So, dd just texted me to say, and I quote..'Mom, they changed the DME buses. They have flat screen tv's, seatbelts and different seats and they're nicer!!' She says they have the classic DME logo on them...so, obviously they are bringing in new buses???

And...they had to put on their seatbelts!!!! But, dd said the new bus was very snazzy!!!!

I was on one of the new buses for my trip from the airport to WDW in May. They did have seat beats, but we were not told we had to put our seat bealts on. I did put my seat belt on as I am just use to using them. The seats were closer to each other though, I was not able to fit my duffle bag on the floor in front of my feet.
On the older buses I would slip under the seat infront of me.

are the new buses "tighter" on leg space, itd be an issue for us with a person that will need more leg room/medical issue, I am wondering If I should rent a car after all :confused3:eek:?
they will not really be doing parks so the resort transport really was not an issue...or so I thought...
Any help appreciated...

I'll have to ask dd...she is 5'11'', and didn't mention anything about her legs not fitting. I used to put my largish totebag at my feet as well...it may be staying on my lap in the future.

Well I am going to assume that whoever is on the DME came from an airplane and the seating couldn't be any worse than what is on the typical economy airplane seat. Just ASSuming that if they made it on the plane the will somehow survive the 30 minute bus ride.

:rotfl:
actually you assumed wrong, business class has greater room all around...;)
As far as DME, thinking private transport may be best for the situation after all:thumbsup2 just another excuse to splurge I suppose...
thank you for your thoughts anyway.....

We had one of the new buses on our trip back to the airport in May - it had just been put into service that morning.
I've got some pictures, but didn't post yet.

The TV screens were larger, each seat had combination lap/shoulder belts and above each seat there was an individual light and air conditioning outlet - just like on the plane.
I didn't notice any difference in the seat distance.

This doesn't apply to me since my kids are past that stage, but what about infants and small children? If they are putting seat belts on, does that mean we will now start to see car seat usage? Will car seats be required? Just curious as there are constant car seat questions on here.

That thought occurred to me as well. It seems that some drivers are telling people to buckle up, while others aren't. Maybe it's a choice thing. But still...my answer is always going to be...'what happens when you get to WDW proper and use the resort to park buses?? no seat belts there for car seats'..just so that people realize that.

The bus we took on 6/6 was a new one, with seatbelts, and there were no carseats allowed. Saw a very vocal altercation regarding this between the driver and a mom about this, but the mom and baby went on the bus, the carseat went under the bus.

Whew! We leave tomorrow and I was afraid for a minute I was going to have to change my plans and drag that thing with me again. Now that ds is big enough, I rented a CARES harness for the plane. I’m looking forward to leaving the car seat at home.
