NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

Just noting that isn't a very good deal - you can get $500 worth of gift cards (physical or digital) at Target every day for $475 with a Target RedCard (which is free and isn't very difficult to get).

Not everyone wants another merchant credit card. I rarely shop at target, except for special promos on household stock ups. Fee free or not, I don’t want a target red card & the extra .5% off Disney gift cards doesn’t entice me.

Completely understand. I’ll just note for anyone who might not know that, even if you don’t want another credit card, Target also offers a debit card that can get 5% off. Personally, Target is not my go to for DGCs, but I do think it is incredibly useful to have in a pinch - e.g., at DW and my DGC balance has been depleted to zero. Can basically instantly reload with a digital DGC while in line at DW.

I looked at my Target account to see exactly what my savings have been.

In the last 12 months I have saved:
  • $184.12 in 5% Circle Card savings. I would say 95% of my Red Card purchases have been Disney and AT&T gift cards.
  • $243.96 in Target Circle Rewards, most of them earned by purchasing gift cards.
I use the rewards to buy other stuff I need, like the promos and household stock-ups. For me, it's totally worth having a silly merchant card in my wallet.

this is what we have! It is linked to our debit card and we still get the 5% off.m

I agree, I don't like having a lot of merchant cards. But the Target "red card" just links directly to my checking account - and since I order Disney e-cards online I just have to put the red card/debit card # in and am done.

No carrying around another card or dealing with another bank statement. Just in case you weren't aware that it can work that way.

I didn’t call it a silly card. I’m glad it works for you. I just noted not everyone wants a merchant credit card. For my BJs $25 membership, I’ve saved over $690 so far this year. BJs doesn’t work for everyone, but it does for me.

I never said you called it a silly card. I called it a silly card. I think all merchant cards are silly. There is a time and place for them in your wallet when building your credit but that time has passed for me except for two of them that offer ongoing additional savings.

I also have an online BJs membership but I guess I don't hit the real sales at the right time to save as much as you have. Buying a $500 DGC with my Visa from BJs would save me $4.60 over Target straight up (5.92% v/s 5%), but I nearly always combine DGC purchases with Target Circle Rewards. The last $500 DCG I purchased cost me $475, but I got another $50 back in rewards so my final cost was $425, or a 15% savings v/s a 5.92% savings.

FWIW, I dragged my feet for years over getting the Target Red Card because I too didn't want a merchant card in my wallet. I still regret not having it back when we could "print money" during the Target Card Black Friday feeding frenzy of years gone by.

I have written in the past about buying iphones on sale and then trading them in to apple to get big discounts on Apple gift cards. Since the iphone 17 Pro had its price raised by $100 over the previous versions of the Pro, I was $100 short so I bought another iphone 13 from Metro by T-Mobile. You pay $50 for the phone and $55 for one month of service. You also have to port in a phone number which I purchased from infimobile for $5.16. The total cost after credit card cash back was $107.79 and I then took the phone to the apple store and traded it in for a $185 gift card, for a 41.7% savings on the Apple gift card. (Not as good as back in February when Metro had the iphone 13 for $78.40 total and I traded it in to the Apple store for a $235 apple gift card and a savings of 66%, but 41.7% is still decent.)

Overall, in the past year by buying phones on sale and trading them in to Apple, I paid a total of $521.20 for $1099 of Apple gift cards, for an average savings of 52.6%!

Heads up. The Sams November ad is posted on another site. $200 Disney gift card for $180 confirmed for Friday, Nov 7.
Ooh, thanks. I just bought some for my upcoming trip, so hopefully I can get more! I have noticed they seem to be faster about removing the limits this summer, but I buy 1 or 3 at a time just in case, so that may help.

Thank you!

I was planning on buying a $200 Disney gift card today online from Sam's. Should I hold off until November 7?
I would hold off. If they reuse the same SKU, you may be locked out of the sale/items for like 30 days. That's been my experience and what SC support told me before it resets.

You can try checking your local store, as they might have the physical $200 for $190 gift cards. Mine does and I've bought a couple there in combination with credit card cash backs.
