Negative Reaction about our Trip from Family

I couldn't tell you how many times we heard "why??? she won't remember it!" It drove me crazy.

Us, too -- I started telling people, "Maybe not, but I will!" Those moments, the expressions on her face (and not only dd2 but dd4 and ds5 who people also said were "too young") are absolutely priceless memories to me. I can't wait to take them all back!

When we told MIL that we would be going to 2 weeks she said, "OHHH NO you cant go for two weeks!" I said, "Yes we can and we are. The longer you stay the cheaper it is!"
They goto Europe every year!!

Where else can you go with kids and have so many things to do?

The other half of the family goes to Outer Banks and sits on the beach and get drunk at night. Sound boring to us!! Im not into sunburns and hangovers...LOL

Some people dont get it. Some people do not do Disney right. They dont do there homework! Like my parents...all they did was the MK for one day without a room. Now they cannot understand why we love it! I wouldnt like it that way either.

Disnee Dad Says................................................Feel for these people that don't get it.

Typical conversation is... What you're going again! Yup! Why don't you try some place else? Like what? Hawaii. Been there four times, it's our other favorite place. How about DC? Did it twice, it's our third favorite place.

How about New York? (Dad Reflects) New York, hmm, what should I see besides the obvious? Um, well I've never been. So you reccommend a place you've never been to over a place I've been four times?

The bottom line is "THEY DON'T KNOW, WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW!"

And a few will even go, on a fourth of July weekend, so they only need to use a couple days of vacation. They will either overpay with a package, or end up at Motel 6 on International Drive. ( no offense to Motel 6, and I hope there isn't really one on I Drive!) They will wonder why they didn't see it all in four days. And will never see our point of view.

And a few lucky ones, will say let's go for it. show me the ropes and give me some tips. They will join here, and read for hours. They will be able to give advice to people who have already gone, before they take thier first trip!!!

Because.............."THEY KNOW, WHAT WE ALL KNOW!!!"

We took our DD who was a week and a half shy of her 2nd bday last month. I couldn't tell you how many times we heard "why??? she won't remember it!" It drove me crazy. We had the best time and DD is still asking to see Minne and Donald on a daily basis. Go, have a fantastic time!!!

Yeah that is the craziest comment!! Who cares if she doesn't remember it? Will she have a great time? Yes. Will you have a great time knowing she had a great time? Yes. Will you remember the great time she had? Yes. Can you go back again and again as she gets older? Yes!!!!!

I can soo relate to this! My kids are older, but we live on a very tight budget year round. We have only been to WDW once, but I stay on these boards so that as soon as I can work it out we can go again. The one time we went our kids were 4, 9 and 14. Now they are 9, 15 and 19 and the 19 year old has a new baby of her own! That was our biggest vacation ever and my kids STILL talk about it! Memories are priceless! On vacation you have time you wouldn't normally have to make some of the very best memories. Trust me - they grow up much much too fast.

I get that all of the time. I plan at least one trip to Disney each year.

My sister used to even give me a hard time about going all of the time - at least until she booked an expensive trip to Puerto Rico last year. Don't get me wrong, she said it was beautiful country and her resort was lovely - but it was very expensive and the hotel told her not to leave the resort property because it was not safe! She felt trapped and she came back frazzled and booked a long weekend at WDW for a couple months later, because she felt like she did not get a vacation!

She now books a Disney vacation each year!

The world is full of those who don't get it and many of them never will and yes those people are very likely to be in your own family. If you are lucky you may be able to convert a few . I have yet to break it to my family that doesn't get it that we will be going at holiday time for oh my gosh the 2nd trip this year!!!! I know that there will be that tone in the voices and that look in their eyes but ya know what...WHO CARES!!! I pay my bills and save $$ this is what we are doing. We have never been at holiday time and darn it we're going..we're going to have a great time and so should you!!!

We have the same problem in my family...my side are big Disney fans yet when I told them about our cruise booked for next year they rolled their eyes. I booked the thing last year so we could save and plan! I will send them a postcard...in the meantime, I am enjoying the planning stages

We get the same thing from my wife's family. We don't even tell them that we are going now.

I think that it's because they don't go on vacations and think that it is a foolish waste of money but they act the same way when we used to drive down to New Orleans for the weekend (we're three hours away) and that is cheap.

Who knows? Either you believe in the magic or not.
