Navy Seal Chases Down the Killers of his dog.

Glad you live in lala land then! Just curious, what is your opinion on the actual criminals here that murdered his dog and other dogs over the course of the past month? You single Marcus out as being the bad guy. That has to be the worst thing I've personally read on this thread of course.

The court system will punish the other criminals IF they are proven guilty. Marcus needs counseling!!!! Why aren't you people mad at the military/government for not doing more for Marcus after what he's been through? He'll never forget what happened to him and his friends but after 3 years he should be adapted to civilian life.

The worst thing on this thread? Really? So it's ok that people thought he should have just shot and killed all the people in the car? So it's ok to murder 4 people but not to reprimand a person for endangering the lives of innocent bystanders?

REALLY?!?! I'm guessing you've NEVER been in a combat situation??? When you are... you may pass judgement... I would never even begin to understand. It is my understanding that Marcus WAS/IS receiving counseling...he HAD a therapy dog.....*ahem* HAD.....

:sad2: You're kidding, right??? Read his book and then tell me how long it will take you to adjust back to your normal life. And it does sound like he was adapting and had a horrible flashback. Someone came on to his property, fired at his home where he and his mother were living and killed his dog. Sounds like training and flashbacks all kicked in at once.

And again, I'm going with the people from TX who keep telling us that these are farm roads and the most they will run across will be livestock, especially at 3 a.m. Not like he was running the NJ Turnpike at those speeds. Oh wait, people do that every day on the way to work.

Shoot out the tires while driving 100mph. That happens only in the movies. ;)His pick up truck didn't go as fast as their car. He could see their tail lights up ahead.

He came upon the perps BEFORE they took off, he had them sighted with his gun. What the heck are you and Catherine yammering about?

He could have shot out the tires BEFORE they took off and held them in the car under threat of being shot until the cops showed up. Instead he chose to risk many OTHER lives in the process. Yay hero!

I cant respond any better than quoting these. Well said both of you.

Welcome to the real world. With shrinking budgets, police response times have to suffer.

A previous poster pointed out that the incident took place in rural Texas. I don't know about that county, but here locally, most cities and the county only have a single officer on the grave yard shift. That lone deputy could be on a call elsewhere or just a long way off - here it could take an hour to get from one part of the county to another, perhaps longer. Sure, they can call another deputy, but what are the odds of having a deputy living in that specific area?

:rotfl: So only if you've seen combat can you put your opinions on this board? :lmao: Seeing combat doesn't make you judge and jury...nor God.

So we should just expect every single military person that returns from war, every police officer ever involved in a shootout, every witness to a shootout, every victim of a terrible crime........to take matters into their own hands and give chase to criminals with a loaded gun at high speeds? Nope sorry not happening!
Livestock=animal So it would have been ok if he'd had hit someones horse? Well I guess it would because if you hit a horse going over a hundred I doubt there'd be much left of you. You don't seem to get that if he had hit a cow, bull, deer, horse going a hundred he'd quite possibly be dead. Not only did he endanger bystanders but himself as well.

Wow...Glad you find this to be SO funny?! No...everyone is entitled to their opinion on this particular board...we have our military to thank for that:goodvibes YOU can thank Mr. Marcus for that ;) "Seeing Combat" makes you able to UNDERSTAND this man's position. Which you obviously DON"T. Nor do I....I do know as a dog owner/land owner, that if someone shot my dog, on my property, they would be FORTUNATE to be chased down by vehicle and not shot on sight. Welcome to WV ;) we don't mess around here....nor does TX...be glad you don't live there:rotfl: OH, and I am willing to take whatever judicial judgements would be placed upon me for these actions...that's just how I roll

:surfweb:What I find funny is all these posters safely hidden behind their computers making statements saying how they would have just shot the suspects. Easy for you to type such a statement and not have to back that up. I don't believe all the BS about all people that live in WV or Texas taking the law into their own hands and shooting everyone they come across breaking the law. Taking another person's life is not something you can take back if you later regret it. Have you ever seen in person what a gun can do to a person? Not TV, not internet...right there inches away? I have and I can tell you unless the person was going to kill me or another HUMAN I couldn't even imagine killing another human.

BTW when was the last execution in WV? That's strange I can't find anything to back up your insinuation. I'm sure though you'll have no problem backing up your statement about WV with facts. :surfweb:

These post need to be repeated again. Great job in having the ability to express a lot of peoples thoughts so well. Thank you.

You're right. I wouldn't have shot him, because I don't have a gun.

I would have chased their butts down, similar to what Marcus did. And I have no high speed chase training. :cool2:

Frankly, as a HUMAN these punks deserve to rot, and that dog was worth more than all of them put together - and AS A HUMAN, you should kinda sorta understand that? No?

BUT I digress......SHANNON - No, not worth the points. You're right. :)

Curious. If you caused any damage to person or property of innocent victims during this high speed chase, do you think you should be accountable in criminal and civil court or your actions?

:thumbsup2 Exactly Cathryn! I've been kinda cranky since I put down the smokes lol! 11 days smoke free :D! Lucky for those ding-dongs they didn't shoot MY dog....Marcus showed INCREDIBLE restraint.

Speaking for myself...I would have been MORE THAN happy to be responsible for whatever actions needed to be taken.

really?

So if you killed an innocent person during your high speed chase...you would feel that you stil did the right thing?

I would take whatever measures necessary to ensure that I didn't kill an innocent person while in pursut of the imbescile that shot my dog. I lost my 22 yr old step son in a freak car accident 7 yrs ago this Monday... do you REALLY want to go there with me????

These stats are with trained police officers in proper vehicles- lights and sirens.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 400 people die nationwide as a result of police chases. Of these fatalities, some were suspects and some were officers. But 30% were pedestrians or civilians in other cars - people who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
