NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

Did anyone get a Switch 2?

DS & his friends pulled an all-nighter, they went to GameStop at 12:30am and waited outside until the store opened at 12 noon  . They were all set up with lawn chairs, blankets and plenty of food. DS said he had a lot of fun and was happy they did this together. Memories!
I decided to buy mine tariff free in Japan 🤣

There’s not going to enough there & the cheaper version is language locked to Japanese (& the Japanese eshop & Japanese Nintendo accounts). Nintendo Japan already apologized that there will not be enough. The multi-language version is not any cheaper than just buying one in the US.

Should clarify:

My family is Japanese, I speak Japanese, it’s about $350 in Japan. I don’t mind being locked out of the eshop because I never buy digital anyway, the games are more than the physical copies.

Meijer

  • $10 off $150 or more in Mastercard Gift Cards
    • You need to click the coupon to load to your mPerks account (I put "Gift" in the coupon search box)
    • Valid 4/27/25 through 5/3/25.
    • Offer IS valid at Meijer Express (Gas Station use if you have a better earnings CC for Gas) However YMMV if they are carried at the gas station.
Credit Cards & More

  • Meijer also accepts Apple Pay & Google Pay
  • Discover earn 5% on Groceries in Q2 2025
  • Points/Rewards cannot be used to buy gift cards.
For anyone chasing points in the Citi Thank You realm, Meijer counts as grocery. A $150 card is $146.95, then 11 times points, the essential price works out to $130.76 for a $150 card. The purchase of the gift cards noted in the prior post also works out at $50 card=5000 points($5 off at Meijer), then 11x Thank you points=550($5.50) making the cost $39.50. While you can't cash out Citi points at a penny, you can cash them out on gift cards at a penny a point or book travel. Sometimes they have bonus offers including point discounts on gift cards or increased transfer offers to travel partners. I routinely get rental cars for a week on the citi portal for $165 in Orlando, or 16,500 points.

When you say you can't cash out Citi thank you points at 1 penny, are you talking about a specific card? Because on my Citi Double Cash, I can cash out points at 1 penny each.

So I rent my points sometimes through dvcrentalstore.com and with a recent rental, they sent me an email with directions on booking the dining plan for a renter, along with 2 Disney Gift Cards to cover the cost of the dining plan. I don't know if the DGCs belonged to the rental company or if they belonged to the renter, but that was how the transaction took place.
I have done that also. I think that is how they always do it. I think they charge the renter, and then send gift cards to you from the rental company, so that you don't have the renters credit card number.

Maybe it's a small revenue stream for the rental company, too, if they get the GCs at a discount

Gonna be honest, I barely even touch my Switch 1. So even without the pricing issues I'd be passing. Heck I still don't even have a PS5.

I am honestly more of a PC gamer nowadays anyway, right now I am heavily occupied with Civ 7 and PlanCo 2 (working on building Typhoon Lagoon in the latter actually!).

My Amex card has an offer for 20% back as a statement credit for purchases at Giant (max $15). The offer says "for grocery purchases" but the details list "online giftcard purchases" in the exclusions. Anyone know if in-store GC purchases will count?

It did count the last time Amex had this deal at Giant, as I bought gift cards and it did trigger the offer.

Sam's Club has a reduced membership offer thru AARP. It's $20 for anyone over 50. You have to verify ID thru ID Me using a government issued document.

There's also a discount for active, retired military, civilian military employees and spouses. Scroll down to see that discount but it's only $5 off the $50 membership fee.

By the way, here is a link to my post from the old forum with pictures of gift cards sold at Giant. From the first picture, you can see they sell Disney.

I can get a Sam's basic membership for 20 and a new BJs membership for 25+10 bonus cash or 50+20 for the plus.

Are these two the best I'm going to do on both? BJs I can wait on as my card expires tomorrow but Sam's I'm itching for May 2nd.

edit: I referred my wife (who also added me as a second member) for $15 and hopefully I get the $10 referral reward tomorrow the last day before the membership expires. Now I need that Sam's!
