received scholarships. Yet, these were always awarded earlier (Spring). Since we heard nothing this year, we thought perhaps these were eliminated due to the current economic situation, etc. We have NEVER expected these/anything, so they have always been such wonderful surprises! I was preparing to pay her tuition in full (as we always do...so much easier for ALL, especially the school), prior to leaving for vacation. When the letter arrived, we were in shock. Christ is great, and truly knows how to "surprise" with a last-minute blessing! ^_^ Our priest signed the letter, and placed a smilie face near his signature.

Just last week I was thanking him for signing the catholic verification form and actually bringing it into the High School for us (as this is our responsibility...not his). He hugged me, and told me it was his "pleasure" to do this for us. He expressed admiration for our continued "sacrifice and commitment" to religious and academic education for our DD. Truly made my heart sing! It's so nice to be appreciated. Now this. I am truly overwhelmed. ;) I thought this would make you smile. :)

Thanks so much for letting me know! It's great to see a fellow librarian. I had booked my ressies online under the govt rate and then panicked and canceled them But I signed up to be a Starwood member so it won't be a big deal to re-reserve. I do have a concern though...I found something that said you had to be "on government business' to get the discount? But you've used it without a problem right?

Question: Do any of you have the Starwood credit card? I have a full year before my trip so I know using it would get me some points. Is it worth it? I have the disney credit card as well. If I pay for my ressies with it at the Swan do I still get the 6 months no interest?

I'm going to see a travel agent tomorrow (this is the first trip I've planned ever) But I'm going well-informed, so if I'm not happy, I can walk away knowing I can handle it myself, thanks to all of you!!!

Sorry for all the ?s but I'm a newbie to all of this!

DF ~ Hooray for DD! You did make me :) and :bounce: for joy. We, the pastor and I, always take time at parent gatherings to thank our parents for the sacrifice they make to send their children to a Catholic school. They give so much of their time, talent and treaure. Our school would not be the top notch school ii is without the involvement of so many of our parents. Thank you for sharing your DD success and THANK YOU for your confidence in Catholic education (as I have said before - it is my passion).

Oh, BTW... I LOVE the red Sting Ray. My DBro had a black one a few year's ago. What fun it was to go for a drive in it.

harleyquinn ~ Do use your Starwood Amex cc and build up points. I got mine just before our trip last August. In a year's time I built up enough points (of course using the card wisely) to do Starwood's cash and points offer this summer at the Swan. It was a deal I couldn't pass up and was instrumental in our going this summer. Otherwise, we would have waited until next year. You can also use points to upgrade to CL or for other promotions offered.

Thanks mouseteacher! I was just weary of getting another credit card, but I'll just use it for gas and stuff and pay it off every month.

I'm sure I'll be staying at the S/D for many vacations to come with me being a librarian and DF being a teacher so the card will be valuable I think.

:D Hi! I lurk here often for helpful info. about the Swan/Dolphin, as I hope to stay there for my 30th birthday next year! DH and I will be traveling to WDW and WL this summer, but I have a question about being a "non" Dolphin/Swan resort guest and dining at Shula's. I'd like to dine there the evening we are at Epcot and was wondering if DH and I would be able to hop on a Friendship boat at the International Gateway and ride over to the Dolphin? Or is the boat only for transportation of Dolphin/Swan guests? If we couldn't take the boat, could we walk it?

Thanks for any input. I wasn't quite sure what board this belonged on! I look forward to our future stay at the Swan next year (using the teacher rate, as we're both teachers!)

:p

Harley ~ I was like you and did not want another cc but I was following advice on these Boards and cancelled another credit card I had and replaced it with the Starwood one. I am now a bonafide S/D fan. I accidently discovered the teacher rate last summer and that was the beginning of this S/D love affair. We received a complimentary upgrade to Club level - 12th floor - last summer. How magical was that? :) Prior to this I was a Disney resort only snob! Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE Disney resorts especially the CR, but the deals and rates at S/D as well as location can't be beat. And then add in those Starwood points... :bounce: !

Pluto14~
You can take the Friendship launches from the Intenational Gateway to the Dolphin or walk if you choose. We ate at Shula's last summer - very nice particularly if you are a steak lover.

I was going to use the Disney card to save up stuff, but the Starwood card just makes more sense when I know I'll be staying there a lot. Plus with the DC you can only get $750 a year (not that I would spend $75,000 in a year).

Pluto--I'm sure you can dine at Shula's one of the regular's will answer you're ?s!
