New Contemp Rooms Look Great!

Very sharp! My next trip is a couple of years away, but I think I know where I need to stay next time.:)

As we almost always stay at the CR, I like the new updated colors and style, I personally never found the old colors or style to be "too much" as others have put it, to me the 2 nights we stayed at All Star Movies a few months ago, those rooms were much brighter than the CR. The CR is my favorite , but after looking at the new bathroom pictures, what happened to the very large counterspace? That was one of the great pluses to the CR, plenty of countertop space to spread your bathroom stuff out on, especially for a family of 4! Oh well, I guess it was one small thing to give up for the new look. I'm sure it's all gorgeous in person!

Love the new look-- definitely more futuristic than the multi-color decor (and easier on the eyes)! The white/burgundy color scheme is great, and I love the wall-mounted flat screen TV.

I also noticed the lack of counter space near the sinks, though. Hopefully they made up for it with additional counter space somewhere else. I'm planning a trip for mid-Sept. 2006, and I'll be staying in the Tower. I'm hoping the renovations will be done in that section by then-- I can't wait!

Have to say it, I don't like the rooms at all....well, it's a beautiful room for a contemporary hotel...but it doesn't say "Disney" at all to me. My kids would be entirely disappointed in it (they're all under 10) and I have to admit I don't find it "fun" at all...

Rumor has it that Disney is focused on catering towards the business/convention sector rather than the family sector with the updated Contemporary Resort rooms.

Another rumor is that the North Garden Wing will be raised and a new DVC will be built in its location.

I don't care who they are catering too--I'd be more than happy to stay there. I like "posh" looking hotel rooms. My kids like "any" hotel room and would be pleased as punch!

So will ALL rooms at the contemporary be like this? If so by when? I would LOVE to stay here if I could get a room like this next June.

I love the new look. We enjoyed the huge room at Contemporary on our last visit, but I did miss the luxury of the Swan/Dolphin. Now the Contemporary rooms have the nice white bed spreads and from the pictures are even nicer than the S/D. It looks like there's some counter space between the closets. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there seems to be some sort of vanity or dresser by the wall on the other side of the bed. I hear they are doing the North Wing after they are done with the South Wing. I hope the prices don't go up too much before our next trip. We love staying in the North Wing and walking over to MK in just a few minutes.

I think the rooms look great. But I do think they could have added some mickey stuff to make it look like you are still in Disney World and NOT Ny city.

I love the "clean", contemporary look. Just needs a Mickey outlined in black or something somewhere in the room. Something, anything Disney.

but I do agree it is an improvement to the old look.

Good point, I agree.

So can anyone answer my question of when these rooms will all be done? We are going in June next year and I'd love to stay in one. Is it suites only or ALL rooms?

I don't know the answer, timandlesley....but I would think by next June, they would be done. Or at least the vast majority would be done, since that is more than a year away.

Here's hoping for ya'!! :wizard:

I agree-- a Mickey outlined in black would give it that Disney touch. Maybe they could add a Mickey-shaped mirror someplace, or add a decorative border on the walls.

I also believe that the updated look to the Contemporary is very nice. Maybe on our next trip we will consider staying there.

I read that the rehab will be complete by Fall 2006, they're supposed to be done with the South Wing by Oct 31st of this year.

I'm sure they'll have hidden Mickeys and stuff and all you have to do is look out the window to know you're in Disney. I think it's nice that they're making it not so in your face with the theme, helps Disney to really offer something for everyone.

I think the new design is great! Very sleek.

I just hope we can get a refurbished room when we stay in the Tower in Jan!
