Need Help Please

Hello

My family will be visiting Disneyland for the first time. I personally went to Disneyland few years ago, and at that time I stayed in Santa Monica Beach Area.

My family will be staying for 3 nights and want to visit

DISNEYLAND in Anaheim

They also want to visit Universal Studios...I presume the theme park?

Are these two close by?....if not, what is the distance between them? are there any other parks, e.g. Sea World close to Disneyland or Universal Studios

Where should one stay if they want to visit these parks?...should they stay in Anaheim, or where?.

They are looking for some family style accomodation e.g. Embassy Suites, Summerfield Suites, basically something which is a little more roomy, moderateraly priced, and has some cooking facilities.

I look forward to your help.

Universal Studios is about 45 minutes north of Disneyland--I would recommend they stay near Disneyland and take a shuttle to Universal for a day trip if they want to. I have only stayed in the disneyland resort hotels so am not familiar with others in the area but read these boards they are very helpful with that.

Sea World is 2 hours south of disneyland so you could do only one or the other. Please note that Universal here is NOT like Florida--it is a working studio and has a few rides but not many. If you go during the weekday however there is a good chance you will see at least one or two shows or commercials being filmed there.
