What Makes Trader Sam's So Appealing?

We would LOVE if they would seat us at the bar... they always put us at the high tops and we dislike it. The door is constantly opening up letting in the bright sunlight and we tend to get really slow to nonexistent service. Bar is always on it, quick, chatty, and we are happy to have our eyes stay accustomed to one light level.

We make sure to go every trip, ideally twice, since they opened in 2011. We tend to split the burger and prices are in line with other cocktails and other tiki bars. They aren't cheap, but they're actually in line with the ones at my local watering hole in Portland.

My most recent visit was with bar seating and the service was not great. I prefer the table in the far left corner as you walk in the door.

I’m not knocking TS, just reporting on my recent experiences. Personally, I enjoy the bar at Carthay Circle Lounge or Hearthstone Lounge for striking up casual conversation. I’m glad you enjoy TS, it’s unique.

It's a must do for us on every trip. We have sat inside every time except once - and if I can't sit inside there's no point (to me). The food is ok, it's the theming that keeps me coming back.

A lot of people like it at night, but I actually like going for lunch. It's so dark inside that you forget what time it is and then you are shocked at how bright it is when you step outside

I don't really drink but I love anything tiki (or tiki adjacent). Only time I'll drink alcohol is at a tiki bar - so once a year if that often!

What's the best way to get a reservation for this - be right ion it at midnight? I have tried before but since my daughters were underage, it was a lacklustre effort. But this year they are 21, so I did really want to try this!

From what I've heard and read, they're not currently taking reservations. I'm not sure how walk-ups are going to work when everyone is a walk-up. Usually, it's not hard to get a walk up near the end of the night but not sure whether that will still be true with the new non-reservation system.

There hasn't been any announcement that they're no longer taking reservations and it's still showing on the Disneyland Dining site that they take reservations, but they definitely don't seem to be taking them. I'm on two different dining notification apps and not getting any notifications that reservations have dropped or are available.
