beechparty Why don't you try the Sci Fi Diner instead? It has good food, a cool atmosphere, and the waiters don't "pick on you" if you know what I mean!

We have also eaten at the Trails End Buffeteria, Hoop de Doo, and have stayed at Ft. Wilderness camping in tents, pop-ups, and the cabins if anyone has any questions. I would be happy to answer! (*It is one of my favorite places on-site, and I am still working on Disney Family to have a large group of us stay there!)

Hello, Majestic....kimmar, corky, floridacat, tiggirl and all of the rest! Have a great evening..

Blue Fairy and Corky,
Thank you so much for responding to my ? about the temperatures! That's a big help (especially knowing to carry a sweater for the resteraunts!).

Blue Fairy - I'll collect a little PD for you when I'm there! Sure hope you can get there!

Corky, Planning to take in the Ft. Wilderness campfire our first night. Will post a review in my report when I return! :)

KIMMAR - Check out this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly with Russel Crowe on the cover - INSIDE the issue is the funniest pic of your man Hugh - he's playing some Broadway guy and making a goofy face with his tongue out! Too cute!

A sweater will do as we still have a month of hot weather here yet.

BlueFairy, hope we hear good news from you tommorow.
Newbies, pay a visit to the Community thread. There are those that need our prayers and PD

Goodnght all, enjoyed "reading" everyone today.
God Bless

NJfab4 (and others who are going in the near future): let me know what you think of the temp inside the WL. We were always freezing and estimate the temp to be set below 70 degrees. In fact, the night we were all going to Adult night out at the Cali Grill, everyone kept going back to their room for jackets because it was so cold waiting in the Lobby. When we got outside, it was hot and humid!

I know when we got to our room it was set at 60 degrees by (mousekeeping, we assumed). So, we definitely turned it up a bit.

My youngest DS is going to be 14 in a few days, and refuses to go to the Prime Time also! He was embarassed at Chef Mickey's this time also, and he loved it a few years earlier. Once they hit "the teens" it's just a whole different world. But you know, the funny thing is he continues to say "if we aren't going to Disney, I don't want to go anywhere"! He is a Disney-Maniac, just don't embarras him! My older DS is 23, still living at home:eek: and absolutely loves going to Disney with the family. He doesn't want to miss it. It's the magic I guess!

Floridacat I wish I would have talked to you before our trip last December! It was so cold!:earseek: and even though I thought I had packed for all weather, we did not have enough long pants and long sleeves, so we ended up buying more sweatshirts than usual! And my husband bought himself a green Tigger jacket at WL, only wore it a few times, and he lost it when we got home! But I'm definitely going to check with you on the weather before the April trip!

Liv2CdWorld - Thanks for the well wishes! I can't wait!!
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Florida Cat : Thanks for the tip on the hot weather!
Disbug: Will definately fill you in on the cool lodge temps! I'm usually really cold in air conditioning so I've packed a few warmer things to hang out in at the lodge!

Looking forward to giving a great report!

Tig-girl
Yes it got cold last December. I went down to MGM for the Osborn lights and took a Sweat Shirt and was glad I did. It was a treat for a transplant Yankee like me to walk down the main street drinking HC and snow, manmade, hitting my face. The lack of seasonal changes makes it hard to get into the season spirit, but the Osborn lights helped a lot. Don’t know what I will do this year since the lights are cancelled.

You’re welcome. Florida weather is very unpredictable, but you can count on “swimming” weather until late Oct, with cool nights. You’re back in the pool by mid March.
When we were at WL in July, we were under blankets to sleep. I never figured out where the thermostat was, but you could have kept meat in the room at night. LOL

Oh, that won't do, there must be a thermostat somewhere. I know usually I have to adjust it daily to compensate for mousekeeping's generosity with the AC. Surely someone knows how to adjust the AC in the WL rooms.
Also, unfortunately I have no good news. Only that they have her on "paid administrative leave" while they make their decisions. But paid is better than laid off, right. At least we've made it down to 16 days. Now . . . where did I put that packing list last Aug??

BlueFairy,

The thermostat is on the wall by the door. Also, glad everything seems to be working out (somewhat) for your Aunt.

Kieth-atl - sure, rub it in :p

The last installment of our trip is up for the interested parties. I held off writing it for as long as I could. Writing that last day TR is kind of like the official closure of the trip and I didn't want it to be over. But, I guess life must go on.

Day 7

I enjoyed reading your trip report.

I was wondering about the "kid" food at the WL. My older DD age 7 is a good eater. My yougest DD age 5 is extremally picky. I see you have a 5 yr. old also and just wanted to get some insight from you.

All my yougest may eat there is PB&J and grilled cheese. I am hoping that they are both real kid food and not very fancy.

What's your take on the subject.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tardin1964:
I can't give you a report yet on the nature of the kid food, but I can relate to having a picky 5 year old! In fact, I have 2 five-year olds and, while both are picky, one is at least a little flexible but the other is EXTREME! So, we are planning to stop on our way to the lodge and stock up with a loaf of bread, some peanut butter (has to be Peter Pan!), jelly, and Hostess powdered donuts! That should get him through the week, I hope! (And I'd rather spend $5 on a few groceries, than $5 each meal for a sandwich he won't eat! :smooth: )

Blue Fairy,
I'm with you . . . will be checking for that thermostat as soon as I walk in the door!! :p Glad it looks like you're on your way! Mousesavers.com has an unbelievable packing list if you need to refresh your memory!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I feel I should at least give you a heads up.
All local Orlando TV stations have issued a Tropical Storm watch. It is predicated to be on the Florida coast on Tuesday. I would not change any plans, but would monitor the situation closely and have rain gear packed. If you are flying down, keep in touch with your airline for any schedule delays or changes.

These things are unpredictable as they bounce around like a Ping Pong Ball in the Atlantic or can cross over to the gulf of Mexico.. For the uninformed this is the incubator for a Hurricane.

For your convenience here is a link to Orlando Channel 2

I just saw your countdown clock and got excited for you. I can't wait till mine is down to 2 days.

I wouldn't worry about the weather yet. Tuesday is still some time away. A lot can happen between now and then. FloridaCat is right though, you should be prepared just in case.

Believe it or not the last time my wife and I were at Disney was in 1992 at the end of August...the time when Hurricane Andrew hit southeast Florida. That was one of the worst hurricanes in history and I think only one day at WDW was really a wash out. We made the best of the weather and had a great time anyway. When I think about the trip now, we had so many other great memeories that I hardly remember the weather those few days unless something reminds me of it.

Back to the food issue my 5 yr. old is so picky it really has prevented us from wanting to go on a long vacation. We keep thinking she is going to get a little better but we have finally come to realize this is the way she is and we will deal with it. We will buy what she likes and have her eat in the room when she doesn't like/want anything else.

NJFabFour

I just checked some weather sites. There is only a 5% chance of this storm hitting Florida. I would not worry to much :D

As locals we will not get concerned until Sunday or Monday. Most fizzle out, but we are going into the peak season so we pay more attention then normal.
Just a heads up so you are aware. Once it gets past Cuba is when the reports will get more accuate.

As far as the 5%, that can and will change fast. Current computer models have it heading from Miami to Central Fl.

Come and enjoy the Magic, just keep a eye on things.

For those with teens who are embarrased to go to the Prime Time or character meals, cheer up, they grow out of it! :)
My DS was 16 and 17 when we went to the Prime Time, it is one of his favorite places to eat and definitely on the list for our next trip! :teeth: As far as the character meals, the adults enjoy them more than the teens, but they'll grow into that, too! We all enjoyed Chef Mickeys' As I remember, my brother-in-law was standing up waving his napkin to get the characters to come over!

I definitely understand the obsession to go back to WL. There is something magical there and it's true, when you check out, there is just a little part of you that never really leaves. ;) When you get home, you start planning your next trip right away.

Tig-girl - we'll have to try that place for "eats". :p Want to go horseback riding, too? :Pinkbounc :bounce:
