Need ideas for an "American Idol" birthday party

My dd will be turning 10 next month, and wants an American Idol birthday party. I found a bunch of AI party supplies in a catalog, now I need ideas for the rest. Should we have a singing competition? Prizes? Ideas please! Thanks!

I would do a karaoke competition.
Put the kids in different categories. One would sing songs that they hear on the radio now, another would do a duet, and the last group could do nursury rhymes.
Put together a bunch of clothes and props that they could use for their preformance and have the winners recieve a prize.

Definitely karaoke. However, I would not make it a competition, just rather havfe a karaoke machine for the kids to get up there and act crazy IF THEY WANT TO. I for one would have been mortified as a kid if I got up there and was expected to sing and be judged in front of everyone, lol.
