New Add On...New Member No. Too?

We recently purchased a resale contract several months ago at SSR with an October UY. We received our membership from DVC at that time.

We just added on a small contract at AKV directly through DVC. We received our papers by Federal Express the next day and there was a temporary DVC membership card. This number is completely different than our DVC membership previously provided when we purchased our original SSR contract.

I checked our contract online and our points are there, but it does show we have two separate memberships. It also shows we have two different UY. October for SSR and August for AKV.

Under the "Alerts" Section for our AKV contract it states, "You do not have any Vacation Points for Member ID number XXXXXXX available to bank at this time because your banking window is at 0%."

There is also an alert that states "This Use Year's remaining Vacation Points for Member ID number XXXXXXX will expire on the last business day of July 2010." These alerts for our "free" 2009 points we were given from Disney as their promotional package they are currently offering.

First, I am confused as to why we have two separate memberships.

Second, I am confused why we have to different use years.

Third, I am confused what I need to do about my 2009 points that were just “given” to me yesterday.

Fourth, I am just plain confused and hoping the experts can help me sort this out before I call my DVC guide.

You need to call your guide, it sounds like he/she put your add-on in for the wrong UY. If points are still available for sale in your Oct UY they can resend the paperwork for signatures.

Okay, so this is possibly all fixable? And I can stop worrying?

I'm assuming you haven't returned your signed papers and haven't passed your closing date. If that is the case, then it should all be fixable as long as they still have points to sell in the Oct UY.

I wouldn't worry too much until you speak to your guide and see what he/she has to say.

Best of luck straightening this out.

Yes. It sounds as if you haven't signed and returned the papers for the add on. Call your guide and tell them about the UY problem. They'll just have you destroy the paperwork you received and will issue a new set with the correct UY. At least one would hope it will now be the correct UY since they didn't do to great the first time.

And make sure the name on your new AKV contract is exactly the same as on your old SSR contract. It sounds as if you have an entirely new contract not an add on.

It's very important that the names on both contracts be exactly the same. If the names are different the DVC will call them separate contracts and you end up with two different contracts (not just an a different extension) and possible different UY's if you request a different UY.

Definitely call your guide and let the guide know you really want the same UY and the same member number and what can be done to fix it. Good luck.

I know that right now, they are pushing the Aug UY to new buyers. It is possible that it just got entered that way, instead of with your current UY.

It should be a simple thing to fix. Give your guide a call and have things changed for you!

I talked to our guide this afternoon. She said it was a mistake and it should be the same member number and UY. She is sending out the corrected paperwork.

I would never have known to check this information or have even noticed this if not for a previous post by someone else!

I will check the naming conventions to make sure they are the same on both contracts. Do they need to be in the same order as well? For example, would Jack Smith and Jane Doe on SSR and Jane Doe and Jack Smith on AKV be a problem? Or does it need to be Jack Smith and Jane Doe on both contracts.

Your best bet is to use the same names. in the same order, and of course the same form of title.

Glad you noticed and had it corrected!

As long as they get things done as an add on and you see that correctly in your account you do not have to worry about the name order etc. beyond the fact of making certain it is titled as you wish.

Making certain the names are exactly the same and in the correct order is necessary when purchasing resale so that Disney will add it on to your existing membership. Since you're buying directly they will title it as it needs to be to add it on. Again - just make certain they have the people on it that you think should be and see it as an add on in your account! :thumbsup2
