NEVER Flew AirTran.....A Tad Nervous, Don't Know Much About AirTran....FEEDBACK???

Airtran has actually been around since before the Valuejet crash. I flew them for the first time probably 10 years ago. After the Valuejet incident valuejet bought out Airtran. I flown with them 3 or 4 times and have always had a good flight. They don't fly out of a close airport so prices need to be real low to fly them anymore.

Haven't flown them yet - but will be in 24 days.

Anyway, ***knock on wood*** I have had them booked since Feb and no time/plane changes as of yet. We have direct flights both there and back (out of MSP).

Hey MN - what concourse does Airtran fly out of?

If I were to book a flight with air tran and they change my flight times, it would be no problem if it were my flight to Orlando because I have access to the internet at home, but what if they change my returning flight once I'm in Orlando I have no access to a computer. How would I find out if it's been changed or not??? This makes me a tad nervous.

You can always call their customer service center (1-800-AIR-TRAN) the day before your departure from Orlando to check to see if there have been been any changes.

We LOVE AirTran, and use them for all of our Disney travel. We have $54 nonstop each way from DC to Orlando next week! At this price we can go more than we ever thought possible. (We have $54. nonstop in Sept., too!)

Make sure than you sign up for their FF program before you go. Four round trip flights equals a free one way voucher that is easy to redeem and can be used for a coast to coast flight. That's how went to DL last year round trip for free!

We've never had a problem with luggage. I heard on the Today Show not long ago that they have the lowest persentage of lost luggage for all major US airlines! We have had some flight changes...ususally it's a very small adjustment. Once it was a major change, and a phone call to a real person at Airtran complaining (nicely) that the new flight times didn't work for us resulted in a free flight change to our advantage.

Relax and enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Don't they have internet access on the cruise ships? Also, call right when you hit port.

From what I have read, Airtran does more tweeking months ahead of time... I have not read much about them changing a flight a week or less out.... anytime that is done it is due to mechanical or weather issues.....

Have fun!

First, I love reading all this Information THANKS SO MUCH !!! :woohoo:
Next, I already Booked our 4 RT Tix on Airtran, Can I still sign up for their Frequent Flyer Deal ??? And Get The Credit ????
You are all really easing my mind about AirTran Air, thank you again !!! :goodvibes :grouphug:

Glad I found this thread as I just booked 4 RT tickets on AirTran. We're leaving from Flint, MI to MCO on 11/24/06 for a DCL cruise. Will check back to hear how others have enjoyed/not enjoyed their AirTran experiences. Also, thanks for the heads up on flight time changes.

By the way, airfare was $114 one way and the flights are direct. Best deal we've seen so far, and didn't want to wait until later this year with gas prices skyrocketing.

Yes, but you have to pay for internet access on the ship and I won't be doing that. I'm not worried about it. I already have assigned seats and we'll be checking in WAY before our flight anway.

I was the OP of this thread, as I have never really heard of AIRTRAN.....
I am also so happy to read such positive feedback from all the DIS'ers.
We too are from Flint to MCO, but on November 11th. Our rate was $104 for one way on a non-stop flight. I was thrilled when I saw that, its the best rate I have come across too, and I have been looking for a couple months.
I was afraid to put it off any longer also!
YIPPEE for Us, Huh !!??!
From reading these posts, it sounds like a pretty decent airline.
I am just sooooooooo excited our air travel is done & booked!! :tilt: pluto: :tink: :flower1:

If someone sees AirTran dates extend in December on their website - do tell the DIS! :goodvibes

I can't even begin to count the number of Airtran flights we have taken, we love them.. never had an issue with lost luggage, or overbooking. DH family is in Boston so he travels there quite a bit on Airtran.. I feel very comfortable flying with them and hope to continue flying with them for many years to come.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU !!
Now I can stop fretting and start planning all the fun stuff of our vacation!!! :grouphug: :thanks:
