We have 6 park days (non expiring) for our next trip (no kids!) coming in Jan. Would you do all 6 park days at a leisurely pace, or would you rather take a day off mid-vacation and do other non-park activities?

I would love both, I just don't know which one is more tempting. I figure since it will be January and the parks close early , we will have our evenings to do non park activities too, so I may as well use up all my park tickets. But I would also like to do a couple of EMH(mostly evenings)......so that would use up a couple of my evenings. uggggg what do I do?

I love to go to Downtown Disney when we're not in the parks. We've even gone to Universal parks but stayed on Disney property just so I can get my Disney fix! If you have already made plans for another Disney trip you may want to take a day off to do something besides the parks. We are leaving in the morning for a week at Disney and I plan to spend every day in the parks. I'm a lot closer than you, I'm in South Carolina, so I get to Florida several times a year. I don't get to Disney as often as I'd like due to the cost. I have four children and it can get pretty expensive. You should decide what you'd like to do most. I plan on doing other things after Animal Kingdom closes.

I would use all 6 days and take the parks at a leisurely pace. We did that with 7 days and it worked fine. We didn't spend all day in the parks, a couple of days we swam in the morning and didn't go to the parks until afternoon or early evening. The other days we went early for rope drop then took a break and went back at night.

I would love to do the parks at a leisurely pace. You can always leave and do something alse if you want to.I also would sleep late a few mornings.

I think we will probably end up doing park days. After a couple of commando style trips, we are ready to take it easy and watch the other ones rush by while we nibble on a Mickey bar....

I think DH is really looking forward to that leisurely pace, he hates my previous kind of touring. So leisurely pace it will be!

Hi nluvwithmickey -

I'd opt for the six leisurely park days too. It would be so great to go at a relaxing pace!

This is so funny, I was just reading your reply to someone who was questioning traveling to Disney in the summer. We were considering summer too, with our three kids, but after reading your reply I'm definitely reconsidering. You had mentioned that your kids had a really hard time with the heat. But I see above that they're not coming with you in January now - do they not want to go in cooler weather. Now I'm reconsidering again. What was the reason for not taking the kids in Jan?? Help!

Precisely, though I find that more and more now I just want to rest during vacation, and having been to WDW many times, it's a great place for it, because I really don't care whether I "see everything" anymore.

I'd say that, since you're going in January, you're making a good call. If it were a warmer month, I'd suggest taking a couple days away from the parks and go horseback riding, or rent a boat, or just hang by the pool and work on your tan with a Pina Colada. Just make sure to keep your options open and know that you don't have to do a park every day and you can play a little of your trip by ear.

Can you really go wrong either way? One thing I will say is that in all the trip reports I've read, I don't know of a single person who took a day off, regretted it, and wished they had spent one more day in the park.
