New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

So, tomorrow, it’s the d23expo.com/reservations address that we will have to navigate to in order to make the reservations themselves? Will the static page with directions that’s there now fall away to reveal the reservation client or is this just an instructional site and there’s a different site to navigate to?? I believe it’s probably the former.

Also, is there a specific process for queueing up to the site? Do you have to get on earlier and wait in a virtual online queue or is it just going to update at 12 PM PST and you’ll have to refresh at that time for the client to appear? Anybody got that info??

Per the Top 10 tips: Advance Online Reservations will be available beginning Friday, August 16, at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET. You can access the reservation site at D23Expo.com/Reservations. If you access the reservation site prior to 12 p.m. PST, you may need to manually refresh the page at 12 p.m. PT to log in.

To me that indicates no waiting room/queue and the site will simply update at noon.

Thanks for the clarifications about the panel reservation. I'm going to D23 with a friend of mine and I didn't know if the both of us needed to have our names for a booking or not. Seems like I can just try and book a panel for the two of us with just my account and he can book another panel with his account and guest. Good luck tomorrow everyone!

Does anyone have the talent central list? I just realized you can make reservations for that but I don't see where there is a list.

We’d be interested in meeting and taking photos with the stars of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — it says that it will take place at Walt Disney Television... where exactly is this? Is this a booth... not a Talent Central location??

In the app - Show Floor, Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney Television, scroll down below the list of happenings to the Locate button. CLick that & it will open up the show floor map with an icon over where this booth is located,

I guess this was the long way to get there...there is also a Locate button for that Photo op on the listing itself in the app.

I really wanted the Shield meet and greet. Then realized it is 50 minutes long, so they can accommodate maybe 25 people, if each takes only 2 minutes? And they supposedly have a standby line as well. So let's say 20 people. Good luck, it looks like the hardest one to score.

So confused and over thinking all of this. Does anyone know what the Bill Rogers "records your voicemail message" is....I mean is it under talent ? Confused because it's at Center Stage or does that mean a stage pass? Thanks

In years past he has done this just kicking around that area, yes. No need for a TalentPass as it isn’t at Talent Central, it’s a thing you happen upon (come early for). He guarantees X many guests (60... I think??) to start with and then if there’s time, he’ll record for more people on a case-by-case basis.

Wonder how this is going to work. I’m only going Sunday, and as much as I want to get into the stores, the Parks panel is my priority. So I’m wondering if it’ll be easy to select multiple reservations in one go around, or if you’ll have to do them individually. Or if you can even do them individually, like if you get one reservation, click confirm, are you going to be allowed to go back into and reserve more under your badge number?

With just over 12 hours to go, it seems like a lot of stuff is still missing informationally. Maybe these things will be answered by them in the morning.

But this being my first D23, I cant envision this being any more stressful or time consuming as the previous system. You had to line up for panels and stores 12-20 hours early to just have a chance to possibly experience them. If I got to Hall E at 3AM, waited for 7 hours and missed a big panel, I wouldnt be too happy with myself for wasting my time

From the D23 Youtube video "5 Online Reservation Tips for D23 Expo" there's a screenshot of the reservation system. So it has all the shopping, talent, and panels all laid out by category. While it's my first expo and first year for everyone using this reservation system, I think the strategy is to select your top picks first go from there until you're satisfied (shopping, talent, panel etc..). Then click the "I'm done" to finalize everything you selected in one go. Supposedly once you add something to your badge, it's reserved.

Also, you must make all of your choices in one reservation session. From the reservation FAQs -

ill I need to make all of my online reservation choices in one session, or can I go back in multiple times to complete my choices?
Please make reservations for all event days in one session. Once you click “Confirm Reservations,” you will not be able to add additional reservations, change reservations, or cancel your reservations.

I'm not sure how they do it, but D23 manages to make each Expo more stressful and time consuming than the last one! For many of us, this isn't our first rodeo, but it seems to feel like it each go 'round... lol! Not getting much/any sleep tonight -- too nervous about what registration will bring.

Good luck, everyone, with the reservation process,

Me, I’m still working through what I might want to try for once I am able to get to the reservations page. My dilemma - the requirement to be in line at least 30 min ahead of the panel start, or an hour for Hall D23. Sometimes I’m cutting it a little closer than that between panels.

Hi - late bloomer here. We are going Friday and I’m activating badges now (gave them a chance to actually deliver them but no such luck). Is it more beneficial to register both badges under my email or each one separate? If separate, does that mean we could attempt to snag two panels each? Thanks!

Same issue here. Some of our choices are only 30 minutes apart and separated by quite a distance, e.g. Hall D23 to the third floor. It could easily take a half hour just to get from one end of the building on the lowest level to the other end of the building on the top level. One or two of our choices end/start at the same time. We'll just have to run for it and sneak in the back. The shopping passes are giving me a headache. I don't know when to book them because I have no idea how accurate the times will be, how efficient/inefficient the lines will be, and how much shopping I"ll do once inside. Not willing to miss out on a panel because the shopping took longer than expected. Aaaargh...

Exactly! On one day I’m looking at maybe Arena to Hall D23 then back to Arena in back to back to back sessions...sigh,

And agree re the shopping, i will likely only try for one on one day when I can fit a 90 minute window for it to allow for possible delays.
