Does anybody know where the quieter rooms will be on the 7th floor? We just booked WL Conc. and we like a quiet room. The last time we stayed at WL we were on one of the wings and it got pretty loud with doors slamming a lot. I understand that 7th floor is just in the lodge part and some of that is over the lobby so does anybody know where the quiet rooms might be located. I am thinking about just putting on the request that we like a quiet room with a nice view.

Im sitting here for an hour now reading this entire thread. It is so great. Thank you all for your posts.

I have booked WL with the FTP for October 25-Nov 1, 2003.!!! Im going to MNSSHP on Oct 31.

After many visits to WDW and staying at POR and ASM and offsite I have taken advantage of the great FTP of book 4 nights get 7 plus passes. I have always adored the WL and made it my business to go there at least 2x each visit. Last December we ate at Whispering Canyon and went to each floor to look at the fossils in the chimney. I didnt want to leave :( The Christmas tree was awesome!

I have requested a 5th floor room and have a woods view. Anyone have a suggestion for a good room #?? I hope I get a nice view..Im sure I will..Im just sooooooooo excited to be at this resort. I love the music they play in the lobby and have downloaded some of the tunes. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I have two fav times of the year to be at WDW. December for the Christmas events and fall time, namely October. The weather is super and the crowds are low.

Im not worried bout noise from the lodge, as I live in Bklyn, NY and its noisey as heck where I live. "Sigh" thats NYC for ya. I put the AC on fan all the time for white noise to drown out the exterior noise. Anyplace is quieter than where I live!!

Im also booked for the Disney Magic Cruise, July 24, 2004.

Hope I get to meet up with some of my fellow Dis family when Im at WL, last week of October, 2003.

How do I get a countdown clock..I tried a link but it wouldnt work. Help! (Forgive me, but I just cant find it)

Starz723, we just returned (June 7-13) from our first trip to the WL, and I fell in love with it! I can't wait to go back (trying to convince grandparents to watch the boys so DH and I can go for a week next fall for our 20th anniv.). Anyway, we were in room 5012, woods view, and it was fantastic! We could see the castle thru the trees - the trees actually thinned out at our level and got thicker when you went higher, if you can imagine that. 5012 was a queen with bunk beds if that's what you're looking for. The elevator wasn't too far away, and this elevator brought you out next the laundry, Roaring Forks and doorway to the pool; great location!

I wanna go back!! :( :(

hi starz723 and welcome,

the wl is so great. we love it too. we are going in december and can't wait.

we love the music in the lobby, when we were on our honeymoon was the first time we heard it and now, every time i hear the "last of the mohicans" cd it brings me back. i know that is only one facet of the music they play but it is very special.

we too, loved going floor to floor to discover the fossils. when you go the next time look for the hidden mickey when standing in front of the fire place and looking up to the next level, (right hand side) it's cool.

p.s. i used to live in the bronx, ny and i know what you means about noise. when i moved to florida it took me weeks before i could fall asleep because it was so quiet. :D

take care, enjoy and have a magical, pixie dust filled time. :D

Thanks for your replies.:Pinkbounc

Im going to need two queen beds. Im a single parent, so its just me and DS age 11. Who knows, maybe I can convince one of my friends to join me (why is money always an issue:( )

About the WL music. There is a list of the music they play at the lodge on www.wdwig.com.

One of my fav tunes they play at the WL is " The Big Country" by the Royal Philharmonic. When I was a kid (long ago, LOL) my Mom would listen to a radio station that regularly played that piece of music. You can imagine my reaction when I heard it playing in the lobby, after sooo many years of not hearing it, and it flooded me with my chilhood memories and my wonderful mom(who is gone now:( ). I just stood there and couldnt believe my ears. I had to know the name of that song!! So, the WL has a special place in my heart for bringing back to me that special piece of music. I look forward to hearing it played again. They also play several pieces from Dances with Wolves..

Hi! We are taking our 2 kids (3 and 4y.o.) to Disney for the first time and we are staying at the WL (woods view). We won't be checking in until about 11pm....will this affect our chances of getting one of the better rooms in that section? We only have 2 days at the park and are really splurging (for us) to stay at WL. I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it. :) Thanks for any help!

...do it up in style, not forgetting the tiniest detail. That's what I love about a Disney resort ~ the theming, right down to the "mood music"!! At WL, you honestly feel like you are swept away to Yosemite.....:D

Just in case this is not already posted.
Very good photos of WL at
wdwig.com

They release Lady Bugs up North to protect the trees, is this the reason for the question?

I believe BlueFairy is inquiring because GF does do the lady bug release!:D

I also read somewhere that WL did do the ladybug release. Has this been discontinued? We stayed at FW last year and I had thought about doing it with my daughters.

WDW releases ladybugs to help control other insects on property. I knew that GF does it with the kids. I was just wondering about WL, because I have heard rumors that they did. I have never heard an "I was there and it's true" type story. Just thought someone on this great FAQ would know.

I have long watched this thread (the "old" thread, included) and can credit it with helping to decide upon WL as our resort of choice! The input is invaluable (though the reading is a bit tedious! ;) )! With less than 2 months to go and the school year FINALLY over (school employee!), it's time to get down to business and finalize plans! ??'s include:
a) Staying in standard room, was planning to request North side facing MK 5th or 6th floor, hoping for a view of the fireworks. HOWEVER. . . have found out that the week we're going (last week of Aug), fireworks are only shown twice and we will likely be in the park at least one of those nights. Soooo, that not being a big deal now, shall I still consider this side of the lodge or request a lobby area room? Do both areas include rooms with bunk beds (definately desire these for DD and DS, both 5 y.o.!)? I don't mind looking out over a service area, so whatever is more convenient will do. Do the lobby area rooms have balconies?
b) Will check in before 11 am on Sunday - an upgrade would certainly be nice . . . any chance of that? Hoping that my mention of DH's birthday AND our 10 year anniversary that week on my room request may help, too? Any thoughts? Also, had read on the "old thread" about some folks bringing gifts for the CM's upon check in, though making it clear that gift is not intended to gain any "extras" - has anyone done this lately?
c) Have read on another site (Tourguide Mike) about all the neat kid activities - any way to get a schedule of these before our arrival to help with our planning/itinerary?
d) Would love to get the chance to be a Flag Family! Has anyone requested this on Sunday check-in and been turned down (schedule full)?
THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE!! :)

I will be in WL next week and I will try to get some of your answers for you.
As for upgrade, you can call CRO and talk to them. It has been my experience they bend backwards to help me and answer my "dumb" questions. 407-934-7639. The WL # is 407-824-3200

If you want North wing, Jeanne had a post where she was in 5012 that had bunk beds and MK view. Look for her post and PM her.

Go to wdwig.com and you can get menu and a lot of information on all the parks and Resorts. Lot of good reviews on all things Disney

Answers to NJFabFour:
A) I personally would still request North side due to the close proximity and where the 2nd set of elevators leaves you on level 1. The 2nd set of elevators is down the North side corridor(will leave you by Roaring Forks, Laundry room, and close to the pool).
B) Early check-in won't guarantee you an upgrade(nor will late check-in), but chances are favorable for that time of year. We stayed at WL last August with a standard room booking, but was upgraded to courtyard view on North side...it was perrrfect!
C)I am sure you can get the list of activities, but not sure how!
D)Request Flag Family as soon as you check in. You may have a shot!
