DH has recently begun going to the driving range with some guys at work. He has a few hand me down clubs his boss has given him. He's never yet played a round of golf, only the driving range. I know he wants, in his words, "an inexpensive used golf bag". I was browsing Amazon and came across this bag: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...ding=UTF8&n=3411261&s=sporting-goods&v=glance
but I don't know what a "stand bag" is. Is this a regular golf bag? The price is certainly right but I don't want to buy the wrong thing. Can anybody help me out? What other low ticket items would be good for a golfer to be?

Thanks!

I showed DH the picture and he said it is a stand bag. His has a little lever (?) on the bottom which, when put against the ground, springs the legs out.

Other golf things:
Towel(s)
Glove
Shoes
Balls
Tees
Club Covers
Umbrella
Golfing hat/visor

But what exactly is a stand bag? Is that a regular golf bag? Or is it something different? I want a regular golf bag.

Yes, it is a regular bag. Nothing fancy except it has the pop out stand. DH says he would not buy a golf bag without the pop out stand. Otherwise you have to buy a stand to prop your bag up on while you hit the ball. :)

Cool! So I should buy him this! He's not expecting me to get him one at all! Thanks!

Your welcome. :)

DH said it was a good price. ;) :)

My husband had gotten his golf bag which is a stand bag at Costco. You can get a cheaper bag at Wal-Mart for around $50.00. The good thing of a stand bag is that you can put up the stands while you are golfing, instead of lying the whole bag down on the ground so that only the bottom of the stand and bottom of the bag will get dirty. The stand makes the bag stand at an angle.

I would also suggest the wheel cart for the golf bag - it makes taking the bag around the golf course much, much easier than carrying it!:D

Just watch out. Some courses do not allow wheel carts. Sorry.

Bags with the kick stand are great. I also got one with straps like a backpack so it's easier to carry. The course I usually play on doesn't allow the wheel carts either.

There are lots of inexpensive golf stocking stuffers like tees, caps, towels, balls, etc. I miss dating a golfer. They're so easy to shop for!
