I don't know if any of you have checked out some of the other recent threads about the unexpected renovations going on at WL. What's going on?

When we were there 8/13-8/20 they were doing work on the front of the building by the entrance. THere was some scaffolding and workers. Not sure what they were doing. I didnt notice them anywhere else.

Let me ask a question though - I noticed that there aren't any of those plastic white chairs on the balcony (like they have at the Contemporary) - what kind of chairs are out there? (Are they the plastic ones, but just don't happen to be white?)

I didn't realize that there were separate folders for family shots, and Wilderness Lodge shots. What's the email address to send you pictures of family??

Yeah I made two seperate folders so we can put members pictures in one and pictures of the lodge and balcony views in another. Trying to be organized.

That goes for everyone! No excuses. We should have lots more pics considering all the people that read this thread and are WL vets. I even scanned and posted Kimmar's and AspiringCindy's for them since they couldn't do it.

Hey everyone - it's great to finally put faces to the names I have come to depend on every day as I get closer to our WL trip.

FRED and all - have some questions about concierge. After reading all the posts on this board, I mentioned to DH that we may want to investigate concierge, in case we can get it at check-in. Can you explain concierge to me - would I be able to get concierge with my standard room rate? What would it cost for an upgrade to concierge if I were to call now? vs at check-in? We just want to plan for the possibility that it is available for a reasonable rate.

We have 2 boys 6 and 7 - and I think it would be great to be able to get breakfast right there.

Concierge would run you a bit more than standard! Usually you would have to pay the difference if you were to reserve it now!
Last year, we reserved standard and was upgraded at arrival to Courtyard view for free. That is a double jump. We were then offered concierge at $35/a night. Personally, that is what I would do. Wait it out and at time of check-in, try to upgrade. You are going during a slower time of year, so you have a better chance of upgrading.

I'm not sure what I laughed harder at...your instructions to FC about how to ward off bad weather or your (obvious) jealousy over Kimmar and I 's, what I call "Put a smile on your face and a spring in your step" pics. At any rate if it really is too big can you tell me how to shrink it down a bit. I really do feel like th etime is flying now that we are so close...I have so much to do befor ewe go. The sad part is I know the time will fly while we are there as well.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!! Everyone please wish us that are going soon a little PD that Fabian will go away!!!

I followed Fred’s instructions and Fabian went from a storm to now a category FOUR in 48 hours. On top of that two men in white coats came and hauled me away and gave me a saliva test. Plus I have to replace my DGD Barney.
I’ll wait a few more days and try the dirty name calling.

Fabian Update.
Silliness aside, Fabian update, Sunday, 11:15 PM EDST.
Up to 140 MPH winds, makes it a monster and there is a SLIGHT chance it could start moving more to the North. Will be more definite by Wednesday which way it is going to go. Keep your finger crossed.

I am delurking to thank y'all for helping make my family's first WDW vacation a really great one! We were there on the Fairytale package from 8/23/-8/30. The last time I was there was in 1972, and things have changed a little since then. I couldn't have picked a better place to stay than WL. It's gorgeous.

I wrote up our daily experiences every night, and if I get ambitious I'll do a trip report. Cast members include Disney Cynic Dad (who grew up in Florida and actively avoided going to WDW), Thrill Gal (DD11, who has been on many roller coasters) and Popcorn Boy (DD5, named after one of the few foods at WDW he would actually eat). And me, I'm Type A Planner Mom, but I curbed my commando tendencies and actually relaxed and had fun!
