Okay Campers I need a little help here.....

The only place I have ever stayed in camper is at WDW at FW (is there really any place else? <BG>).
Anyway, I haven't been in a few years cause we didn't have anything to go in, but I just got a 5th wheel for Christmas and I wanted to go to FW for Valentine's weekend and for Thanksgiving, but of course it's already sold out. :headache: No, I am not really surprised. I know everyone booked this last year or months ago and I plan on getting back into that habit as soon as 2009 rates come out this summer (I can't believe it's only day three of 2008 and I am already talking about 2009!).
Anyway, I still want to go to Orlando for Valentine's weekend, so any suggestions of other good places to stay? I have two, 20 pound Boston Terriers, so I need a pet friendly place. The more the ammenities the better, but I really don't want to pay the Disney rates of $70 a night if it's not Disney. ...I know, I know, I am picky....what can I say I am Disney spoiled. But, hopefully I'll get over that as we do plan to expand our horizions a bit this time around and go other places than Disney, (is there realy any other place to go than Disney? <BG>).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

There is no other place than Disney. Right? I mean do other places actually exist? I thought that was just an old fish tale!

Seriously though, keep trying! You'd be amazed at how many people cancel at the last minute. I kept trying for this past Christmas and finally got a bingo! Don't settle!:goodvibes

We stayed at Wekiewa Springs State Park last year. It was beautiful. I saw pets. The restrooms aren't as fancy as FW- concrete instead of tile, but clean. It was amazingly IN Orlando. If I was from Orlando, maybe I'd say "huh-uh it is in such-and-so suburb." :confused3 not sure. But it was an easy commute to wdw.

I can't help you with alternate suggestions, because we just started RVing--but we got Thanksgiving week this past year, after a lot of perseverance!:thumbsup2 I called daily for weeks this past fall, and was able to piece it together. Our last day there we reserved while we were there! Keep trying, and good luck!

I would keep calling. It took me three months to get our ressies for right before Christmas last year, but it worked. You just have to be persistent and call early in the morning.

Keep trying. Maybe something will open up.

Man, Santa was good to you!!!! :santa: :santa: :santa: :thumbsup2

When I first saw the title of this, all I saw was "need back up plan"

Well my first thought was "get a camper that's light enough, then you can disconnect and push!!"

But now that I read the rest of it, seriously, just keep calling back.

Also, if you have a couple of holes in the middle of your trip. Go anyway, the Fort is pretty good about filling those nights once you are there.

Thanks for everyones suggestion. :) I have tried the keep checking method and yup it does work! I just got my valentine's day weekend! Wahoo! That will now be our first big camping adventure in our 5th wheel. Yes, santa was very good, though it sure the heck took him long enough to find us something we wanted and could afford. I only waited four years! LOL! Anyway, I hope 2008 turns out as well as 2007 did. <BG>

PS
Thanks for the tips on the others spots too. I had seen the Tropical Plams one online, didn't know if it was any good though. But, Wekiwa Springs's I had never heard of. :) Cool a new place to research! Thanks!

One last cruise on Jan.19th, before I become a full fledge camper!
