Hi all,
I'm a newbie around here, and in DVC. I'm trying to get ready to book our first visit "home" for the first week of May. I've decided to go OKW, because the points for that time for a 1B are only 196 compared to 252 for BCV or VWL. (I agonized for a while and then thought -- what are you, nuts? You're going to do a trip like this almost every year, so it's not like you won't have a chance to try the others!)

Anyway, back to my question. We'll be going with our 5 yo, 4 yo and 2yo on this trip. Stroller (at least one!) will be involved, and I am looking for recommendations for which buildings might be the most convenient to stay in? I also would appreciate feedback anyone has about views, proximity to bus stops, pool, food, etc.

Thanks!

I would request near a bus stop and it might be fun to be near a pool also. With those ages, I don't think the main pool is so necessary, but near one of the neighborhood pools might be nice. The Miller's Road and South Point pools have nice playgrounds with them. Turtle pond is also a popular place with kids, but might be a bit more active than your ages warant. By being near a bus stop, you will be assured of ease in getting your stroller on. If you ask for South Point, you will be the second bus stop, so also assured a lot of space.

My 5 yr old loved the slide at HHI last April ... actually he was terrified the first time ("I am NEVER doing that again!") but by the time we left he couldn't get enough. So being near the main pool would not be bad.

Does anyone know if there will actually be lifeguards once the pool rehab is finished?

I would also recommend requesting either a ground floor room or a room in a building with an elevator. Not all buildings have elevators so that's something to consider as well.

there will be lifeguards at OKW once the new slide is up and running.

I hope they kept the baby pool - the main pool at OKW is the only one with a baby pool - so unless your 2 year old is brave - I would want to be close to that pool.

If your 2 year has no problem in a big pool - then anywhere close to a bus stop would be fine.

before you could have kids in both pools and have no problem seeing them - I don't now if the new slide will interfer with this or not?
