I just booked a quick trip for our family for August at the VWL. Any advice on room locations or other tips would be appreciated.

Oh, by the way, we are in a one-bedroom. Thanks alot for your help.

I would request something close to the elevators. That way you hopefully don't have the dreaded walk down the hall that never ends but leads to that equally dreaded dumpster view. ;)

Ya know what though... that dreaded dumpster view at WL is better than the every day view of my neighbors house here at home.

DVC Jen: Truer words have never been spoken. You are soooo right!

No matter what room you get, you'll have a great time!

My favorite room at VWL was 3502 (?) . It is to the right as you exit the elevator. Down the short hallway and at the end. The hall makes a T, and it is the room in the corner. No one walks in front of the room, the view is of the lodge, to the left you can see the walk way, and to the right you can see the lake (a little far away, but you can see it :rotfl: ). It is a dedicted one bedroom, so no connecting door. Also the building is three stories at that point and no one is above you. We thought it was a great location.
Simba's mom (here on the DIS) has a collection of room reports. Maybe she'll post it for you.
As others have said, enjoy the VWL. It is a great resort, no matter what the view is!!

You might request a lake side, first floor villa because the pation opens right up to the views....then there's no waiting for the elevator, either. We were in one not too long ago and loved it -- quiet, private and lovely.

Is that by the quiet pool? Or were you down towards the opposite side of the building away from the pool.

I have always been a little leery of ground floor rooms because of a lack of privacy with the patio being open versus a balcony.

Are there DVD players in the 1-bedrooms or are they still VCRs?

We were there in Dec and they were still VCR.

Maybe someone there more recently will respond.
