To all the wonderful dissers out there:
My friend's 16-year old daughter has been battling leukemia for over four years now. Finally, last Friday, she received a bone marrow transplant. She is doing as well as can be expected right now but has a long road still ahead of her. She is in St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, away from all of her family and friends except for her mom. Her mom posted that she would love to receive some mail.
This girl is remarkable. She has been through so much but still keeps up with school work and is very active in charity events. I can't even begin to imagine what she is going through but would like to be able to do anything I can to help. Sending cards is the one thing that I know I can do!
I know first-hand how kind people are on the disboards and I just wanted to put this out there. If you have the time to send a note of encouragement or a card I'm sure she would appreciate it, as would her mom. Here's the address as well as a link to her website:

Emily's mom posted on their site yesterday (4/18/06):
"I can't tell you how much the mail makes Emily's day - cards from every state! There are so many good people out there - taking the time to write wonderful words of inspiration and encouragement. Thank You for these gifts!"
I know a lot of this mail is coming from people here on the dis and I hope you know how much it is appreciated! I've always known how special the people around here are and I knew there would be so many of you willing to jump in and help! Thanks so much!!!
