Needing some cards of encouragement!

I just read her update. I had tears for her and her mother. I cannot imagine sitting in her position right now feeling so helpless as a mom. It broke my heart to read that. I can't imagine a child having to deal with being that ill. They just shouldn't have to and I don't understand it.

Just read her site. I am so sorry that she is not feeling well. I hope doctors find the cause soon and are able to fix it. I am sending prayers and pixie dust and hugs her way.

Emily's mom posted on their site yesterday:

"I can't tell you how much the mail makes Emily's day - cards from every state! There are so many good people out there - taking the time to write wonderful words of inspiration and encouragement. Thank You for these gifts!"

I know a lot of this mail is coming from people here on the dis and I hope you know how much it is appreciated! I've always known how special the people around here are and I knew there would be so many of you willing to jump in and help! Thanks so much!!!

wow- I hope this is the day things turn around! I can't begin to imagine what the family is going through! Emily must be a strong person! Is there anything else besides cards we could send? I sent one last week, so maybe she has them all staggered .... not like 20 one day and none the next!!

I'm sure you can send anything, except food items. I've sent stuffed animals in the past. She should be out of isolation in the next day or so and then she can have just about anything. I know that since she's been in the hospital she has found a passion for painting and art. Sketch pads, pencils, art books, anything at all.

The main thing is to let her know she's not forgotten and that there are people all over wishing her well. It really keeps her spirits up!

I have also sent cards to her mom. (Her name is Tricia.) I realize that Emily is going through all of the physical stuff and needs to keep her spirits up but I can't imagine all that her mom is going through, too. Both Tricia and Emily are so strong and such an inspiration! I can't imagine having to watch one of my children go through what Emily has been through!
