I booked a woods view room through AAA. I didn't make any other requests. You helped me out in a previous post letting me know that the woods view rooms are all in north wing building B furthest from the lobby. I think I will fax the room assigner at the appropriate time and request a room on the 4th or 5th floor since the 6th is a smooking floor. I don't thing I want to be on the ground and/or 1st or 2nd floors.

What do you think?

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks everyone for the menu help....I'm not sure where the menu I had came from but it wasn't complete I guess....they haev plenty I see now.

Blufairy>>>>>>>sending all the pixie dust your way that I can hold!! Hope everything works out!

Kim, glad you enjoyed your trip. Did you or yours spend anytime going to Ft. Wilderness.....I was hoping to hear more about it from someone who went recently?

Thanks,

boy...I'm having real problems typing today.

smooking instead of smoking and thing instead of think. LOL

Corky805- We did the Trails End Buffet for dinner one night. The waiter was great and offered lots of tips for touring. the food was good, pretty good selection. It was really nice over there; my girls got a kick out of the carts we saw parked. I guess they use those to get around. We had hoped to get over for the camp fire and movie but just didn't fit it in.

The boats to Ft. Wilderness and CR ran about every 15 min.

I am obsessed already and would love to go back ASAP!

corky and FloridaCat - Thank you!!!! My DH is very understanding, but he's not a Disneyholic like us. It's great to know there are people here who can empathize.

Hey Corky! We plan on doing the campfire storytime thing one night. I think Julia will love it!! Besides, who can pass up roasted marshmallows on an open fire!! Smores! Woohoo! :)

(Ok ok....it's obvious we aren't just going to Disney for Julia....)

I NEED A FIX!!! :teeth:

We enjoyed the very best breakfast and dinner buffets over at Ft. Wilderness on this last trip just a couple of weeks ago. We had had breakfast there, at Trails' End, back in April when we went, and it became our favorite then. We think it is the best food, AND the best price of any of the buffets. It's not a character meal, but that's okay because you don't ALWAYS want to do character meals, right?

The dinner buffet had roast buffalo meat with this luscious brown gravy, it was like a stew, sort of. There were also regular "tame" meats on the buffet, so didn't feel like the food was too weird, but it was there if you felt adventurous. The FRIED CHICKEN is the best I've ever had, even better than Grandma's (so said our boat captain on the way there - we had to promise not to tell her he said so). It's the same chicken as they serve at the Hoop De Doo, if you've ever seen that show. Desserts were apple cobbler and bread pudding with strawberries. Those are the two I remember, but it seems like there was another one. There was peel and eat shrimp. Wish I'd taken notes, there was so much fabulous food. I can't recommend Trails End highly enough, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

They also have a nice petting zoo over at Ft. Wilderness that we visiting back in April. Cute little Shetland ponies that have not-so-hidden Mickey's cut into the hair on their rumps. NOT a branding. Just the way the hair is cut. And lots of goats, chickens, and oh, my daughter loved all the peacocks that roam freely around the whole place.

One thing I wanted to do, and didn't get to because no one else in my group wanted to, was take the 1/2 mile(?) walk from the Lodge over to the Campground. I think it would be a really nice walk. Has anyone done it? Is it 1/2 mile?

Thanks for the review! We may just give it a shot when we go in 22 days or so. :teeth: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :teeth:

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: Fred, you crack me up....I can't wait to meet you all... PSST.....we aren't going to Disney just for Jared either....shhhh, don't tell ;) ....we are gonna try to hit as well, I love roasted marshmallows....I have decided that we are definately gonna try Trail's End too..it sounds yummy

Since we're whispering.... we're not going for DS either - mostly for us "Big" kids

I think I may have to revise my itinerary. By all of your reports, there are just so many great things to do at the lodge, we may not see much of Disney. :) Sounds like a visit to Fort Wilderness just became a part of my plan.

Maybe we'll see corky and majestic at the campfire - wearing the alien green mickey ears - right??? Although we will be the ones with the forest green - all out of alien at my Home Depot :(

I would go for 4th or 5th floor. I would suggest room 5032 to 5016 to get the view of the MK Castle.

Trails End is a must. Nine bucks including drinks for Breakfast & Lunch. Great Chicken and the same good Cornbread as WC.

For the Newbies, take the small boat, blue flag to FTW or walk the trial past the Villas.

Don't worry about a PS, they don't take them. Walk in and "PIG OUT" LOL

That brings up something I would like to know....

Do you know what boats go where based on flags and size? Can you please tell us?

Thanks!

Fred

There's a sign on the Dock about the flag colors. I think the boat with the green flag goes to FtW and MK and the blue flag goes to Contemporary.

I could very well have the colors mixed up though. Of course, the last time we went, FtW and WL were sharing a boat, but on trips prior, they had separate boats.

Just wanted to let you all know that I heard back from Tara at Wilderness Lodge Itenerary Planning
regarding local Internet dialup numbers to the Lodge. (By the way, she verified that there is no wireless access in The Lodge at this time and no plans for it in the near future.)

I sent her two numbers to check for me. One for Orlando and one for Kissimmee. She replied at first saying that
the Kissimmee number was local but then I advised her I was told it wasn't. I asked her to please make sure it was in fact local. She replied and said that she was sorry for the confusion and that Kissimmee is in fact NOT local but the Orlando number was.

This means that the call would cost .75 cents per call with no additional charges. Not too bad!! I figure I will connect once a day to say hi to everyone at night and maybe give you some real time access to some photos or trip reports. :)

For anyone that wants to, I signed up with a company called MyFreeI. (As in My Free Eye) They provide dialup internet access accross the nation for F-R-E-E up to 10 hours a month. Anything over that gets billed at $1 per additional hour. Can you complain? Nope! Also, no banner ads or software to download. It uses Internet Explorer and your normal Windows dialler.

The MyFreeI Orlando number that I had Tara check for me was 407-641-4014. Again, she said this was a local call and she works there. When you are at the hotel I would HIGHLY recommend that you contact the operator and verify it is a local call prior to you connecting!!! I am not responsible for any charges that may be incurred due to your use of this information. As in, IT AINT MY FAULT IF YOU DON'T DOUBLE CHECK! :)

You can read more about the service at http://www.myfreei.com

Be sure to list me as a referrer if you sign up. Not sure if I get anything but it would be a plus I guess!

Small boats, blue flag - WL, Contemprory, FTW.

Large Boat, green flag - MK. Check with the Captain as it also sometimes goes to FTW to pick up MK people.

On trip from MK we stayed on and went to FTW for lunch after it dropped off WL guests. Then took the blue flag back to WL.

FloridaCat

Thanks for the additional room info. I will use your advice when I fax in my room request.

Trails End

sounds like a must do! To be honest, I have never even considered it because I guess I figured it was only for the FW guests. Silly me! My DS is definitely out of the character stage (he won't re-enter until he has children of his own, or reaches his 30's, whichever comes first) so the lack of characters isn't a problem for us. And you say they have breakfast, lunch and dinner, eh? Okay, Mermaid3, what do you think? Shall we give it a whirl?:earsgirl:

Majestic- I'm still working on the pic. You'll know it when I get it in there! But is the html part of it correct?

thanks for the dial up internet thing. I am glad you asked about the local numbers. We have cable modem athome so that leaves us connect-less when we travel.
BTW - My modem and cable t.v. has been out since yesterday so...WOW did I have a lot of catching up to do when i got back on The WL page.

How old is your ds? My ds is 14 and is also out of the character meal thing. He hated 50's prime-time the last time we were there b/c they paid attention to him:( I want to go back b/c the s'mores there are Awesome!! but he is really fighting me on this one. He says he does not want to be called Skippy and set the table and eat all his veggies:(
