I can't believe I am almost done with all my shopping and have nothing for my dd. She is 17 yo. She made a very modest wish list and other family members covered all of it. Now I have no ideas and no presents for our dd. She has a laptop and an iphone so those are out. Any ideas. Also, I usually just go shopping and see things but due to health reasons I can not go out, I can only cyber shop. Thanks for the help!

Makeup, clothes?
Bath and body works
iTunes card?
Other gift cards?
Infinity scarf
Jewelry

I had trouble finding things for my DD who is 19 ! Then I finally decided to get her a country thunder ticket ! So how about a concert ticket or a play or something that you can coordinate with her other friends parents ?

A nice camera
Show Tickets
AAA
Boots
Special piece of jewlery
New coat or jacket
Kindle, Nook, or Tablet (mine are getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2)
Makeup
Perfume
Spa or Mani/Pedi Girft Certificate

Hope this helps!

At 17 , I wanted a car LOL. Actually at 17, I wanted a lot of things because my parents only bought us stuff at Christmas and birthday's so we had a lot of things on our lists every year. Of course, I'm 52 and most in my age group had the same upbringing.

I'd say gift cards to her favorite clothing stores. I have boys (26 and 29) and they make an Amazon wish list (actually ongoing) and anytime they see something they want or need they put it on the list. It doesn't have to be just items on Amazon either, you can link from other sites. Maybe she could do that for you.

Kindle or other e-reader
Makeup (if she's into it)- the new Naked2 palette from Urban Decay is super popular
Her favorite perfume
TV on DVD of shows she likes
Movies on DVD she likes
Chocolate
Nice camera

Will she be going away to college soon? Maybe new bedding, own towel set, new luggage?

My niece got glasses, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc around that age, as Christmas gifts. (her request--she saw her older sister go out in the world with no house goods and she wanted to be prepared)

A trip to Disney? :cool1:

We are doing some of this for dd 17. A mini fridge and mini microwave that will be allowed in her dorms :) she can use them in her room at home until then lol. A small one cup coffee maker, great for all kinds of things in the dorm, a small tv , bedding , good desk lamp , gift cards. DD will be spending 6 weeks in Spain this year so we are getting her some good travel items too

I'm 19 and here's typical things I have received or would like:

Cute comfy pajamas and slippers / sipper socks

Loose leaf tea sets

Barnes & Noble gift card

Starbucks gift card

Movie vouchers / gift cards (I haven't had to pay to see a movie in a long time, so I appreciate this!)

Jamba Juice gift cards

Bath & Body Works / Sephora gift card

Clothing items you know she's looked at (I don't recommend you just buy her clothes other than necessities like a warm coat)

iPad

Electronic accessories

A Visa gift card is always welcome

Chocolate is usually in my stocking

Concert/theatre tickets

As PP mentioned - trip to Disney :D

A trip to a nice hair salon

A CBTL brewing system

At that age I would've liked a car and AAA lol although that's not what happened ;)

I agree with a PP. If your DD will be living in the dorms next year - that opens up a bunch of options.

My DD is a freshman in college this year - so last year - we took opportunities to get stuff for her dorm for presents.

Some things - and YES - these are pretty boring.

Iron
small ironing board.
Teeny tiny vacuum cleaner/sweeper
Electric teakettle
Hair dryer (as she had always used mine)
Cheap silverware
a cheap (i.e. IKEA) metal bucket with holes - for the cheap silverware

It is hard to get things like a microwave or fridge yet - without knowing exactly what their dorms allow.

The "other" things I am going to recommend are - more "experiences" like a massage, mani/pedi etc.

My daughter really enjoys spa certificates.

Our DD is 17; we got her a car. :) It's not really for Christmas though as we planned on getting her one next year; this was a decent car for a great price that just landed in our lap so we got it now and are going to surprise her Christmas morning. :drive:

Other things we got her... NF fleece, snowboarding pants, iPhone accessories, clothes, movies, Vera Bradley duffle, fun jewelry, jewelry holder, fUgg boots, scarf, car related stuff like a care kit and bras/undies

My dd is almost 16..
Her big gift is Taylor Swift tickets.

Some other things..

Victorias Secret Pink yoga pants, t-shirt, hoody
Divergent Book Series
Adventure Time Hoody
Coach Poppy Blossom Perfume
Sims3 Expansion Packs
Make up from E.L.F.
Make up from Sephora

And the rest will basically be gift cards.
.. Food Places, Clothing Stores, iTunes, Hair Salon, Nail Salon, Movies, Starbucks, Disney (for our trip).

I like getting her physical gifts she can open over gift cards, but in our case family got most of the specific things she asked for. I'll get these for her to shop when she's broke during the school year.:)

She has a laptop and an iPhone, and had no interest in a tablet or an Ereader of any kind so that was out.

I can only cyber shop, too, for health reasons. I have a 17 year old and a 19 year old.
Their big gifts were already given to them last month. 19DD had always wanted to see the Panthers play, so I got her and her bf tickets to an NFL game.
17dd wanted to see Eric Church so I got her and a friend tickets to his concert.

DH and I are separated (I don't know how I've survived so far), so I don't know what he got them. I got them each a new Ipod Touch, but the only way I could do that was Flex Pay on HSN.

Just tonight I bought then each a sleep shirt from Victoria's Secret (CODES!!! SHIP50 if you spend 50 or more you get free reg ship, scheduled for 12/24 and code FRAGRANCE if you purchase sleepwear, you get a free fragrance set worth $39.

The only other thing I did, which I am proud of myself for coming up with, I noticed on Groupon that our local ice skating rink is having a great special. $8 for 2 including skates. So I bought one for each daughter. 19dd can take her boyfriend and dd17 can rekindle with her old boyfriend. I also purchased 2 $25 gift cards to Mellow Mushroom, so I kinda made up a little date night package.

I think that's my favorite gift of all. I really liked it. I just hope they do, as well.

So, I'm done. Disability doesn't go very far as it is. One birthday in Dec and then Christmas required a lot of planning. But I'm thankful I have my girls and they are safe and sound. I'm gonna start crying again about the shooting. Sorry.

Would she like some experiences?

I'm not sure what there is around your area but there are often lots of classes for a weekend or even a day that she might like - I gave someone an afternoon trapeze class once, that was a huge hit. There's stuff for every interest usually - cheese-making, cooking, trapeze, circus stunt classes, actual movie stunt stuff, stunt driving (there are lots of these, some where you go to a track and use their cars, some where you bring your own and learn stuff like how to do J turns, which can also have some safety elements w/re handling and skids and etc.), flower arranging, jewlery-making, glass-blowing, pottery, painting or drawing, etc., etc.

Small friend-based or home-based little packages might be nice.

Like you could order some movie passes from Costco (they have passes to most theatres usually cheaper than the regular tickets - if they're not cheaper, you could just order a gift card to the local theatre), and a Starbucks or Coldstone or such gift card, so she could go to the movies with her friends and out for coffee or ice cream after.

Or order maybe a game system for her like a Wii or Playstation or Xbox that you all might play - or if you don't think she'd like that, some board games you guys could play together or some from when she was little that she liked that you don't have anymore plus some movies you both like to watch and some gourmet hot cocoa - you could do those and an itunes gift card so she can have games to play with you and games for herself.

Or, if she wears or appreciates jewlery, you could do a statement thing. She didn't ask for a lot, which would indicate she doesn't have a bunch of 'stuff' she wants, so you could spend what you might have spent on a bunch of stuff and get her a real piece of jewlery. Maybe something with an actual gemstone she'd like or real 'adult' classic, like, workplace stuff. Classic, good quality gold (or whatever she wears) earrings and a chain with a heart or something engraved - something she could keep and wear always.

I have an 18 year old daughter. She mostly knows what she is getting but I have a few things that are surprises (like a gift certificate to have her teeth professionally whitened).

Boots (Hunter boots, riding boots, Ugg boots, Bean boots, Maddie girl boots, even cowboy boots- boots are very popular!).
North Face or Patagonia jacket
perfume
Victoria Secret "Pink" yoga pants or sweat pants
Toms shoes
Gift cards to favorite clothing stores
Monogram jewelry (very popular at my daughter's college)
iPhone cases (my daughter likes to change hers around- she's getting a pink lifeproof case this year)
designer watches (these are popular in our area, especially Michael Kors)
designer handbag
Kindle
hoodies to the college she will be attending (if she knows yet- we did this last year for our daughter)

Hope that helps!

Will she be going off to college next year? If she'll be going away, you can always think in terms of dorm stuff.

Here is what DD18 has been getting in case that sparks any ideas for you. She got a laptop last year and case. Last year, she also got towels, small dish set, bath organizer, desk lamp, can opener, and a little mixing bowl/spoon set I found cheap at the grocery store. She was excited about school so she was happy to get stuff for when she is out on her own.

She just completed her first semester of college. This year, she has asked for clothes, Sperry shoes, more scarves, and a laptop sleeve because she needs to put her laptop in her backpack more than carry it around separately. I also got her long pj pants, texting gloves, sorority stuff, and money for a ticket to the Carrie Underwood concert she wants to attend. If I need more ideas, she always loves Starbucks, Panera, Red Mango, and Coldstone gift cards.

My youngest is 17. She's not into Taylor Swift, or trendy clothing-thank goodness. She likes to shop at Goodwill, because, as she says, she knows I can buy her more clothing there for less money. She also loves geeky things, and is going to college in the fall, as an art major.

She's getting:
a wireless speaker with bluetooth connectivity
a portable hard drive
bluetooth headphones
4 different pencil/watercolor/oil paint sets
a portable easel
Sherlock Holmes book set
Lord of the Rings books
Agatha Christie book
Isaac Asimov book
Crochet book
Mental Floss book
double-breasted peacoat
portable turntable
portable scanner
whistling teakettle
robot speaker for her laptop/iphone
digital camera disguised as eyeglasses
5 geeky t-shirts, from Dr. Who, The X-Files, Firefly, Game of Thrones
Dr. Who string lights and journal
Dr. Who calendar and poster
Dr. Who sonic screwdriver
Gryffindor house scarf
Portal companion key chain
Star Trek Enterprise pizza cutter

Most of these items appeal to a very particular taste!

Our DDs must be very similar. DD15 as or would appreciate every one of these things! She will probably be a music major. Funny how the arts draw similar personalities.

DD15 is getting luggage (she travels with her choir groups a lot! NY and Carnegie Hall this spring), gift cards to her favorite shopping and eating places, and new makeup (mostly ELF but some others too). Last year we outfitted her for Ski Race Team. Ski bag, snow pack, higher end equipment, etc. Next year we will pick another activity or milestone to focus around. Most likely, we will outfit her car that she will be getting over the summer. Depending on what condition the car is in, I can see seat covers, new floor mats, etc. Add in gas gift cards and wiring the car for her iphone to work hands free and we should have her covered. And dear ol' mom won't be Mommy Bus any more!:worship:

HTH, OP!

I've got a geek too! She is thrilled with anything Star Wars, Dr. Who, Firefly, etc etc. I actually found some Star Wars dark chocolate that is going in her stocking.

Other things:

Good quality leather knee high boots with several tights / high socks to go along (and a gift receipt in case she doesn't care for my choice)

A snowboard (off Ebay!), mittens, long johns (she's getting her own bindings and boots)

Make-up from Sephora

itunes gift card (Starbucks would be welcome too)

custom nail polish from etsy in Bobafett and R2d2 colors

Couple of pieces of vintage Navajo jewelry (I'm a dealer, this is a constant)

Entertainment book from Costco for our area - she can go to the movies and local restaurants with a discount, even get her oil changed!

I agree, gift cards, jewelry, make-up, always welcome with young women!
